Q:tell me how you found Just One Cookbook
A: I found Just One Cookbook when I started searching for the receipe for a cold noodle that I tried back in 1974 when I was enrolled in what is referred to today as the Taiwan Loveboat; back then it was a serious cultural program, My local family host was a close friend of my uncle, whose sister-in-law ran a “famous” cold noodle shop (in Taipei) that I failed to appreciate at that time; but in hindsight, now long for. I live in the SF bay area and still (to today) search for the receipe for that great cold noodle that my host made back in 1974, but no such luck. I am still searching, and that’s how I found (discovered) Just One Cookbook.

Hi Nami! I found you from Facebook. Glad I did and learned about cooking and baking. Thank you for sharing all the recipes.
I found your JOC Website during a time where I really got into East Asian Cuisine – it started initially with Chinese as it’s very popular in the United Kingdom.
With time I became though more stimulated about Japan and its culture. Then I really got interested during my search about food and wondered if there are some wonderful food blogs out there who share Japanese recipes. I tried out food from another blog (Jenn Segal’s Once Upon A Chef) and loved the outcome every time – and I was hoping for the same on the Japanese side.
When I google searched “Japanese Recipes” (or along those lines) your JOC was one of the first results that showed up. I began reading and looking through JOC and who you are. That’s when I thought, “that’s really exciting and fantastic on what she does with this Website”.
The first recipe, after long decisions back then from a pretty long list of options, I made Teriyagi Chicken Meatballs as the first recipe. I immediately loved it! After I also wrote a feedback on the recipe site, and then received your kind reply, I really was captured and more motivated about JOC and Japan than ever.
I found myself cooking a lot of your recipes – all 3 Dorias are amongst my favourites. You also linked and directed me (and other readers) about other things, like travelling in Japan, networking and sharing other blogs like Season With Spices (Reese and Mark), and much more. JOC is a big accomplishment of yours, and I stay to that statement! (Besides, you became a stimulus through JOC and your posts/comments/newsletters about starting a food blog as well someday – and that hopefully soon when the time is right!)
Sorry for the lengthly answer, but as a PhD Pre-Doctorate (3 years before I really can call myself a scientist) everything deserves to receive complete feedback to give it justice! 😉 And you do deserve it! 😀
I already subscribe to your newletter.
I found your site when I was looking at recipes for agedashi tofu

I found Just One Cookbook through one of the food bloggers’ Nasi Lemak Lover. Thanks.
I found just one cookbook a year or 2 ago when looking for easy asian recipes
Hello! I found Just One Cookbook while looking for a japanese recipe that is easy to make and easy to follow.
Hello Nami,
my daughter Clara and I travelled recently to Kyoto and had a four-night-stay at the wonderful “Piece Hostel Sanjo”. In it´s common space there were two big screens on wich your videos from “justonecookbook” were shown all day long…;-) We loved to watch them while eating, having coffee or cleaning our dishes and found them very inspiring. When back home in Germany the first thing to do (really!) was to subscribe to your newsletter. It helps against Japan-homesickness….Thank you for sharing your recipes with us! Sincerely yours
Bettina
I volunteered to make dinner for a sick friend and her family, and wanted to make something from the country I love that won’t be too much of a culture shock but still very delicious. Your website was the first to pop up in my Google search!
The day after I made the dinner for my friend, she told me everyone loved it! I made Gyudon
Can I just say random synchronicity on the internet somehow? I can’t seem to put my finger on it, but I can say I’m so glad I did. Love your posts!
I always love japanese food and one day i found you =)….i have tried your teriyaki sauce and everyone loved it….amazing blog really love it 😉
I think I searched for a curry recipe or maybe it was a recipe that had matcha in it. I can’t really remember. I just remember there weren’t a whole lot of recipes on the site. The ones I tried since then I do use time and time again. Wish there were more curry recipes though. Like sweet, spicy, you know, variants.
After several trips to Japan and living in Fukuoka for a couple of years I returned to Australia. I desperately missed the food (among many other things) so googled ‘authentic Japanese recipes ‘ and hit the jackpot with JOCB! People always comment on my fancy bento boxes and amazing Japanese cooking skills so I have to share my secret with everyone about just how easy it really is with just one cookbook in mind! Thank you Nami you are my inspiration to say the least xx
I found you like 2 years ago, when I was googling new japanese recipes. So glad that it happened!
My Uncle introduced me to you and I am so very glad he did
i’ve been a reader for so long I can’t remember how I first found you but i LOVE LOVE LOVE your site!
Can I just say we are soo lucky in Seattle to have 2 locations nearby with more coming soon!
I was looking in Youtube for Japanese recipes, saw one of your videos and liked how it showed in detail how to prepare the food. Then decided to look more into your webpage. 🙂
I am a student doing an internship in Japan and was searching on Google for cool recipes to make while I’m here. I came across your travel guide, as well as some recipes for mabo dofu and jabchae that I definitely want to try! Thanks so much for your hard work and I will definitely post some pictures on my blog of my attempts to do your recipes!
Nami,
I was looking for an authentic recipe for okonomiyaki with pictures that was easy to understand and execute and your recipes came up! I have tried both hiroshima style and osaka style and love them both. Thank you so much.
I found Just One Cookbook on Youtube when I was trying to find an okonomiyake recipe in 2014 after my dad got back from Japan and told me how great it was, I wanted to make it. Instead I found a wonderful step by step oyakodonburi recipe from Just One Cookbook on Youtube, and then I was hooked ever since! I now follow on Facebook, Pinterest and Youtube
looked for specific, authentic Japanese recipe and finally hit the jackpot when I ran across your site. Haven’t left since.
Searching for Japanese recipes online.
I found your site while searching for a Chashu recipe. Your site is very interesting so I decided to subcribe. 🙂
I found Just One Cookbook while browsing the web trying to find a good recipe for sukiyaki. Every month my family dresses up in Japanese attire and has a good Japanese dinner. I wanted to try my luck on sukiyaki but I was not sure how to prepare the tofu. Nami had some good pointers so I used her website. The meal turned out great so after the dinner I subscribed to Nami’s newsletters and have been quite contented with her since. Thanks Nami!
Hi Nami, I googled for a recipe for Dons and was directed to your blog. I have since cooked the chicken meatballs to much success. My sons loved it. I really like your blog. It is informative and the recipes suit my family’s taste.
