Cameras, lenses, accessories and all the other equipment you need for your photography and videography.
About My Photography
All the photos on Just One Cookbook were taken by me unless it’s mentioned otherwise. Mr. JOC does the reviews (restaurants, products, random things) and he takes the pictures for his special posts.
From May 2014, we added a Canon 70D to our collection. The reason for doing so is we use 2 cameras to record video while using the 3rd one to take step by step pictures.
From August 2014, we added a 2nd Canon 70D to further improve our videos. The Canon 70D is the first DSLR from Canon that auto-focuses by itself during video mode to the focus point.
Our other lenses include:
- Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II Lens
- Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS Lens
- Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro Lens
- Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro Lens
- Canon EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro Lens
- Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens
- Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM
I love using natural light, however I also use studio light when it’s too dark to take pictures.
About My Videos
We started our YouTube Channel in September 2013. All the videos on Just One Cookbook were filmed and edited by Mr. JOC. Doing videos is quite tricky, there aren’t many books that help you get started vs. photography. We find the best resource for learning how to make video are tutorials from individuals, such as Learning DLSR Video and YouTube Channels.
Camera & Video Software:
We use 2 cameras (Canon 70D) to capture most of our video work. We highly recommend using Canon STM lenses to eliminate auto-focus noise and lenses capable of low apertures to give the video a film look. First year Mr. JOC used PowerDirector to edit and produced them. He’s currently using Adobe Premier to edit our videos.
Lighting and other Equipments:
All the videos are recorded in our kitchen using Cool Lights for lighting. Based on our research they are similar to Kino Flo but much cheaper and just as good. We never actually compared the footage shot with Cool Lights vs. Kino Flo. Other equipment we highly recommend is a sturdy tripod like Manfrotto 028B and a tripod head that allow you to pan and tilt smoothly.
Lastly, you can get really creative with your video with a slider. One of the best budget slider on the market is by Konova, search for tutorials on Youtube.
