5 Must Have Japanese Kitchen Tools.

I’m starting a new series on our YouTube channel, Tea Time with Nami. In this series, I’ll be talking about all kinds of topics beyond my recipes. I’d like to take this opportunity to answer some of the questions you have and connect with JOC readers and viewers outside of making delicious Japanese dishes.

I love this website, it’s resources, recommendations, articles, photography and content.

Hi Melissa!
Thank you very much for your kind feedback!
We are happy to hear you enjoy our website.😊

In your video you taught us the 5 essential cooking tools. I would please like to know the 5th tool. Is it Otoshi Buta? How can I order from US?
Thanks

I would like to buy a Yukihara saucepan. Who makes one that you can recommend?

Thanks for all the deliciousness you share…

Warmest regard,

Mike

Hi Nami,

I got back from Tokyo a week ago and loved all the food so much that I wanted to start learning to make it myself back home. On Googling Japanese recipes, I found this amazing site and I’m so excited to explore it and get lots of recipes together to start my Japanese cooking journey.

Thanks so much!

I just joined 4 days ago to your website. I am not very good with the computer but I thought that if I go on the computer I could print out what you have sent me.I am 74 years old and of Japanese ,Chinese and Hawaiian. I have always loved to cook and it comes from my Chinese grandfather and my japanese father.I have always loved nishme but never tried ti make it until New Yeaars day cause my granddaughter who came home frome Austraila taking aboutt our japanese culture and decided to goon line on my phone to see if i could find the recipe for Nishime. My granddaughter has the soupy version. A week later I tried your recipe and my granddaughter thought it was awesome. Tomorrow is ny 5th day and what do I do next? What do I have to purchase to continue toget your site? I am on the apple compuier but I always get my email on my iPhone. Hope to hear from you soon.

I am looking for a good basic wok. Mine is in storage & bought overseas, so I want a good replacement. Can you recommend one? I love your site & am having so much fun experimenting with your wonderful recipes.
Thank you!
Nancy

Hi, I got your ebook, thank you!

Can you send me a list with the names of the five kitchen tools.
I want to buy them,

Thank you,

I was hoping your favorite five might include Benriner. And of course how to avoid cutting your fingers.

Do you have these five tools anywhere on the site? You didn’t list them below the video, and I couldn’t get all the names down. Thanks!

Thank you!~ I wish you could also say where one might purchase these tools … I have not seen them in Asian Markets I frequent. But I’ll look harder!

Hi,
I love your site and use it quite often. I just watched your first episode of Teatime and have all the tools except a collapsible otoshibuta. I have a fixed size. I checked online and don’t see a source for the one like yours. Did you find it in CA or Japan?
thanks

Hi Nami. Where can I buy the trays you use when prepping your food items? These are the white with blue edges.
