Congratulations Amy Tong! I’ll email you shortly. 🙂
Hi Nami,
Thank you for hosting this giveaway! The thing that I think could improve JOC is the flashing advertisements. I understand that advertisements are a big way fund this page, but it can get distracting and sometimes cause my page to take awhile to load (it could also just be my internet provider that makes it slow). Otherwise, I think you and Mr. JOC are doing a great job.
I have liked and been following your FB posts, Nami.
Hi Nami!
I like receiving your regular email and link to your JOC website. I find it easy to navigate and find recipes. As I live in Australia, I would think it could be helpful to find stockists (stores and online) of Japanese ingredients, food and utensils that ship within or to my country. Also, it could be great if there was a reliable online retailer from Japan that would send to Australia.
It looks like you’re having a great time in Japan! I hope one day if you come to Australia, I could meet you too!
I think your blog is great and the recipes you post are great! Something that may be of great benefit to your readers (including me) would be a page dedicated to some easier substitutions that one can make for the more exotic asian ingredients listed in a recipe. I know this may change the authenticity and taste of a dish but sometimes that is a risk I am willingly to take!
It’d be cool if you had a section for cooking for one person (portion wise) or perhaps under the ingredients, you can suggest brands of ingredients that you suggest or that you recommend.
Not quite something to improve, but more of a suggestion. Personally, I’d love to see more traditional Japanese dishes and hear about their cultural significance in-depth.
However, I think it would be just as interesting if you could spice up your recipe list by creating unusual but surprisingly delicious dishes (for example; miso-apple pie).
It’s so interesting! I’d love to know more about Japanese/American housekeeping differences!
I am really new to your blog… (SO HAPPY I FOUND IT!!) I haven’t spent as much time browsing through your recipes as I’d like (two children under three – you know how that goes) But, what I would really love to see is more vegetarian or vegan recipes or using more meat analog products like tempeh or even vegetarian fish balls (yeah, ran into those the other day in the freezer section at my local Asian market – surprise, surprise, Omaha!) I’ve recently been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and going through an elimination diet has proven that I have a soy intolerance, though soy/wheat blend soy sauce seems okay. And I can handle wheat and gluten (praise God!). It’s sad because I love tofu and edamame and soy milk, and the like. So, I’d also love to see suggestions on alternatives to tofu in Asian cooking. Thanks again!
