I’m partnering with Nihon Ichiban to give away 3 sets of the following items:
1 pack of bamboo barks1 pack of bamboo leavesWorldwide free shipping by registered mail (import duties to be covered by the winner) when you shop at Nihon Ichiban
Japanese food is often presented on top of bamboo leaves. They are often used in restaurants, but now you can do the same at home!
Rice balls used to be wrapped with a bamboo bark in old days when there was no “bento box”. Bamboo barks have anti bacterial effect and they are breathable. Soak the bamboo barks in water before use. Enjoy the rice balls in style! 😉

I am so happy to have found this website for japanese food! it is not so easy on Mallorca, Spain to find some things!
After testing it, I am not going to ask anything in content, but in tecnology. When I searched for an item, for example “Dashi” it took really long to get a result. This would be great, if it would go quicker. Thanks a lot for sharing so amazing recipes!
I would love to see a bigger selection of higher end Japanese snacks. I’ve been wanting to try a brand called Marshmallow Elegance!
One of your recipes recommends using suribachi. That would be a good item to sell since you would not find that in North American houseware stores. Not even in most Asian houseware stores unless they specifically sell Japanese items. I was looking for a suribachi all over Toronto luckily we have “J-Town” Japanese supermarket/housewares store.
Hello! There is a type of plum I used to be able to get at our Japanese store, but they stopped carrying it years ago due to it’s price. Unfortunately I don’t know the name of it – it is Italian plums salted then jarred with shiso leaves in a sweet syrup. My aunt used to make it as well. A small jar of this imported into Vancouver, BC retailed around $15, that was about 20 years ago. I would love to see this available on Nihon Ichiban.
Thank you!

It was so hard to find something that I would like to see on Nihon Ichiban, because they have so much great choice! However, one of my favorite Japanese sweets I couldn’t find: Kinako mochi.
Thank you! Greets from Germany – Lotte
I always wanted to get some kind of Takoyaki pan to make some at homeCeramic kitchen knife. That would be neat. Those stuff is lacking from where i am from.
I bought a cake pop maker, the little machine kind similar to a waffle maker, and use it to make takoyaki.
If you just leave the top open, you can use the little circle molds the same way you would w real pan. It’s pretty easy and convenient enough to clean and use, I like that I can just plug it in anywhere and cook.
I got the idea from Emmy made in Japan on YouTube. Her stuff is really cool too, I’d seriously suggest trying it out.
You can make bubble waffles in the cake pop maker too which are super~ good! As well as endless little cake pop recipes!
Just an option that might be more available to you 🙂
Japanese snacks!!!
I need a wooden Onigiri box mold. Thank you
Love your recipes. Just tried the eggplant wrapped in pork, perfect!
i think it’d be cool to be able to buy more cute cooking/baking supplies? like silicon trays used for making cookies/chocolate in cute shapes (:
The modern style cedar bentwood bento lunch box pillow is something I would like from Nihon Ichiban! It’s so unique 🙂
