Hello, Nami. Greetings from Colombia, in South America. I have always been drawn towards Japan and Japanese culture. Today I am 52; when I was a child, my goal in life was to go to Japan before I became 40. I had the fortune to visit Japan when I was just 20. I went to Ishinomaki, Sanuma, Kesennuma, Ooshima, Sendai, Tokio, and many other places. I was so lucky! I also like to cook, and looking for tempura recipes, I found your newsletter. I love your recipes, and have tried several of them. They are very clear to follow, so I really thank you for your newsletter and your dedication. Congratulations on your anniversary. I wish you and your family all the best. どうもありがとうございました。

Thank you for your wonderful website. I am from Singapore but my family and I love Japan, visiting once a year. When we are at home, I have used your recipes (so easy but they taste great) to re-create the food we enjoy in Japan – matcha ice cream, beef gyudon, udon soup, sesame dressing, Mochi, Nama chocolate, ginger pork. I have also recommended your site to my friends and they love it too.
Thank you and keep up the good work!
I love the look of the chicken spring rolls 🙂 I’m going to try them out the first chance I get!
Hello Nami,
When I lived in Japan my Japanese roommate used to make this one fish dish that was really tasty. I can’t tell you what fish she used because I forgot but what made it so tasty was this miso based coating which she covered the fish in. Do you know the recipe?
Thank you,

Thanks for everything!! Hope you are feeling better.
Hello from Mexico. You’re doing a great job, keep up the good work.
Nami: Yours is a success story based on hard work and a passionate love of cooking.
I think you are great and do a great job, even with two beautiful children – you involve
the whole family in your work. Mr. JOC has really helped with all the photography, but
without your love of and passion for Japanese food and the intense focus that it takes
to get this all done on a regular basis to give to US, your subscribers, is AMAZING.
Congratulations on a great success story and many happy hours of cooking for all of us!
Congratulations on your wonderful accomplishments. The Lord has tremendously blessed you. We were missionaries in Japan from 1960-1977 and of course love Japanese food. Your website is a great boon to us! I love how you include your whole family on your website. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing that! I moved here when I was 15! So I’ve been here for almost 25 years now! I remember it was crazy cold in Chicago. We stayed with my Uncle in Munster,IN for 2 weeks and then moved to NC. We have been here ever since! I had it easier though cause my whole family moved here from the Philippines and my dad’s side of the family were mostly concentrated in NC. So I went from having no cousins close to me to having this huge security blanket of cousins!
Hi Nami, I love making your cheesecake recipe!
HI Nami, whenever I feel like cooking Japanese, I’ll look through your recipes for inspiration. You never let me down. Thank you. Keep up the good work!

Hi Nami!
Hello
Do you have the onigiri recipe along with how to wrap it like the sold at market?
Hi. So got a friend that’s in Japan for a while and I was wondering what items do I absolutely need to make any Japanese recipe. There is only one market that sales some stuff that I may need like basic sushi equipment the most basic but there is a lot of stuff I can’t get over here also would the price be less expensive getting it directly from the source?
Hi Nami,
I have been wanting a wok and a steamer and the Amazon gift card would help me get one or even both of them. By the way, my Mom is Japanese and came to the US in 1955 🙂 I love your emails and your recipes!
HI! 🙂
I just LOVE all of your recipes and “HOW TO” videos, I am from Hawaiian but live on the the mainland. I just miss the FOOD soooo much. A visit to Japan is on my bucket list, someday, someday.

Hi Nami !! Like always so happy to read you, and very thankful for your amazing work and share whit us! I would like to know if you know how to make lobster rolls ( in a bun ) I been searching all over internet and can’t found the recipe to make the stemmed buns! I try in Toronto in a Japanese fusion food truck the famous lobster roll in a steamed bun… They are to kill for it! Amazing! But it seams like I cannot found the recipe for those yummy fresh stemmed buns, the buns texture and look is very similar to the Nikuman! Don’t know! Hope you can help! I have enjoyed your blog and many of your recipes. You make Japanese cooking so easy for a not-so-great cook such as I am. Even dishes made by my husband for my picky Japanese mother have turned out well. My husband and I both love the no-fry tonkatsu and chicken-katsu. I’ve used the method for no-fry kaki-furai, too.
A cooking dummy now can cook Japanese food! Thank you!!!
My family loves the salmon fried rice! Hope to receiver more delicious receipes!

I d love to make mochi again, glutinous rice flour is hard to find here. Also who wouldnt want more matcha to spice up a cake or two? That would be pure bliss. The taiyaki im going to try will be custard cream like a cart i once had anko taiyaki filled once. They were mini minnows! The mold must have been a great one! Cheers to good enthusiastic bakers, cooks and people who love food worldwide . Its great you have a page to inspire . Good luck everyone!

Thank you Nami for sponsoring this giveaway. I have a question, I actually bought bakeable green tea powder for baking but am not sure if it can be used for matcha ice-cream. I have gone to Japanese goods shops in Malaysia but I am not sure if the green tea powder is strong enough for great matcha ice-cream.
Regards,
Joelyn

Hi,
I enjoy your blog. It is one of the few sites I visited for recipes.
Please continue to inspire us, woohoo!!
Hi Nami, i really love how you prepare your recipes! Keep it up…
Looking forward to more of your recipes.
Thank you for amazing recipes! I have googled Japanese ryouri many times but I always end up on your website – with amazing results at that. So many recipes left for me to try… this would really aid in the hunt of needed ingredients, which always ends up being the main obstacle. Keep up the good work!
P.S. I do have a query… Been trying to find a recipe for the exquisite Hoba-miso paste (from the Hida region in Gifu prefecture). I was served this every morning during my visit to Takayama, it came on a heated Magnolia leaf and had the most rich, savoury flavour I’ve ever tasted! I’m dying to find a recipe that will help me recreate something that would resemble this, if even remotely… Arigatou gozaimasu! D.S.
Thank you for all the amazing recipes! ♥
Hi Nami! I love your recipes! I lived in Japan for 6 years & really miss the FOOD!!!!
