Last summer we had an opportunity to visit one of the restaurants with most sought-after reservations in Tokyo, Michelin-two-star Den by chef Zaiyu Hasegawa. You can read more about our dining experience on this blog post. At the restaurant, we purchased his cookbook“DEN – The Evolving Tokyo-Japanese Cuisine” and today I’m giving away one to a lucky winner.
“DEN – The Evolving Tokyo-Japanese Cuisine” cookbook features many of his signature dishes, including his Foie Gras Monaka (wafer sandwich), Den Garden Salad, classic Dentucky Fried Chicken, and Donabe-Gohan (clay pot-cooked rice). If you’re a fan of chef Zaiyu Hasegawa or have an interest in unique kaiseki dishes, Hasegawa’s cookbook will inspire you and give you a glance of Japanese kaiseki cuisine. Just a heads-up, it’s not a cookbook to learn the basics.
The cookbook is mostly in Japanese, but it does come with some English text and recipes, and enough sumptuous images to arouse your appetite and give a good taste of what makes Hasegawa’s cooking so special.

Tried Kaiseki when I was in Kyoto a few years ago and it was an absolute highlight of my trip. Crossing my fingers for the DEN cookbook for the inspiration!
