Ichimi Togarashi (一味唐辛子) literary means “one flavor chili pepper”, and consists of just ground red chili pepper.
Where to Purchase Ichimi Togarashi
My favorite brand is Yawataya Isogoro Ichimi Togarashi and you can purchase it on Amazon or at Japanese grocery stores. You can find the S&B and House brands on Amazon.
Are Ichimi and Shichimi Togarashi the Same?
They do sound similar but Ichimi Togarashi and Shichimi Togarashi are different.
- Ichimi (一味) is made of red chili pepper
- Shichimi (七味) is made of a mix of chili pepper and other spices (shichi means ‘seven’ in Japanese).
