Japanese cuisine tends to be seasonal and plant-based, incorporating herbs, vegetables, tofu and wheat gluten. However, eating an entirely vegan diet in Japan can be a challenge. Kokoro Care Packages has curated a selection of exclusively vegan products in their upcoming August “Vegan” Care Package.

What’s in the Vegan Nourishing Care Package

Each winner will win a box of Kokoro Care Package that features:

RAW OKARA (SOYBEAN PULP)

Typically found dried, this unique okara (soybean pulp) is a first in the industry to be available raw (which helps to maintain its moisture) without requiring refrigeration before opening. It’s made in small batches and is a popular gluten-free substitute for wheat flour with less sugar.

IMO KENPI (SWEET POTATO FRIES SNACK)

A popular, crunchy Japanese snack made from sweet potatoes in the shape of thin french fries and coated in sugar. These capture the nostalgic taste of imo kenpi in an all-natural, old-fashioned snack made from sweet potatoes from Kyushu.

ORGANIC MISO SOUP

This organic vegan miso soup uses an entirely plant based seasoned miso which is combined with organic spinach, tofu and green onions to create a delicious and unique vegan miso soup that is slightly sweeter than regular miso soup.

NORI PASTE WITH YUZU KOSHO (NORI KURO)

This artisanal condiment combines two iconic Japanese spreads: nori paste (tsukudani) and yuzu kosho, blended with a carefully selected vinegar which perfectly enhances the flavor of the seaweed and the spicy tingle of the yuzu kosho.

YUME-WAKABA SINGLE ORIGIN PREMIUM SAYAMA TEA

This sencha green tea is a relatively new and rare cultivar from the famous tea producing region of Sayama in Saitama Prefecture. It’s a single variety tea cultivated only in the Shimizuen plantation and has a signature aroma of vanilla and milk.
