the best steak I ever ate I prepared myself, grass fed beef cooked on my egg. WOW
Best steak I had was from a little Japanese restaurant in the middle of nowhere when I lived in New Jersey. I’m not normally a big steak eater but when it is prepared well it can be delightful!
The best steak I have ever had was a sirloin beef steak that I cooked at home myself when I was 18.It was marinated in a little soy sauce and served with creamed potatoes and mushrooms.

I think the best steak that I’ve ever had was at a mutual friend’s place. He was making pan seared rib eye steaks for everyone, and he used ground black pepper, thyme, and garlic butter to season his steak. I had it rare. Best steak hands down.

At home, on the grill… It was american style kobe beef. Really want to try the real thing!
The best steak I’ve ever had was made by my mom. The steak was just simply sprinkled on some salt and pebble. My mom also rubbed the steak with some oil to make it moist and tender!
Porterhouse steak broiled at home with salt, pepper & green onion added last minute.
What is the best steak you’ve had, where did you have it and how was it prepared? Dry aged sirloin from Cattlemen steak house, very rare flame grilled on mesquite.
I have not tried either of the type of steaks that you mention for this recipe. However, I have read several good reviews of the Kobe steaks, even though I was informed that it costs more to purchase it than the standard steaks we are use to. Your giveaway would be a great opportunity to try the Miyzaki steak along with your recipe since we love garlic and wine. Great combination..
As for good steaks we love eating at Ruth Chris in Dallas, Texas. Omaha steaks are also good.

I usually cook the steak myself, medium well. I would rub salt onto the steak first before cooking it. I would eat it with some blue cheese or add a touch of lemon juice.

The best steak I had was Kobe beef in Japan!
The best steak I ever had was at the Prime Quarter Steak House in Green Bay, WI. A 2″ Porterhouse I grilled myself after downing a 1/2 bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon.
The best steak I ever ate was the first piece of meat I was able to afford after a month of struggle. It was simmered with some butter and a ton of sliced mushrooms.
Best steak I have ever had was in Seattle at a Japanese restaurant many many years ago.
It was cooked in a soya sauce base and it was melt in your mouth!
I think Japanese cooks really know how to do up a steak.
Haven’t had a steak that good since.
Grilled at home, marinated in burgundy wine, garlic, thyme and pepper
I loved reading about your comparison between the two kinds of beef!
I was fortunate to have bought some Miyazaki Gyu beef at our Asian store (Marukai) here in Honolulu last week. We cooked it yakiniku style and decided that it was the BEST beef we’ve EVER tasted! Melt in your mouth and so flavorful! Could only afford to buy 1/2 lb but it was well worth it. Would love to win another steak! We will savor every bite if we are the winner!
The best steak I’ve ever had was probably the Overland Stagecoach in Anaheim, CA. It would have been a traditionally prepared NY strip or if I was desiring leftovers, a porterhouse. Sadly the hotel it was connected to remodeled, including the restaurant, and turned the whole thing into a Southwestern BBQ. It went from elegant, 1920-30s styled European steakhouse to… not appealing. My second favorite would be Lawry’s The Prime Rib, in Hollywood, or one of a couple Brazilian BBQs.

I love rib eye steaks! I had a great one at the cattle baron. It was cooked to rare inside but with a charred outside. So tasty
It was a New York strip steak at a resturant in downtown near the ave of America. I forget the name but I went for my graduation and I loved the middle rare cooked strip I had.

One of the best steaks I ever had was at the Capitol Grill in Costa Mesa, CA. But it was very expensive. I believe it was pan grilled and was very small. It was very tender, but it didn’t melt in my mouth. Actually some of the best steaks I’ve had are right here in my home when I’m willing to spend for clean, grass-fed Rib Eye. We like it grilled and topped with Gorgonzola butter.

The best steak I’ve ever had would have to be at a restaurant on Maui YEARS ago. I can’t even remember what kind of steak it was but it was so good.

I went to Osaka and Kyoto just last week! I had my first Kobe beef and I have to say that it has been my favourite one!! 😀
I went to a restaurant in Shinsaibashi and I had my own chef cooking the steak in front of me. It was simply grilled and I could try it with three different flavour: soy sauce, ponzu sauce and with salt.
Great meat and great experience! 😀
My maternal grandfather who was both a farmer and a butcher, had the best steaks ever. The best were from late spring / early summer after the cattle had fattened up on sweet spring grass and clover after the winter. He would grill steaks, I don’t remember how exactly, but they would melt in your mouth.
The best steak was made at home, just grilled with salt and pepper.

The best steak I ever have.. I would say the time my best friend and I decided to try my first BBQ. Never used one before and was a little challenge. Hahaha! I was a simple steak with Montreal steak spice. With that we had potatoes and asparagus on the BBQ. While eating, we watched a really girly cheesy movie. We laugh a lot because you had such a manly meal and a girly movie.

I have had many very good steaks in my life, but the one I remember most fondly was at a backyard cookout. One of our neighbors had a really thick steak that was grilled over an open fire so it was deliciously smoky, and deeply browned and crispy on the outside while still being rare in the middle. It was just a chuck steak — none of us could afford much better — but it was well-marbled and wonderfully tasty. I’m pretty sure the only seasoning it had in addition to the woodsmoke was salt and pepper.
I have wanted to try Wagyu beef ever since the first time I heard of it, and I will deeply envy whoever wins!

The best steak I’ve ever had would have to be a ribeye cut I made myself. I bought it on sale from a krogers so it wasn’t a fancy or expensive piece of meat but I made my own season rub and marinade for it so it turned out great. But other than that I never really had money to get great steaks or order them from restaurants.

I had the best steak at Marriott Hotel in Chicago.
The best steak I ever had was a rare top sirloin steak at a local steak house. So good.
The finished product looks so yummy! Hope you got to eat it. Best steak I had was at the House of Prime Rib in San Francisco
I’ve had many great steaks. But I think the best one ever was a long time ago at a company picnic at Smugglers Den Campground in Southwest Harbor, Maine. It was a rib-eye prepared by my then brother-in-law, Lee Worcester. He coated the steak in spices then blackened it in a cast iron skillet heated white hot on a turkey cooker. It only took a couple minutes, but it came out of the skillet crusted, tender, very juicy and incredibly flavorful.
The best steak was wagyu at at a Teppanyaki restaurant located within walking distance of the Shin-Kobe station (in an office plaza connected via a walkway). My lunch set might have been about $100 USD, but it was delicious. Like beef flavored butter. I can’t wait to go back to Japan for another meal.
The best steak I had so far was at a local restaurant in Manila — it was something like “Memphis-style” and cooked medium rare. I need steak right now — for breakfast 🙂

The best steak I’ve had was cooked by my dad. We were staying at the lake on his house boat and he grilled thick steaks on a little gas grill on the boat. He only seasoned them with salt, pepper, onion and garlic. Perhaps it tasted so good because it was cooked by my dad at one of my favorite places, but his steak would be hard to top!
I’ve had a lot of good steaks, but I have to say the best so far was a peppercorn crusted New York with a cognac cream sauce at Capital Grill.
The best steak i had was a wagyu simply seared medium rare at a steakhouse in las vegas, it was perfect!!!
Flat iron steak with salt, pepper, using rosemary to brush a little oil on it. This cut of beef is really hard to mess up and it’s nice and tender.
Both steaks look abit different in terms of texture… Did u cook the wagyu beef with lemon and red wine too?
I can honestly say that I don’t recall what the best steak I’ve ever had was. That’s pretty sad. We don’t often eat out at steakhouses, and I rarely cook steak to eat at home (mostly tri-tip or london broil- I don’t think that counts as steak?) I know I’ve had filet mignon a few times, but the experiences weren’t all that memorable, I guess! Thanks for the chance to win- I’d love to try this steak out (and my hubby would love it, too!)

My best steak was at outback steak house. A 12 oz and medium. I haven’t ventured too much with steaks until I married my husband. Wagyu beef Yakiniku style in Japan. Seared lightly dipped in soy and mirin, straight. Never tasted a bad a wagyu. Japanese style cooking is most suitable for wagyu as you want to taste the beef as it is without being smothered by sauce. That means the fresher the meat, the better. Maybe the cows in Japan are better massaged!

I have had my only Wagyu steak ever in Takayama. Actually my husband had steak and I had ground meat. But we did not know it was wagyu beef. They just put “steak” on the menu. It was on our honeymoon and my husband proved to really love me as he shared his steak with me. It was absolute heaven! We took pictures of all the wonderful japanese food we had during our trip but here, the best meat I have ever tasted, I was so involved with eating that we completely forgot to make a picture! Afterwards we visited the butcher right next door to gaze at the beautiful marbled meat.
Best steak was cooked at home. Cooked in a cast iron pan that was heated in a very hot oven.
My favorite steak was a Miyazaki steak actually. Tried in Japan on the 40th floor of the Ritz Carlton!
Hmm, the best steak I had is my aunt’s “steak with mushroom sauce”. The steak is soft and tender and with the mushroom sauce over – divine 🙂
I was newly married and my husband then took me to a Japanese Hotel with a Japanese Restaurant that was promoting special Wagyu Beef (they called it Kobe Beef at the time) flown in from Kobe, Japan. We ordered it – at the time it was roughly over $100 per person. It was like really like eating butter – it melted in my mouth. You chew it with your tongue and not your teeth! I remembered it tasted like heaven! I have never tasted beef like that again unless I order them now or go back to Japan to enjoy it in the home country which I will do very soon!
The best steak I’ve had was cooked by myself. It was a nice rib-eye, seared on both sides with salt and pepper, topped with a home made garlic herb butter in the oven to a nice juicy medium rare.

The best steak I had was in the restaurant “Red” in Miami a nice porterhouse with a chimichurri sauce. They also serve Miyazaki Japanese Kobe beef when available, it was over our budget, may be next time we will try it, specially after watching the video!!
I had to think long and hard about this question, and I couldn’t come up with anything!
I’m not especially confident preparing steak so it’s not something I purchase and prepare in my own kitchen. When my husband and I go out to eat I always order either seafood or a vegetarian dish! I absolutely can’t remember an occasion eating steak.
After watching this video I may have to give it a go, hubbie would be SO happy! 🙂

Truly, I am still waiting on the best steak I have ever had. I am hoping it will be the steak I win from you which I will prepare the way you suggested. Just wanted to let you know that I found it interesting that you took the middle green part out of the garlic before frying it. I think I will do that even if I do not win the steaks you are giving away. Thank you.

I eat steak so rarely that when I do, it’s always a wonderful experience. The last time I had a really good steak was at the Golden Steer in Las Vegas, it was a filet mignon cooked to medium (I grew up in a “well-done” household and get a little squemish as it falls towards the rarer side).

I was born in Beppu on Kyushu, but lived for a time in Kobe. That is where I had my first, & best!, steak. None other can compare!!
The best steak I ever had was surprisingly made by my husband and I on our outdoor smoker! We soaked the hickory wood over night in preparation. The smell alone was enough to put a great steakhouse to shame. We had thick cut ribeyes on the smoker for 3 hours! We look forward to using our smoker again real soon! Thank you, Nami, for the chance to win!
The best steak I have had the pleasure to enjoy was a birthday gift at The Whaling Station above Cannery Row in Monterey, California.. The owner and originator of the restaurant for over 40 years is a local chef and cooking show host named John Pisto.. Chef Pisto sold the landmark restaurant about a year ago.
The steak I enjoyed was a wonderful prime rib eye.. Almost melted in my mouth.. Sadly, I was not able to try their Kobe beef… I wish I had done so before Chef Pisto sold the restaurant..
My Sweetie would flip if I brought home these steaks.
I follow you on Facebook and Instagram! That looks so so delicious!
Good steak is too expensive in my country, probably the best steak I’ve had was a homecooked Ribeye cooked on a cast iron pan.
Best steak I have had was in my own kitchen, with a green pepper corn and marrow sauce.
The best steak I’ve ever eaten was cooked by myself. My boyfriend and I don’t have a massive food budget but we do love steak, we also love paleo. By far his favourite meal to date, was the rump steak (aldi £3.29) served medium rare, cooked on high with lots of turns, served with portobello mushroom stuffed with mashed sweet potato, asparagus spears pan fried with garlic butter. Heavenly.
The best steak I ever ate was in a little pub called the Beach House in the seaside village of greystones, Wicklow, Ireland its a dog friendly pub with little paw prints on the table for dog owners so they always make sure you have enough left overs to share! As usual in Ireland it was grass fed and raised free range from local farmers it was simple chargrilled and served medium rare so the beef does most of the talking I love that pub and I can honestly say that steak is worth the 10km walk every summer along the cliff walk to get there.
Florentine steak from Florence, Italy!

The best steak I’ve ever had was a cheaper version of Wagyu (only version I’ve ever tried), in Niigata. We bought it at the supermarket and weren’t sure how to cook it best (since we had no internet we couldn’t look it up). So we ended up frying it medium-rare in a bit of butter and seasoned it with a little salt and pepper. It was so delicious, and tasted somewhat of tuna sashimi!

At age 67, I have tasted many various types and cuts of beef. Some were better to my taste than others, and many were dreadfully overcooked, despite my ordering true medium rare, cut it off a warm cow, let it moo back at me. Overdone bed tastes like cardboard or shoe leather. One of my best taste memories is a small neighborhood cafe next to a local golf course that made steaks and prime rib. Not only did they cook it perfectly but after cooking they dipped it into a mixture of soy sauce and Worcestershire sause. That swim through the sauce made all the natural flavors of the beef rise up and shine. That was 45 years ago and my taste buds still remember how yummy it was! Good cow, well cooked, does not require a lot of fuss nor fancy sauces to cover the flavor. It is only the cheap cuts or the ill prepared one that need to be covered up or hidden.

Aarraugh! Auto correct can be aggregating! That was typed as “overdone beef”, sorry.MAGGIE

Hi Nami,
I’ve been a follower of yours for years and simply love your recipes and approach to cooking tasty yet healthy Japanese food (In fact, I just made your teriyaki salmon for dinner last night. The tip about using flour to keep the moisture of the fish in saved the meal!).
I have been to many delicious steakhouses over the years. However, nothing compares to the USDA Prime Rib Eye steak my husband grills at home. He believes in maintaining the integrity of the meat so he does not overdo it in terms of seasoning and sauces. He simply lets the meat warm to room temperature, seasons each side with salt and pepper, heats the grill to high, and cooks the steak on the grill for 4-5 minutes. Be sure to grill then rotate the steak at a 30-45 degree angle and continue to grill to ensure nice grill marks! 🙂

My roommate made the most amazing steak at home for all of us over the summer!
The best steak I had was served at Bern’s steakhouse in Tampa, FL. It was an aged filet mignom served medium rare and was grilled.
Best steak I had was local grass-fed beef that my husband cooked on the BBQ last summer, cooked with only generous amounts of salt and pepper – the simplicity let the flavours of the beef really bloom.
The best Steak I had was a Rib eye In Colorado Springs at Teds Montana Grill.
The best steak I’ve ever had was a ribeye seared by my father, served with a butter/mushroom/onion sauce. Yum!

We bought a chef’s cookbook the other day, and follow the steaks recipe how to cook. Leave room temparature before cook, rub olive oil, seasons salt and pepper. Heat the frypan really high, and cook 2 minutes, turn and cook 2 minutes, turn again and cook 2 minutes, and then turn another 2 minutes. And keep warm 4 minutes on the warm plate. It’s so simple methord, but completly different from we cooked before even it’s the cheap meat!
It’s my best and cheapest steak for now!

The best steak I ever had was prepared by my mom. From what I remembered, she only seasoned the steak with a generous amount of salt and pepper. The steak was medium rare and that is the way I like my steak. I will have to say that was one of the best steaks I ever had because it was really juicy and the meat was tender. My mom told me her friend purchased the steak from UC Davis’ meat laboratory. I found out that the meat lab is run by students and they actually learn hands-on training in slaughtering, sanitation, and processing meat products. I find this really interesting and surprising that they actually sell meat on school campus because I went to UC Davis and I had no idea about this until my mom cooked that steak for me at home. I still think about it all the time but never got a chance to go back to get some to try on my own.
The best steak I ever had was a Wagyu Steak from Black & Blue in Vancouver, Canada. It was cooked medium rare accompanied by sautéed asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes.
Ribeye ( I think) cooked on a well ashed wood fire. Our food was ready just at sundown on a beach in Samara, Costa Rica. We hardly noticed a dusting of sand on the meat.
The best steak that I ever had when I was on a study trip to France, It was in a small authentic Parisian brasserie it was very old school, what I had was a grass fed rib eye steak cooked medium rare and topped with only carmalized onions and hand cut fries as a side.

The best steak I’ve ever had was simply grilled by my husband. We decided to spoil ourselves and bought two prime porterhouse steak at our local butcher. We seasoned with salt and pepper, put the steaks on a preheated grill. He did it perfectly. We let it rest and then served it with oven roasted vegetables. Of course he pulled out a beautiful red wine to top off the evening.

Hi there Nami, and all justonecookbook fans! My most favourite steak undoubtedly has been from Harare, Zimbabwe. Which was at one time prime beef country! I believe that if one is going to have a g-o-o-d steak, it must be rare to medium rare. My favourite, hands down, was peppered steak, flambe` in a good cognac with a lovely thick sauce to accompany it! Making my mouth water as I think of it. Time to go off and find me a steak! I reckon that one could be done with Szechuan peppercorns too!

ANGUS BARN. Raleigh, NC – Filet, Medium Rare
I tried a mini-burger with Kobe beef at a nightclub in Las Vegas, but I’ve never had a Kobe steak. The best steak I’ve ever had was a New York steak at Outback. I hate to say it, but it was well done! 🙂

Best steak I eat was in a restaurant at Bilbao, Spain, just salt and pepper; cooked in a mini grill brought at our table : you pick the steak and cook it yourself*;;;
We raise our own angus beef and the best steak is a fillet mignon on the grill with hubbies special grilling seasonings.
A great beef steak in a restaurant at Ourense, Spain. Yummy!!!!!!! Classic spanish recipe: salt, olive oil and a bit of parsley, with french fries and salad.

Love your website! Been on it with my wife for years! Best steak I’ve had was in Cupertino California at Alexander’s Steakhouse. Amazing experience and is a must try. Felt like I was using a hot knife cutting through butter.
One of the best ones I tried is Skirt Steak, its inexpensive and full of flavour
And yes you know I follow you on Facebook 🙂
The best beef steak I’ve ever had was from the Mickey Mantle’s Steakhouse in Oklahoma City. They had a special menu with Japanese Kobe Beef Filet Mignons. It was priced at 40 dollars an ounce because of how rare it is in the US. I have never seen it since I tried it in Oklahoma City with my family.
Sometime I would like to take a vacation to Japan to try all of the cuisine, but your blog has helped me so much in trying the these delicious exotic dishes without any travel. I would love to cook a real Wagyu steak in my own home.

Best steak I have had I made from a Delmonico cut boneless ribeye, with just some fresh pepper, crushed garlic and a bit of Bulldog Sauce on each side broiled to just under med rare.
Wagyu at Aubergine in Carmel- with miso and lots of other umani flavors!
Had the best Kobe beef in a Japanese restaurant at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore!
LOVE JUSTONECOOKBOOK!!!
The best steak that I had was from the JAL flight Nagoya to NRT. They served Kobe steak on the flight. It was so tender and delicious. I can never forget that fresh meat taste!
The best steak I ever ate was a Hide steak that I had in Takayama, Japan. It was grade 5 beef that was served raw and we cooked ourselves on a table grill.
Thanks for all the recipes! Looking forward to trying out the steamed pork buns! I’ve had them at dim sum but I’ve never tried Japanese-style ones.
Rib Eye Steak cooked over the coals…just the right heat and time will give you a delicious steak. Salt and pepper is all you need to season a great steak
At a small wedding reception in the art gallery in Morimoto’s Napa, had the best steak I ever ate. Just a generous piece of Wagyu, medium rare seared to perfection sprinkled with a little sea salt.
Simple and perfect.
I’ve had a few good steaks over the years, but the one that stands out in my mind was a buffalo steak that a friend prepared for me on his bbq, and my goodness did I moan when I ate it. Sooooo delicious. I’m not sure what he did to that steak, but it was magic in my mouth 🙂

The best steak I ever had was at Gallaghers Steak house in New York , New York casino in Las Vegas. It was a dry aged strip steak prepared by simply grilling over hickory chips. Didn’t need anything else on it or with it but a simple side. Melted in your mouth and delicious. Love your website by the way. We make your Miso Ramen and charsu pork belly at least two -three times a month! Can’t wait to try Tje steamed pork buns I saw today! Keep up amazing work!!!!

I love Wagyu! It’s a MUST every time I visited Japan. My best friend’s family actually has a farm raising Wagyu in Roanoke, Indiana. I was lucky to visit their farm where everything is so natural and try the Wagyu at their restaurant. Every single bite was heavenly delicate. The farm welcomes everyone to visit and they are very very nice people!
Oh forgot to say the name. It’s Joseph Decuis, and it was simply grilled medium rare. I love how their slogan is “Farm to Fork”, which literally is! Hope you can try it some time if you’re around that area by any chance. It will be such an amazing experience.
I don’t remember, I was never that much into meat to begin with and have been a vegetarian for years.

Best tasting home grilled is when cooked over real charcoals not briquets
The best steak had was in Hokkaido, Japan. It was a piece of Wagyu steak, just lightly seasoned and cooked to a medium rare……delicious.
The best steak I’ve ever had was a special treat from my father. He seasoned and cooked for me a beautiful tenderloin for my birthday. It was the best steak because it was not only really delicious but it was also full of love.
My father grilled rump steaks with chips on Saturdays at our home in Gloucester England to give my mum a break from cooking. I loved thick sliced crusty bread dipped in the juices from the grill pan, the grilled portobello mushrooms and tomatoes, my first taste of searing horseradish at the age of 9. But mainly it was the love care and attention my father gave to the cooking to show his love for his family, using the money he made from his second job cleaning windows to buy the steaks from a butcher in the days before supermarkets.
The best steak that I have ever prepared at home was a ribeye where I took the time to prepare an intensely hot fire in the fire pit in my backyard using hickory wood 🙂

The best steaks I’ve had were made by my husband. He cooks them in a cast-iron skillet and then deglazes it with wine and cream to make a pan sauce. He’s used wine or truffle salt to finish the steaks, which adds wonderful flavor.

The best steak I have ever had was in a strange little place in Osaka .. it was literally a giant grill .. in a tiny bar type restaurant .. the flavour was amazing .. and the atmosphere was smokey and drunk! Fresh chopped garlic on top .. I think I only had steak, with no sides … just meat – LOL
I can’t really crown an overall best, but I’ve had some memorable steaks. The classic porterhouse at Peter Luger’s in Brooklyn is always good, and the rare occasion when Sakagura in NY, offers wagyu ishiyaki is always delightful. Beech Tree Farms in NJ has steak that does tend to be on the leaner side, but the beef flavor is so pure (and intense) that I would be remiss not to mention them. I believe that they do pasture raised, with a mix of heritage breed cows and some mixed breeds that they plan themselves.

The best steak I ever had was an amazing Chateaubriand at Bern’s Steakhouse in Tampa, Florida. It was perfectly rare to medium-rare and could have been cut with a butter knife. That night was probably 25 years ago and I still remember that steak!
On SSDI; I’ve only dreamed about how wonderful these taste
Best steaks are at Heston Bar in LaPorte, Indiana!

Best steak I had was beef wellington at a resort, i think they used filet mignon, the meat is so tender and juicy, the crust was flaky and thin. I only ate well done beef before that, this experience changed it and I never ordered a well done steak ever again.

The best steak I ever had was at Mastro’s Ocean Club in Las Vegas. It was their waygu beef and they simply pan fried it.
The best steak was in Japan at a teppanyaki. Now in the states its a backyard bbq ribeye!
Never had Japanese steak before.
One of the best steaks I’ve ever had was in Osaka, Japan. It was a perfectly prepared saikoro steak. Authentic Kobe beef. Still the steak I measure all steaks by.

The best steaks were at John Howes Steak House in Bellevue, WA. They also offer Kobe beef. Delicious and a must try if you visit the Seattle area.
Best steak I’ve ever had was probably the one from Sullivan’s Steakhouse when I was in Seattle. Their filet mignon was tender, moist and juicy. The glaze was a bit sweet but I like it. The creamed spinach thingy was so good. The cocktail was also nice. Actually everything was great, it was a perfect dinner. I seldom eat steak since I’m seafood lover but I would love to go back there for another dinner! The ambience and the jazzy music playing make it a great place for special occasion. You should try when you go to seattle 🙂
I really want to try REAL wagyu beef. Many restaurants in Jakarta (Indonesia) claimed that their steaks are wagyu, priced like real ones, but to me they didn’t even look like wagyu beef at all. The marble, the tenderness…it’s disappointing. Maybe only in five-star hotels they would serve the real ones? But the price would be five-star too…my poor wallet LOL. I’ll go try it if I score the $150. That would be nice, making my tummy happy without making my wallet sad..hahah
The best steak I’ve ever had was a BMS 6 wagyu steak, done medium on my dedicated steak pan (yes, I have a pan just for steak), and served with a bit of pepper and sauce made from wasabi and mayonnaise. Not cheap, but definitely worth it!
Shogun Steak House in Orlando, Florida
The best steak I ever had was kobe from Japan (not sure which specific type now that you have educated me!) at a little Japanese restaurant. I was horrified by how expensive it was (and even more horrified with how little came out in the dish), but my brother insisted I try it as it was “the best beef you could ever eat”… and I wasn’t disappointed!
If only I could win the wagyu. Yum!
My husband (a chef) made the most delicious steak from freshly butchered beef in Colorado with salt, pepper and butter. Delicious.

I just started following you on Facebook, YouTube, and email… you’re wonderful! Such beautifully presented delicious recipes that satisfy my Japanese cravings while teaching me more about the culture. My favorite steak was a filet mignon at a Ruth’s Chris years ago that fell apart with my fork. I requested it rare, and they actually prepared it rare!

I’ve only had Wagyu beef once and that was at Nobus Restaurant served in a “taco”. So I don’t think I could fully appreciate the beef taste and texture. I really enjoyed the ribeye steak I had at Tommy Bahama restaurant in Waikoloa. Cooked medium to perfection and the flavor was perfect too!
