Taiyaki (鯛焼き) is a traditional Japanese fish-shape cake filled with red bean paste.
The Taiyaki shops use big cast iron pans like these to make many taiyaki at the same time.
For home use, we use a mini taiyaki maker like this below. And today I’m giving away a Taiyaki Makers to three (3) readers around the world!

What a fund giveaway! I would probably put some form of red bean paste in the taiyaki!

My favorite filling is red bean paste but the custard is also pretty good. If I made them at home is probably stick to red bean paste. White bean paste is also tasty. I found that once in Hirosaki.
I LIKE JOC on Facebook!
there is a taiyaki store nearby that sells croissant taiyaki. They had a cinnamon apple/custard filling once and it was so good! Unconventional but definitely my favorite so far 🙂

I love the red bean paste filling!
I think making it with either a chocolate sauce or caramel sauce would be perfect for dessert ^-^ Or maybe a delicious strawberry or grape jam if I was eating it for breakfast 🙂
I would definitely stick with anko! I LOVE traditional flavors the best and this is one of my favorites. 🙂
