When you are running short on time, make dashi (Japanese soup stock) using a convenient dashi packet. I‘Il show you how quick and easy it is to make. The packet produces much more flavorful soup stock than one made with dashi powder.
To a medium saucepan, add 2 cups water and 1 dashi packet.
Start cooking over medium heat and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium low and simmer for 2–3 minutes. Shake the bag a few times to release more flavor from the bag.
Discard the packet. The dashi is ready to use.
To Store
You can keep the dashi in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days. I don‘t recommend to freeze dashi made with dashi packet.
