Just One Cookbook celebrates its 7 year blog anniversary with a big international giveaway!
January 1, 2018 was JOC’s seven year blog anniversary. Seven years! If this blog was our baby (which would make it our third baby), he/she would be in 2nd grade! Wow, I can hardly believe how fast these seven years have gone, and how much our community has grown.
Heartfelt Thank You from Us
Mr. JOC and I would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for spending your precious time reading our blog, watching our videos, following our social media, and trying out our recipes!
Among all the resources available online or in publication for Japanese cooking, we feel very humble and honored that you continue to choose our website and YouTube channel to learn Japanese cooking from us. We are truly thankful for your ongoing, incredible support of our work!
Seven Items We Use Everyday & Can’t Live Without
Me (in no specific order)
- MacBook Pro (and iPhone) – Upside of having a MacBook Pro is I can work anywhere and everywhere, and downside is I am working all the time.
- Flat Whisk – I get asked about the whisk that I use in my videos EVERY SINGLE DAY. Who knew it would be the most in-demand kitchen item? Well, the whisk is sure very useful. I use it every day for whisking eggs, salad dressing or sauce.
- Korean Spoon – Surprised? I’m a huge fan of Korean stainless spoon sets. My mom is a fan first and she got me hooked on these durable spoons. It’s so easy to eat and cook with them.
- Pentel EnerGel 0.7 – These are my go-to pens. You can find them on my desk and in my bag.
- Insulated Stainless Steel Travel Mug – I sip Japanese Iced Coffee, Cold Brew , or tea all day long in this mug. It goes with me everywhere I go.
- TOMS Shoes – Their shoes, boots, sandals are so comfortable and awesome!
- Microfiber Hair Towel – I do not like blowing hair at all… so these towels are like my hair dryer (I’m serious!).
Mr. JOC
- Coffee Server & Dripper for Japanese Iced Coffee – Nami got me hooked on a love for coffee to start each day. Nothing beats the flavor and smoothness of Japanese iced coffee in the morning!
- Axe hair wax – This is how I start each morning, with messy hair.
- iPad Pro – Even though iPads are not as popular as they used to be, I still love my iPad Pro. While Nami loves her Macbook Pro and takes it everywhere with her, iPad Pro does the job for me. Whether it is to check emails, to read a book, or to watch movies on the airplane, iPad Pro makes a great companion.
- Uniqlo Airism T-shirts – I just love these airism t-shirts. They feel like you’re wearing… air.
- Adidas Cloudfoam Shoes – One of the daily rituals we do as a family is we go on walks around the neighborhood everyday after dinner. These Adidas cloudfoam shoes are our favorite.
- Kind Bars – I used to love eating different types of bread for breakfast. To cut dow my carb intake, I started eating Kind Bars with my coffee. What’s great about Kind Bars is there are so many flavors so I don’t get tired of them. Now only if I can stop the kids from raiding my Kind Bars!
- Electric Tea Kettle – Nami and I drink tea all day. Depending on the type of tea, they should be brewed at different temperatures. We love this electric tea kettle as it comes with different temperature settings. For a cleaner taste, we also recommend buying a stainless steel kettle rather than a plastic kettle.
What are your recent favorite things?

I love your blog so much!!! I look forward to your future recipes!
LOVE your blog and have made quite a few of your recipes. I have extra korokke in my freezer right now!
I love your recipes and Mr. JOC’s photography/video work.
Have been subscribed to the newsletter for awhile now. Suggestions? It’s a great blog already; I like the Pantry section.
Hello Nami and Mr. JOC,
I really love the content of both your post in this blog and your post in youtube.
My feedback will be to post more often and probably include more easy and quick recipes, like the ‘Salmon in foil’ recipe because it really helped me a lot to make a homemade meal after a long day at work 🙂
Thank you and keep updating the blog and videos! This is the first food/lifestyle/recipe blog that i ever and will always follow.
Bryan
Love your recipes. My go to.
your posts are amazing
(I’m an email subscriber) my suggestion last time you asked was for more gluten free, which you’ve done, so…. Just keep up the good work I guess! Love the blog so much, so many good recipes!
I h love following you and trying your recipes. Keep up the great work!
Hello, I love your blog! But it crashes a lot for me. It happens on every computer I veiw it on. It will freeze, and then I’ll exit and go back into my recipe in a new tab. Thanks for everything! I love in PA, USA but I am from Ohio natively.
I love JOC! I’ve made several recipes from the blog. My recommendation would be to have the recipe higher up in the mobile friendly version
thanks for all the recipes.
Honestly what you are doing is great! I love the email updates and your videos are great. 😉 more giveaways!
I love your recipes! I found your blog by chance about a year ago and began regularly making your recipes with my kids this year. My only advice to you is—don’t change. You have made such a wealth of information available that it boggles the mind. The amount of effort and care you put into your posts boggles the mind. You don’t just give the facts—you give the context. And that gives your dishes, and indeed the process of cooking, extra meaning. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
congratulations on 7 years! i started following your blog 2-3 ywars ago and gave tried many of your recipes!! ????
You have the best giveaways! I love the blog: looking forward to more recipes.
Coming up with a suggestion is hard, you are my favorite blog for a reason! Maybe more recipes involving tea? Or more kitchen themed tutorials about specialized for Japanese cooking tools. Congrats on the anniversary!
Congatulations from Germany! My family and I love your recipes. My 9 year old daughter has now started learning to cook with your recipes and loves it! Thank you!
Please keep up the great work you are doing.
Nami san and Mr. JOC,
We are grateful for the recipes, yes, and the Japanese culture, yes, but more so we have seen you and your family grow and have learned so much. Doomo arigatoo gozaimashita…we look forward to many more years of your guidance and sharing. From all your gakusei….
Mike
So very happy to have found your recipes. I am half Japanese, and am always looking for more comfort food recipes.
These is so amazing!!! I hope I get to win something
I find the recipes really easy to follow and make right. Since I also now have an instant pot, it would be nice to see more pressure cooker recipes.
More posts about Japanese culture and travel would be great!
I love your recipes. Thank you for sharing Japanese cooking with the world!
I love your Blog and think you do a fantastic job…No changes I love it just the way you are…Grreat Recipes The best videos…Just good all around …Thanks so much for all your work
I found your website as I was browsing to make Teriyaki Salmon. I learned so much and wonderful video. Oh my! I was super excited to see other recipes to try and NOT ONE has EVER FAILED ME. AMAZING recipes, instructions and videos and I cannot say how in love I am with JOC!!!!
Hi JOC you guys are awesome and doing a great job!! Have subscribed to your newsletter for quite some time and still looked to your blog for recipes and tips on japanese cooking! Thanks and keep up the good work! Terry_chew@hotmail.com
Im from singapore btw
Great recipes. Always look forward to reading them.
My suggestion is that I would like to see more videos using the Instant Pot. Also, more videos on easy weeknight meals would be great! Thank you!
Look forward to year 8.
My husband and I love your blog! It’s definitely inspired us to cook more! I know it would be hard, but it would be great if there were videos for everything! Also if you could put the amount of food in the instructions itself so that we don’t have to scroll back to the top to remember how much we’re suppose to cut or put it.
I don’t have feedback exactly. I find your Web site very helpful with lots of pictures and videos, as well as clear instructions. I refer to your site first for Japanese cooking, usually even before my Japanese cookbooks.
I found you via Google when I was looking for how to make something (don’t remember specifically now which recipe).
I appreciate the occasional cultural or historical lessons along with the recipes. It’s nice to have the significance explained along with the procedures.
Thank you for all that you do!
I’m down w/ Mr. JOC on the KIND bars. They’re my go to monologue snack (Colbert/ Seth Meyers).
Congratulations on 7 years! Here’s hoping for 7 more! Maybe in the future I will find more amazing gluten free recipes from you!
I’d love to see more recipes from Midnight Diner and other Japanese food-oriented shows on Netflix!
I’ve been reading your recipes, and watching the videos for almost a year now. And while you thank us for reading, I feel I must thank YOU for opening up the world of Japanese home cooking to me! You have no idea how much this has meant to me.
Hi Nami, I love your blog. I love the easy directions on your recipes & I really love your travel blogs. I do have one suggestion though. Would it be possible in the future for you to work on posting nutritional information on your recipes? As well as what a serving size is? Thanks!
Love your blog, I’m fairly new and don’t have a ton of feedback but was told from my friend about your blog. I love the photos and commentary.
I love your videos! They’re really helpful. Congrats on 7 years! Thank you for the giveaway. As far as suggestions, I can’t think of much. Coffee recipes are great.
Still a cook who likes coffee.
Still a homemaker who likes sewing.
Surprised you are not famous yet.
Make sure that Julian isn’t bigger than you.
You are not going to own Tumblebums toy store?
Congratulations! Love your blog. Tried a lot of your recipes and they’re easy, simple and so delicious. Thank you so much for sharing.
Love your recipes! I’m just beginning to learn my way around your blog and recipes so no suggestion at this point!
Congratulations on your 7th year anniversary! Here’s to another 7! 🙂
I love the blog. To be honest I don’t often get to watch videos because my kids show up and stick their heads in front of my screen but if I leave the sound off I enjoy watching them – it feels like being in the kitchen with you! Congratulations on 7 years!
Happy birthday and wil be many more successful years to come Nami!
I love the website. Good recipe, professional videos and good content.
One area for improvement, I often watch the videos on the blog via my iPhone and often it will crash and I need to restart my browser or I will try and find the video on YouTube. I am not entirely sure of the cause, I was wondering if it was the ads. I don’t have the same experience with other sites so don’t think it’s my iphone’s Issue.
Hope the feedback is useful.
Taking my cooking to another level in 2018! Thanks JOC!!!
Happy, happy, happy 7th Blogversary ! Have been with you for about five of those just looking at your children’s growth! Miraculously neither Mr JOC nor you have grown one day older 🙂 ! Would not go elsewhere for my knowledge of food Japanese so you better stay put for the next seven!
I like your blog. Please include more giveaways.
7 Years!! Congratulations!
Love the travel blogs and recipes you share.
Honestly,I’ve been following your blog for many years and i think the natural evolution its taken has been great. I like reading about your familys trips to japan..your recipes and advice on products and equipment are helpful and enjoyabke. Thank you so much!
Since I started subscribing to your blog and following your IG, I find that being a housewife’s so much easier with the gadgets and recipes you introduce to your readers. Thank you very much to you and your team. 🙂 Many more years to celebrate!
Congratulations on 7 years! Has it really been that long? Time flies!
I love how your recipes are delicious but also easy to make! Thanks for doing this giveaway. 🙂 I would love some posts about how to make recipes that are similar to Japanese cooking without Japanese ingredients. (For example, sometimes I make okonomiyaki using plain flour, bacon, and barbeque sauce. It’s definitely a different taste, but it’s pretty good!) Maybe that’s blasphemy?
Hello!
My suggestion would be to post western / other continents’ recipes once in a while ????
Thank you and happy 7th anniversary ????????
Hi! Thanks for your always yummy recipes, and I’m subscribed to your email list!
I love all your cooking videos! They are very nicely done. I am wondering if you can offer gluten-free, non-dairy, and non-egg swaps in your instructions. It would be nice to know if you can substitute fruit for white sugar in any of your recipes. Thank you so much.
Was recommended by hubby and I would like to say your recipes are awesome.
So far, only managed to try out your earl grey chiffon cake recipe. Hope will get to try on others in time to come.
Oh ya, forget to mention that I’m from Singapore. ????
Hi Nami- My family and I love Japanese food, and you’re recipes are so delicious and simple to make. Thank you for taking the time to create your site, it has been a life and game changer in the kitchen.
I will say that all the recipes are interesting and well photographed. As someone who never was really taught much about their Japanese heritage, each recipe is educational in many ways.
I was born in a Mexican Jewish family and cooking was always a part of our family gatherings. But to be honest I have always felt more connected to japanese culture and food! I cook Japanese cuisine daily and your newsletter helps me learn and challenge me every day! When my husband and I visited Japan I would try many things based on your posts. Thanks so much for all you do! Love following along!
Congratulations on turning 7!!! I first found you through your YouTube! I was looking for an instant pot pressure cooker Japanese curry recipe! I make your curry all the time when we need comfort food. Could you add more recipes related to pressure cooking, Especially Japanese types/inspired food!
Thank you, Nami! Your contest is amazing and congratulations!
With love and blessings!
I love these recipes. My Mom is the same way, she cooks her Japanese food without measuring anything. How did you figure out how to convert your Mom’s recipes into measurable units?
I haven’t watched any of the videos yet, but I really like that you have them! Sometimes a difficult concept is much easier to explain by showing someone… I would love to see a video on how to do those rolled omelets, I’m terrible at pouring thin layers of egg and not having it all stick and… WELL~ Let’s just say they never turn out pretty!
I love the website. It answers many of my questions about wonderful Japanese cuisine. I know where to buy ingredients. The website is colorful, easy to search for specific things, well organized. I love step-by-step videos and instructions!! Always happy to get news from Nami.
I have been a subscriber to your channel and I have made a couple of your recipes. They all came out really good. Since my husband is Japanese, I look forward to making him some of your Japanese recipes. The only suggestion I have for your video is (and I know this is difficult) more Chinese recipes. Congratulations on 7 years!!
Love your recipes – I adjust as needed to copy my obaachan’s 味 ????
I would love suggestions on Japanese utensils for cooking as well as cooking instruments. I love the food but when you have shown us different things like the wooden box etc I have learned even more! Thanks again!
After living in Japan for 6 years, I longed for recipe so of foods that I fell in love with. Thank you so much for your amazing recipes, photos, and videos!
I like your blog and learn more from here like one of my favourite is fried salmon rice , is easy to cook. Support always.
Love your blog, keep the recipes comng
Would love to see some catfish recipes.
Hello Nani.
I married into a Japanese family and have made many of your recipes for my family and in-laws. My in-laws are always very happy with the taste of your recipes and say that they bring back many good memories.
Thank you for making Japanese food fun and easy to prepare.
Kristen
Congratulations on 7 years!
I would love to see if all dishes will have tutorial video attached to the page itself as I’m a beginner in cooking. Or maybe JOC mobile app : ) with meal planner features that will be superb
Overall I love it.
Hi, I found your website from Hiragana Mama. My mom is Japanese and I miss Japanese food so much so your blog has been a lifesaver. Thank you so much!
Hi Nami & Mr JOC!
I’m Huilan from Singapore.
I first came across your YouTube channel when i was searching for simple recipes on Earl Grey related desserts to speed up the use of my tea leaves. I remember it was your Earl Grey chiffon cake recipe video that was recommended to me by YouTube. Subsequently, I started following you guys on Facebook & Instagram to get to know your family as a person rather than just a “Cookbook”. It didn’t take too long before I subscribed to your newsletter. 🙂
I do not think that I’m qualified to provide useful feedback and suggestions on your blog and videos. Would just like to let you know how I admire both of you working together as a team, and how detailed the videos & recipes were (which came in very useful for someone like me who fumbles quite a bit in the kitchen). I hope one day I can cook as fuss free like you Nami, with my hubby like Mr JOC, taking photos/videos of the process for keepsake.
Keep doing what you’re doing, and have a great year ahead!
My feedback is to just continue what you’re doing! I am part of a food committee for an informal group that meets in NYC and I often look to your blog for inspiration. I also like your Midnight diner recipes!
Yay! Congrats! Best Wishes for continued success.
Cheers, Lisa
I found out about your great blog from my librarian here in NYC.
What a wonderful giveaway! I have been following your blog for a while now and love all the japanese recipes you post (I originally found this blog looking for a homemade curry roux recipe). While I love making the recipes you post, sometimes I have difficulty finding the ingredients! Would love to have some substitutions (I know sometimes there aren’t any) or possible source of where to purchase the ingredient.
I love your YouTube channel and your recipes. I love to cook, and you help me do what I love. Thank you.
First of congratulations on the 7 year anniversary 😀 I’m a student from who really likes to cook and of course often I cook Japanese recipes. I actually cook. Japanese stuff for a few years already learning from Japanese friends, cookbooks ( for example Harumi Kuriharas books) and from the Internet (mostly from the amazing cooking with a dog but also some recipes from Here and there). I first found some of your recipes via Google and recommendations while viewing other Japanese cooking videos and since about a year or so I closely follow your blog. To be honest, I can’t think of any suggestions to make this channel better on the top of my head, because I think is already pretty amazing it is. Keep it up!
Nami and Mr JOC:
Congrats! Best Wishes for continued success.
Cheers, Lisa
I love love our videos and am not qualified to offer suggestions other than I love yuzu so do some more with it 🙂 thanks and congratulations!!!
Congratulations on your 7thblog anniversary JOC!
I’m so glad I found your blog and subscribe to it.
Thank you for all the hard work that you do.
I love your recipes! The fresh anpan was definitely my favorite so far. It turned out so beautifully! 😀
Hi there! Love your recipes and I have made a lot of them! The photos and stories are great.
I never win any of your contests but I keep entering! I love your website!
Love your videos and recipes. We’ve visited our son in Japan and love trying to relive our trip through your recipes.
WOW WOW! Each item would be great in any kitchen
I am already a subscriber but would love to enter your giveaway, I love you blog and videos. I have made many of your recipes and have loved them all. Japanese food is a favorite of my families. Thanks for all your great work. I love the tour of your kitchen I got some great storage idea from you. Also love your cookbook❤️
Barbra
barbrafite@hotmail.com.
Thank you for this opportunity. Love your recipes and enthusiasm.
I love the authentic Japanese recipes you share with us. You make preparing these dishes easy with your pictures of the ingredients and instructions. When there are videos as well-that is when my mouth waters! Thank you and thanks Mr JOC!
Congratulations on your 7 year-anniversary!
JOC is the only Japanese food blog I ever use, I love the quality of your photos, clear cooking instructions and the kind soul behind all this! I made lots of dishes from your recipes and everything was delicious!
There is not much I can suggest, you are doing an amazing job already. Maybe what I would like to see more is more regional and lesser known recipes from different parts of Japan. Something that we might have never heard of before.
Keep up with the good work, Nami!
Congratulations on your anniversary. I want to say how appreciative I am that, as I began my journey cooking Japanese foods, you took the time to answer my queries every single time I posed a question on your social media platforms. As a result, I’ve been able to make authentic dishes. I really appreciate the time taken to answer all of our questions. I have had success with each and every recipe I’ve tried from JOC!
Happy 7 years anniversary! Love everything about your website. The recipes, the blog, the travel tips, movies tips and everything else. Wishing another 7 years of happiness, success and good food!,,,
Thank you for your blog. They remind me of my mom’s meals when I was a kid but never appreciated just how good I had back then.
I only started following your blog recently, after I booked a trip to Japan, then realised instead of dreaming of street food in Osaka I should find a great blog to help tide me over 🙂 I would like to see more bento recipes! I am also loving all your instant pot recipes and would love to see more. Especially more quick pressure cooker recipes!
Congrats on 7 years!
To be honest I’m not sure how to improve your site. It’s very easy to navigate and find recipes using a variety of filters. The Instant Pot one is my favourite. I love the jump to recipe option as well since I like to use my tablet to read recipes while I cook. The pictures are gorgeous and keep me on track while cooking. Every recipe I’ve tried so far is very easy to follow. You also provide a wide variety of dishes for every type of meal as well as prep time so it’s a handy guide to meal planning.
I look forward to the next seven years with JOC!
I love all your recipes and it is very fun to see how you prepare and cook the different foods. Although I am Japanese, I don’t know how to cook all the different foods. Thank you for teaching all of us with your wonderful recipes.
I love your blog. I’m originally from Wisconsin, but I currently live in Japan. So your blog has been very helpful; even though I live in Japan, making Asian recipes is still a bit intimidating. Your blog helped me overcome that fear. I als love that you’ve made gluten free recipes!
I look forward to seeing your recipes and videos in my email, on Facebook and Instagram. The ingredients are easy to find and recipes easy to follow. Congratulations on 7 years!
First and foremost, I LOVE your blog and often find a cozy solace here. Thank you for all that you do! Second, my suggestion for an improved experience would be to incorporate more Japanese lifestyle and product posts (a la Japanese Style Originator). While JOC definitely touches on some of this, I’d love to dive deeper into the Japanese way of life, both culinarily and lifestyle. 🙂
Hi there! ???????? I found your blog just a couple of months ago looking for Japanese recipes through Pinterest. You definitely have inspired me to cook more cuisine out of my comfort zone! Arigato!
Love love JOC!!!! Recipes are straightforward and ingredients are easily found. Videos are great and make cooking using JOC so much easier.
I’m subscribed to the newsletter
Really don’ have any feedback for changes, like the site as is.
I subscribed after eating at a very small family run Japanese restaurant in NC tucked away in a strip mall, got home in Va, could find the same experience, so googled the dishes and found this site.
I do have a question, we have been making cheesecakes in a pressure cooked, yes I know, sounds weird, but the results are so much better then the oven. Have you ever looked into trying to pressure cook https://www.justonecookbook.com/souffle-japanese-cheesecake/ ?
Wondering if a cheesecake cook times might be sed, modified?
Congratulations on your 7yr anniversary. Thanks to you I have enjoyed Midnight diner. I like when you cooks the same dishes from the show.
I really enjoy your videos! I am subscribed to your blog. I would love to see “what I eat in a day JOC” to see all the food that you would typically prepare for you and your family 🙂
I am new to your website. I found it when looking for recipes for hamburger steak and hijiki salad. Love your recipes!
Hi, I found you on Facebook and I have been using your Teriyaki and Anpan recipes. Awesome and so simple to follow!
Omedetou! Happy 7th anniversary Ms. NAMI I always check your recipe video. Its very easy to follow and the taste was really good. I love japanese food and cook for my family. Congratulations and keep it up! More power from Philippines
I am subscribed to your newsletter. My fiance loves your youtube channel and she has made me a lot of wonderful dishes from it! We have been to Japan twice and loved the food. Watching her cook and being able to eat Japanese food makes me so happy.
I love your blog and recipes, you are my go to for recipes. They are easy to understand and I have yet to make something I didn’t like! You’ve taught me a lot about cooking in general that I didn’t know before. Thank you
I enjoy your recipes, but sometimes when I print one I get all the pictures with the directions in between. Please, can you set it up to just print the ingredients & instructions?
I already really enjoy your videos. I much prefer the sounds of you cooking (chopping, boiling, sizzling) with quiet background music rather than the emphasis on mostly the music in some of your newer videos. I am subscribed to your newsletter!
I found your blog when I was searching for Japanese recipes to make! I’m from the US
Thank you for sharing your recipes.
I found your blog by looking up Japanese recipes. I have lived in many places (live in the US now) so I don’t consider that I am from a particular city/country. I am 100% Japanese descendant though. いつもありがとうございます。今年もどうぞよろしくお願いいたします。
You do a lot of larger entrees but I would love to see more teishoku meals! I love a little bit of variety with side dishes and seeing all the different colors and textures. I know you have already made side dish videos, but I would really enjoy watching you organize WHY some side dishes go better with certain meals or what you would normally pair together 🙂 I am subscribed!
Visit your website at least once a week!
I am trying to enter your contest but am having difficulty. I hope this way works.
I love your okonomiyaki recipe – tastes just like it does in Japan!
I’ve been following this site for a couple of years now and I think you’re doing great! I’ve learned so much and thanks to you I have a whole bunch of tasty dishes that are now part of the regular rotation. Your teaching style is easy to follow. Have you thought about maybe doing a course on Craftsy? Keep up the great work!
I was lucky enough to find your website on Facebook. I have loved every one of your recipes, but the one I make the most is Dashi. I am a Miso soup addict! Your videos are clear and concise, making every dish I try come out so good! I look forward to learning more recipes in 2018. Thank you!
Love your blog ! Great help with our learning to cook Japanese dishes.
I’ve only recently started reading your blog, which I found when I was googling a Japanese recipe. I’m English but spent some of my childhood years in Japan and developed a lifelong love of the food I was eating.
Thank you for your emails and website. They’re a precious resource for me. The emails never fail to make me smile with pleasure, even when I’m having a bad day.
I live just outside of London with hubby and two dogs.
This blog was my introduction to wonderful food a few years ago and it is still my go-to site for ALL things Japanese culinary wise.
It’s given me the confidence to prepare the kind of delicious food I thought was beyond me.
For which I am eternally grateful.
Would love to see your cute family in some of your vlogs!
I love your recipes and love that you donate a portion of the ebook sales to a charity each month. I hope you will consider have those recipes in print, as in a book. 🙂
Wow! Congratulations on 7 years of growing the JOC brand. I am so happy to find this blog since I check it for recipes and ideas pretty regularly. I think the blog and videos are great already. If you wanted to try out something more, maybe you could do a vlog for your trips (or maybe just a piece of them) abroad. You guys visit very interesting places.
Thanks for all the great recipes and information. Love Japan and all of the food there.
I have been a fan of your cooking ever since I saw your strawberry mochi demo. I have made it many times and have told others about your website. You explain everything in detail and your recipes are so easy to follow. I was fascinated by the kamaboko design and made it for a New Year’s party and again shared your website with others there. I look forward to making the kabocha casserole next. I enjoy reading about your activities and the trips you take with your family. I learn so much about Japan through your cooking. Thank you so much for sharing your tasty recipes.
I love your blog so much. I use at least one recipe per week for dinner for me and my husband!
Congratulations on 7 years! I always love receiving your newsletters.
Hi Nami- I love your blog!!! Congratulations on the 2017 Saveur Blog Award. I frequently come to this site because you always have the best recipes and how to videos. I can’t remember how many years I have been subscribed to your blog and I appreciate your hard work. Happy anniversary????
Love reading your posts and so many recipes that make my mouth water!
I just love seeing your versions of some very difficult, made easy, Asian foods. It nice to see food that I have never seen either!
Love reading your posts and so many recipes that make my mouth water!
The recipes on your website are easy to follow especially there are pictures provided. I’m used to this kind of format ever since I came across Japanese recipes years ago and stumbling on JOC is a godsend!
Happy Anniversary and here’s to many more! Love your site and the clarity of your recipes! Wishing you continuous prosperity!
Thank you the many wonderful recipes over the past seven years! So proud of being able to create dishes because of your blog and newsletters! My greatest accomplishment is preparing osechi ryori for my parents, family and friends. THANKS to you, the impossible is now possible! どもありがとうございます!!!
There are few things in life I get excited about, my kids, food and JOC new recipes and blogs. Thank you Nami and Mr JOC for making my life little more fun and rewarding. Thank you…
Already subscribed to your newsletter! Hopefully I’ll win something! 🙂
Made the pressure cooker ox tail and it was awesome. Have tried a lot more recipes and am never disappointed. Would like to see more instant pot recipes.
Oops sorry forgot to put my suggestions for your blog/video.
I’d love to see some of low carb/gluten free recipes on your blog.
I found your blog by looking on youtube for Japanese cooking in USA. Love the soup recipes, rice, and seasonal vegetable dishes. I do eat meat, just not a lot.
Love the dishes you present and tips.
Hello! Im subscribed to your newsletter. I would love to see more japanese desserts. The videos are great. Keep it up! Thanks!
Happy 7th anniversary JOC! Wish you more years of sumptuous Japanese cooking and amazing blogs!
I completely agree with your 1st item you can’t live without (the Mac Book Pro)! I would never survive without Garage Band and my music recording programs on mine!
I am new to the blog and I am from Ecuador, I found your blog through google while looking for recipes. My suggestion is to include alternatives to hard to find ingredients. Congratulations on your 7th anniversary.
Subscribed! Melissa.a.budworth@gmail.com
This is the first and only food blog I subscribe to – love every thing you post! I would love to see more dessert recipes – I’ve made a few and they always turn out amazing, and I always want more!
I love Just One Cookbook. My daughter lives in the small village of Tenryu-mura in Nagano prefecture and has been teaching English there for over two years. I have visited twice. This past November we visited Takayama and Kanazawa, and I loved seeing your posts on these two cities. Visiting your website reminds me of the wonderful places and foods I enjoyed while visiting Japan. i use your recipes often. Thank you!
The experience of reading your recipes would be greatly improved and enhanced with less advertisements popping up in the middle or around the recipe.
Thanks very much for your detailed and amazing Japanese recipes!
Suggestions….it’s so hard! Everything is wonderful! Always insightful explanations on Japanese ingredients and techniques (I refer to the cutting methods all the time!) I found your site ages ago when some friends visiting from Japan made nikujaga and I just HAD to know how to duplicate it! Please keep sharing such wonderful and simple recipes!
The first food recipie I’ve seen and tried from you was your salmon terriyaki =) Ever since then, I’ve been excited whenever a new blog comes out after that and can I say, so far, you site is just one of the few that I just love to follow. You have made me so motivated to cook for me and my family. Your recipies are so easy to follow; the feature I really love is how you put pictures of the ingredients and steps. In addition, I also love how you add videos to some recipies to give us a great visual. Some people have asked me how in the world I can cook such delicious meals, and I would be like, “Oh! Check out JOC!” Anyways, just love, love your recipies so keep it up! For suggestions, maybe color code some important words and actions in your recipies? But I can tell you’re always making your blog in a fun and creative way every time you post! Can’t wait for the next one!
I found your blog through Google while searching for a ramen recipe. Looking forward to experimenting more with Japanese recipes.
First of all, congrats on the milestone. Seven years is a real feat when it comes to a blog. So many come and go, but the good ones really do stay around! Secondly, what an amazing list of prizes. I’m in awe! I really love the recipes you share and am personally obsessed with Asian cooking (especially Japanese). We’re working on reducing the amount of meat we eat at our house, but finding recipes that are suitable for a main course that have enough protein and other nutrients isn’t always easy. I’d love to see more recipes for healthy, filling meals that are little or no meat. My daughter and I love tofu, but we haven’t been able to get my husband on the bandwagon – yet. I’ve hidden meat free “meat” crumbles in things like spaghetti sauce with him being none the wiser, but I need more ideas. Thanks for all you do!
First of all, congrats!
I discovered your blog by chance why surfing on google. I think I was looking for salmon recipes and tried your miso salmon. Absolutely delicious and its now a regular recipe in our house. Ever since, I ve tried many of your recipes and I blog your blog. I can’t think of anything for you to improve. Your recipe are simple et delicious, et detailed. I ve learnt a lot about Japanese culture and cooking thanks to you.
Just don’t stop blogging 🙂
We visited japan last autumn and loved the people place and the food. Wanting to recreate a little bit of our memorable visit led to finding your site and signing up. I love seeing your recipes and have tried many. Yum yum. Thankyou wendy and howard

I can’t believe it’s been 7 years! My hubby and I have gotten so many recipes! Congrats! We love watching your travel videos
I really like having a bit of history or cultural explanation in the newsletter (the winter solstice email was the last one i can remember). I also don’t eat meat so i usually go through the recipes to find the vegetarian ones and any new posts are greatly appreciated..
Hi there . I am new to your blog and really enjoy all your videos and recipes. I love Japanese food and culture. Please continue to do more Japanese home cooking videos like poke bowls and maybe different types of ramen. Thanks for all your inspirations,????
Sandy
Congrats on the 7 year anniversary and many more to come, it;s great you’re including those of us OS in the contest, it’s a great gesture. We use your recipe’s all the time and look forward to your updates.
I heard about this blog through YouTube! I think it is wonderful!
You’ve broadened my knowledge of Japanese food and techniques, and I enjoy learning more and trying your recipes.
Your recipes have been great, and I especially like the videos. I consider them essential to actually making them, and they are made really well. And we love seeing the travel videos, too! I haven’t been a subscriber for all this time, but I truly do enjoy every update, every recipe. Thank you for the ideas, skills, and inspiration!
I love your blog! I would love to see more instant pot recipes as your page is the reason I got one!
Recently tried your mochi recipe – delicious!
How generous of you. Cannot wait to see what you have in the years to come. Have a great year.
Hello Nami san SOC san! Great job on your blog. I like especially that most of ingredients in your recipes can be found in the U.S. quite easily.
What I would like to ask for is (a bit) more vegetarian recipes. I recently watched a Japanese drama called ‘Sachi no o tera gohan’, and the shojin ryori in that show really amazes me, even though I am not a committed vegetarian. This show proves that it is possible to cook delightful and delicious meals without using meat, which I always doesn’t feel comfortable handling.
I just found your blog recently, when looking for a good recipe for royal milk tea, but I’ve been able to try some of the other recipes too, like the one for the Japanese curry (with the corresponding recipe for the roux)–every single one has been a joy to try. With where I am in New England, it’s been a bit of a challenge to find ingredients sometimes, however I’ve usually been able to find what I need in the end.
Congrats on the 7 year anniversary!
Found you via Facebook! We live in Portland Oregon and love your blog and videos
Congrats! I subscribe to your newsletter ( elisse(at)frontiernet.net ). I very much enjoy your blog and your videos, which give me lots of new ideas of things to try to make, and presentation ideas, too! I also enjoy your travel pieces. I loved the short time I spent in Japan and the amazing food we were able to enjoy there, and SO hope to be able to return! I also love Vietnam and Korea- oh, the food!!!- and we are planning a trip to China- to take the trains and cook and eat!!! 🙂
Hi Nami,
I have enjoyed your recipes very much. I’ve tried some when I was able to get the ingredients and they turned out great. Thank you so much and please keep them coming. ???????????? Yvonne Matthyssen from Australia
Congratulations on 7 years and wish JOC many more! I’m a subscriber of your newsletter already and have been following you for almost 2 years now. Love your YouTube videos and and content of your blog, recipes are easy to follow and make and oh so delicious! All I can say is for you and Mr.JOC to continue providing wonderful Japanese recipes and information on Japanese culture, JOC is my go to!

I am a Korean American who loves Japanese food. I recently found this wonderful blog by searching for recipes online, then subscribed when I saw the quality of the recipes and Website. Please keep up the delicious, authentic, and approachable recipes and blog. Thank you.
Hi Nami San! I moved in Japan two years ago (in Yokohama), I come from France, your blog saved my life.
When I discovered it, I tried new recipe every day (my husband is very happy too).
Japanese ingredients are easy to find here and I take a lot of pleasure to experiment your recipes.
I have posted some pictures of my recipes on Facebook and Instagram and sometimes we exchanged together few words.
Let’s continue to communicate and please continue to post your delicious recipes!
Thank you very much for your giveaway and see you soon on social media.
Alice
Hello Nami, Mir JOC and the kids,
I love all the recipes if I cannot think of anything to cook, I just go to JOC and look it up from soups, appetizers, main dishes through desserts. I am an old fan and supporter yay……
Hello from Canada! I was introduced to your site by my cousin, she had made your wonton soup recipe one day for me and it was so delicousin! I am now a big fan of your site your recipes your stories -all of it! I really enjoy all your step by step as well as your great food pictures 🙂
So happy for you!
Love your blog. I was lucky enough to visit Japan and had a home stay with a really nice family and your site is where I come to recreate some of the food I got to sample. Being it the Caribbean sometimes it’s hard to find genuine products so thats for always providing links for where they can be sourced online. Happy Anniversary!
I am Claire from Australia. My family love Japanese foods. That’s why i love your blog because i would like try to make all the dishes for my family. I accidentally fould your blog in Bloglovin and luckily i found it.
I love your recipes but don’t watch many of the videos. I’d love to see even more recipes using tofu, especially silken tofu (that aren’t dessert!)
As always justonecookbook.com is the default place I go to check out great fresh ideas in Japanese cooking. I even have my daughters going there to check it out. I really love the site and hope that it’s around for a very long time.
I recently discovered your posts and as a Hawaii girl who now lives in Texas, I was so happy to see Oriental food that is presented in a way that could be duplicated at home by someone unfamiliar with a lot of the ingredients and cooking methods! I love that the directions are clear and nuances explained in detail, also, the tips on how to find ingredients her in the U.S. I have learned so much about cooking and the types of food I grew up eating. Sadly, I have not made any of the recipes because the ingredients usually have some form of sugar or gluten or other ingredient that I have been warned to stay away from until I know what my body triggers are for dis-ease. But then, I also find that when I go back to Hawaii for a visit, I find myself sorely disappointed that I am no longer able to eat the majority of the meals I used to consume while growing up. Though I enjoy reading your posts even if I don’t get to prepare the dishes, I was wondering if, with the emphasis on healthy eating nowadays to help with obesity, diabetes, brain heath, thyroid issues, etc., are there some dishes you could feature in an article for those of us who wish to limit our food consumption to foods that help us on our health journey but still excites our palates?
Congratulations on the blog’s 7th Anniversary!
I love it that you have been introducing so many healthy recipes which are relatively easy to make. However, sometimes, I cannot find some of the basic Japanese ingredients around. It would be really helpful if you could list some possible substitutions for those ingredients. More posts regarding Japanese culture would be a plus too.
Thank you so much for your hard work and your dedication to every single post.
I look forward to your next recipe.
Love the blog and recipes. Keep them coming! I particularly like the more traditional recipes. Thank you!
I’m a fairly new reader but I found your blog a while ago when searching for recipes I could easily make living in Tokyo. Now that I have a new place with a bigger kitchen, I’m back to cooking most of my meals and I’ll definitely be using your recipes!
Hi Nami, I love your recipes but I wish you could develop some of your chiffon cake recipes for 10″ tube pans (as I think they are more common in households)!
I can’t believe JOC is 7 years old! Congratulations! I’ve been following you for a long time now. I really like cooking for my family and using wholesome ingredients. Thank you!
I’m a big fan and use your recipes frequently and look forward to your emails. The only thing I can think of as something I’d like different on your website is if it was possible to have less ads. I know that’s a big way websites make money though, but I wish readers could help sponsor a site for you with less of those intrusive things!
I love your recipes! There are a few I make now and then but I almost always have some of your Wafu Dressing in the fridge. I am addicted! Thanks!
Thank you for teaching me so much about Japanese food! We love your recipes ????
Everything great so far! Don’t need anything changed ????
Love your recipes & videos! They are so well done!
Arigato!
LOVE NAMI and your recipes~~~~~
Found your website through FB!!!!
Looking forward to 2018 with you!!!!
Congrats on 7 years!! I love your recipes! The only thing I can suggest is I would like to see some alternative options for ingredients that are more “readily available”… I live in northwest Indiana where asian groceries are scarce!!
I’ve been following your blog for quite some time because I am addicted to Japanese food! I have had good success with some of your recipes but have consistently failed at others (baked katsu for example, I always manage to get it soggy or overcooked…) I can’t honestly give any suggestions as I love your blog and videos as they are! Thanks for sharing!
I love you blog! I’ve made so many of the recipes on the blog and they are always great. Thank you!
Love all the great recipes!
Love the blog!
I love watching your videos on how to cook, so much easier to follow and understand the recipe. Thank you for posting them, I know it’s a lot of hard wok to put them together. Thank you and happy 7th anniversary!

Konnichiwa!
I subscribed to your blog a few months ago while googling for recipes of Japanese meals my mom used to make. She had taught and inspired me to cook while growing up in Tokyo and the US, but her untimely passing almost 15 years ago left me without instructions to my favorite foods.
I’ve made a few of your recipes so far, and I look forward to getting caught up and keeping up!
Arigatogozaimasu!
It was hard to think of any suggestions bc I love JOC as is! But one thing I think would be helpful for pressure cooker recipes is if you could include tips for readers who do not own one. (Unfortunately, I do not have space for one in my small apartment.) Thank you Nami and Mr. JOC !!
Congratulations!
For feedback, I would love to see more instant pot recipes. I would also like to see more recipes suitable for elderly (diabetic recipes, promotes heart health, etc)
Thanks for all the work you do for us!!
Nami and Mr JOC,
Have been following your blog and Instagram for a few years now. Really love it. Love the recipes you post and the travel posts too. When planning my own travels, I love to check out your posts to incorporate destinations or food places you have gone to. I tried several of your regcipes – Teriyaki Salmon, Mushi Pan, Honey Soy Sauce Chicken Wings , Miso Salmon , Gyoza, Matcha Cookies and the list goes on. Have not tried the instant pot recipes advice I don’t have a pressure cooker. Would love to try them. ????
There are so many blogs out there, but I love yours most because I like your personality coming through the posts. You are so down to earth, real and an inspiration to me. Even though I know I am not likely to win anything but I just wanted to congratulate both of you on your 7th anniversary and to let you know you are loved by many of us so please keep going! 加油!
Congrats on 7 yrs JOC! I love all your recipes and Youtube videos! Please develop more gluten free recipes!
Nami, thanks for all the wonderful recipes and I look forward to the next 7 years blog anniversary.
Hi there! I became an avid fan of Just One Cookbook last year, after viewing your recipe for Oyakodon on Pinterest. Thank you so very much for sharing your recipes and videos online!
I would love to see recipes using an air cooker, as well as modified recipes for those with diabetes and allergies. More recipes for desserts (such as wagashi) and smoothies would be greatly appreciated too! Once again, thanks for hosting this giveaway 🙂
Hello, I already subscribe to your news letter. I teach chess to children aged 5 to 11 and also teach cooking to those children. We have cooed several of your recipes. in the cooking class. thanks
I love all of your recipes! I’ve been a big fan for a long time. Whenever I see a food I want to try, I usually check and see if you’ve posted a recipe for it first before I look anywhere else. Also your cutting techniques are massively helpful to me! Thank you!
Hi, I love all the recipes and watching the videos are very helpful. I would love to see this one day turn into an app with recipes and videos!
Ramen!!! More ramen recipes. It would also be nice to have a recipe for making the noodles. I have yet to find a good recipe for homemade noodles for ramen. If you have one or know one please assist. If not, I still love you blog.
Your recipes helped me feed my picky toddler.
The pictures are extremely detailed and helpful for newbie moms/newbie cooks like me. 🙂
Hi! I have followed your blog for a long time already and I always love how easy your recipes are to follow. I have learned a lot of new things thanks to your blog! 🙂
Learned about your blog when searching “how to make rice” and got hooked. Thanks for wonderful recipes, and also sharing basic cooking techniques. Would also love more articles about kitchen tools etc.
I love your blog with the very helpful and clear instructions and videos. One of my favorite dishes is Japanese curry – a true comfort food! You are very generous with your time and expertise which we non-Japanese truly appreciate. Keep up the good work for another 7 years!
Am enjoying everything you share
I’m third-generation Japanese-American and appreciate so much your excellent presentation of many new AND familiar recipes and techniques, as well as helpful travel insight! I’m letting my son know about JOC so that the next generation can benefit too!
Congratulations on seven years. Love your website and hope to win one of your prizes.
Love all the recipes I’ve tried so far! I really enjoy the authenticity of each dish, just like “how it should be,” which is like eating at a restaurant in Japan! I like the traditional dishes and the taste but want to try your interesting new ones as well. Keep up the great work!
Congratulations on 7 years! I look forward to many more years of your enticing recipes and how you make them so easy to duplicate. We will never grow tired of receiving them. Here’s to a 100 more years!!!.
Happy Anniversary! Thank you for your wonderful blog and recipes, please keep them coming! How about a japanese ingredient highlight article once in awhile with a japanese ingredient that is more unknown/people are not sure how to cook with it and then provide a handful of recipes or ways to use it?
Hello JOC, can you have more recipes using the instant pot? My favorite is the kakuni which my family love it so much.
Hi Nami and Mr JOC,
I love your blog, and wanted to add that you newsletter is probably one of the only ones that are actually useful to me. Keep going!
Seven years! Congratulations!!
I always look forward to my email alerts from JOC and the occasional Japanese movie recommendations. Keep up the good work/blog/cooking/explanation of traditional food.
Dear Nami-san,
I love cooking since when I was kid. Learned my cooking from my mother. I cook everyday and teach many dishes to my kids. I enjoy reading your mail as well as on FB and try your recipes so many times. Please keep teaching me new dishes. Thank you.
Kay
Love your recipes. I’ve pinned quite a few on Pinterest and many people have repinned it. I’m Japanese American, 3rd generation, age 63 and grew up loving my mother’s Japanese cooking. Since she never passed down her recipes (she never used recipes LOL!), I have turned to your blog to learn how to cook Japanese food, which I have been sharing with my adult children so they, too, can pass on Japanese cooking to their children. Thank you for helping me regain a part of my heritage. Keep up the good work sharing your delicious recipes with people like me who love Japanese food, but never learned how to cook Japanese cuisine!
Wow! Congratulations! My husband and I love your recipes! Your recipes are amazing! Thank you so much 🙂
Happy 7 year blogiversary! I’ve been following you for a few years now and both my family love every recipe and tip that I’ve tried so far! You are so thorough with your videos and explanations which make everything so easy for people like me.
Thank you for all the time and effort that you put in towards your blog for us! Can’t wait to see everything that you have to teach us in the next 7 years 🙂
I love your blog! I went to Japan on exchange this summer so some of your recipes remind me of what my host mother used to make! Please continue with more dessert recipes; those are my absolute favorite!

I love your blog.
Hi Nami,
Have been subscribed to your website for awhile. Absolutely love your recipes, which are clear and concise, and easy to follow. Also appreciate you sharing your travel stories and tips! Thank you for all the hard work you put into your site!
This page is my go-to site for any Japanese cooking! I appreciate that you list conversions between standard and metric measurements, it makes things much easier for me 🙂
Thanks for sharing your favorite things
Hello there!
Thanks for all that you guys do! We love your recipes here and have referred others to your recipes too! I like that you guys have the jump to recipe link because I reuse the recipes and don’t need to scroll thru all that intro. So thanks!
Your recipes are amazing and they are very helpful with my college days. Simple, healthy and super delicious.
This page is my go-to site for any Japanese cooking! I appreciate that you list conversions between standard and metric measurements, it makes things much easier for me 🙂
Wow! 7 years! And now Mr. JOC is full time with JOC! Now I hope you have more family time on the weekends and evenings. You made me understand how to cook Japanese dishes. Thank you and congratulations!
Thanks for all your hard work. Blessings!
Great videos and recipes. Would be good to include
1.advice on how to select fresh ingredients
2. Pairing food with wine or sake
3. Meal planning
Thank you for all your wonderful recipes, Nami. My suggestion is to add more Instant Pot recipes to the blog, or instructions to convert your recipes to the Instant Pot. For example, I would really love to see Instant Pot instructions for Chawanmushi and all the various Nabe dishes.
I love your blog and videos and I think they are full on, there is really no suggestion needed. I tried several of your recipes too and love them. I would really love to win the One pot wonder????. Would be great present for my 40th Bday next month!
Happy Anniversary! I am an American living in Japan and I love your website and videos because they teach me how to make delicious dishes with Japanese ingredients, especially vegetables! My feedback would be to continue sharing veggie recipes and to include more pictures of the bottles that different sauces come in. One of my biggest challenges in Japan is not being able to read the labels on all of the oils, vinegars, ponzu, etc. Often I can look at the picture on your website and find something similar, but lots of examples would make it easier. Maybe even some of the names written out in Japanese? Thanks again and keep up the good work! -Jen in Kobe
I’ve been using your website for over five years now and I still find it amazing! Everything is well explained and the pictures you post next to the cooking instructions really help!! Thanks for helping me enjoy japanese cuisine from home (Barcelona, Spain)!! ????
I can’t wait to try all your recipes! Omedetou on your 7 th year.
Love your cooking videos! They are easy and clear 🙂
Hope there will be more dessert videos in the future 🙂
Love! Love! Love! I love this! No complain but love everything you try to help people like me who doesn’t know what the ingredient is, how to use the ingredient and of course cooking and baking any of the food. Still trying and at least it is showing me in the right direction of how to make it. Love it! Thank you
Hi! I am already a
Subscriber and appreciate all the yummy recipes. I love your instant pot recipes. I would love to see any IP dessert recipes (besides cheesecake) if you have any in mind. Also any seafood recipes! Thank you!
Your recipes are easy to follow and your blog is fun to read. Keep up the great work!
Congratulations on your 7th Anniversary! Keep up the great work. Your blog just keeps getting better and better. Even if I don’t try the recipes, I find the content useful and engaging.
I love your blog and recipes! Oishi!
Love your blob Nami
I enjoy your blog. I believe I’ve gotten several of my friends to follow you on FB.
P.S. I’d love that knife!
Hi Nami,
My boyfriend (who loves to cook) and I really enjoy your blog. His mother is Japanese and when we first met, one of the first meals he made for me was chicken Katsu curry with fried ebi. He told me he wanted to pull out all the stops in order to impress me so I would want him to stick around 🙂 I had never had much Japanese food before meeting him, so I tried to educate myself and came across your blog. Two years later and I often use your blog to request new recipes to try out with him. Thank you to you and Mr. JOC for putting so much effort into it! I made your onsen tamago the other night for udon dinner for the third or fourth time. It made me think how much I enjoyed the video. Please continue making videos as well! They are such a nice complement to the written recipes.
Forgot to include my website. I try to tag you in my Instagram posts when we make your recipes 🙂
Hi!
I’m still kind of new to your blog. I’m from America, but I live in Saitama, Japan now. I got married not too long ago and am pregnant! So, I’m looking to expand my cooking utensils/equipment and knowledge!! I’m always on the lookout for food blogs. I found your website in a google search for osechi recipes in English. I’m very happy I found it! I’m looking forward to making your bento recipes when I’m working less and have a little more free time after baby comes. I look at your Facebook posts everyday! Lots of good food research for me!! Thank you!!
Love matcha crepe Mille cake
I’m new to the site but a friend recommended the site to me because I love to cook! I’m from Maryland
Happy Anniversary to you! Wow 7years, it sure doesn’t seem that long.
Wishing for all the JOC family health and prosperity as well as another 7 years of fabulous food.
I’ve been reading your blog for a couple years and made many recipes. Please continue to publish Instant pot recipes!
I love your website, you make all the recipes look so easy to prepare. Since discovering your blog I have made dragon roll sushi, yakisoba, baked croquettes many more of your recipes. My family loves each and every one. Thank you for sharing with us.
Thank you for doing the give away. I love your blog!!
HI Nami.
Congratulations on your 7th year anniversary with JOC. I’ve been enjoying your blog and recipes . Wish I could get the magic pot as it still is not sold in Tokyo…
Wishing you and Mr. JOC the best and many more years of blogging!
You and Mr. JOC are so humble and inspiring. Your blog is ALWAYS interesting and refreshing. I appreciate your creativity, originality and all the encouragement and helpful tips you impart.
Happy Seven Years, JOC and many more to come!
your videos are so well made and i really enjoy watching them. I get inspired to cook/bake something new from your recipes
Hi Nami, I already am a subscriber to your newsletter and hope this comment enters me in your give-away. I LOVE your recipes and blog, and you have inspired me to take Japanese cooking lessons. Life if good!
Hi,Nami!Big Congrates!!!I am a Chinese girl living in Poland. I have a few Japanese friends and i love Japanese food a lot! It is a pleasure to watch my Japanese friends cooking and presenting their meal. Also It was my luck to find your blog two years ago and follow you ever since. I ‘ve tried some of your receipes and some turned out good and some of them were failed. i think the reasons for my failure were that I couldn’t find the right ingredients or Japanese spices and condiments where I live. Anyway, I love your blog and you will keep doing it and bring more nice Japanese food for us.
only one small suggestion, could you make another category of “kids food” or “kids bento box for school”? I really like how moms in Japan make a nice and healthy lunch box for their children. I want to try to do the same for my kids.:)
Thank you very much!:)
Yingnan ????
Love all your recipes it reminds me of my mom’s cooking growing up.Now it’s my turn to cook let my family and mom enjoy ????
I love all your cooking videos and now that I am in Japan, I will be able to get a lot of the ingredients but I still can’t afford appliances. I hope to win. Keep up the great work Nalu and Mr. JOC!!!
I have been enjoying your recipes from Canada.your website is the first one to go if so am looking for Jspanese recipes.
I just joined last year after seeing a JOC post a friend shared on facebook. I love watching your posts on facebook. It would be helpful if you could provide alternatives or substitutes to ingredients where possible. Love your recipes.
Thanks!
I don’t love all your recipes, but the majority I do. Many of my Caucasian friends like the “delicate” flavors and presentation. I would like to see following the recipes and videos where we can purchase the utensils and cookware. I went on Amazon and found some of them when I couldn’t find them at our local Japanese stores.
First of all, Nami congratulations for your 7 Years Blog Anniversary. Actually I don’t have any suggestion or feedback because for all your recipes you make it so easy and simple to understand. Every time when I out of an idea for what to cook for my family, I will check your blog to find recipes 😀
Looking forward your new creations and many more 7 years anniversary.
I love how easy your recipe and instruction to follow. I also love the pictures you took to show each step. The only suggestion is to may be remove the ads. It’s getting in the way too much and I always accidentally hit it while browsing. Other than that I think your website is perfect. Keep up the good work!
Love your blog! The videos, recipes and travel posts are all wonderful! Maybe have something easier to cook since I am not much of a cook;) Thank you!
I’m relatively new to the JOC blog, but my mother in law recommended it to me as well as a family friend.
I’m relatively new to the JOC site but this blog was recommended to me by my mother in law and a family friend since I live in Belmont, CA, which supposedly that is where you live too.
Wow, thank you very much. I have really enjoyed learning from your cooking blog.
We made our first recipe this week. It was the pressure cooler kakuni.
The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. And of course, the dish came out perfectly.
The only problem was that 2 pounds of belly wasn’t enough. The two kids probably ate a whole pound by themselves.
Your recipes are delicious and your videos are beautiful and helpful to my way of thinking, so I have no suggestions there. I do sometimes wish for a meal plan to go with the recipes so I can better understand how to construct Japanese meals. I especially love hearing the stories behind traditional foods.
Thank you JOC for your delicious recipes and providing us with great ideas for Japanese inspired meals. I really loved when you prepared the Midnight Diner inspired dishes, and I think it would be cool if you did more meals from Japanese movies and tv shows in the future.
I don’t really have anything to add, I love all of your recipes, videos and blog posts!!
Love the show. Would love to see another book released. Maybe a compilation of some of your favorite recipes. A “best of” JOC Seven years. JOC inspired merchandise would be great too. This would give your fans more ways to support you.
Hi Naomi,
Your blog is amazing! I love Japanese food and your recipe is so easy to follow.
My suggestion is that I would like to see healthier version (less sugar) of Japanese food. For example, I have been looking for recipes that can substitute rice/noodles with konnyaku “rice/noodles”. Or can we use almond flour to make matcha swiss roll…
Anyways keep up with the good work! Thank you for sharing these awesome recipes with us!
Wonderful blog, and great instructions! I’m so happy to subscribe. Varieties of tsukemono and vegan main dishes or options would be great!
It would be great if you could suggest side dishes or a ‘would be great served with’ with the dishes.
Thank you for your blog and videos 🙂
Hi Nami, I woud like to feedback to you that I hope to see more cakes recipe from your blog or website.thank you
I like all your instructional video and hope u make more. Thanks!
Happy anniversary! I think I’ve been following you for most of those 7 years. I enjoy your recipes, the tips, your You Tube videos and blogs about your travels. I follow you on Instagram and FB, too! Keep up the good work!
newcomer here, from malaysia! found this blog while googling matcha baking recipes, stayed because i fell in love with all the other recipes!
I actually found you through Google while referencing a Japanese recipe. Also if you need a better selection of Japanese knives you can check out Honcho-Knife.com if you haven’t already.
Your blog always makes me hungry to try more things. Although I love to review restaurants as a hobby, when I cook at home, your website if my inspiration for almost every Japanese dish I cook. The videos are slick, the instructions straight forward and the additional commentary adding some light to my day.
Please keep it up!
I love your blog and youtube channel just the way it is!! Over the years I have learned how to make many of my favorite Japanese foods like ozoni and teriyaki salmon.
Thank you!!
Hi JOC,
Thank you very much for making this website. I am enjoyed eating Japanese food since I was around 13, when I started making bento boxes to take to school. However, one sad thing about most Japanese food outside of Japan is that it is Japanese restaurant food, and not Japanese home cooking. And for me, home cooking is so much better!
Ten years later, I still love cooking (I was actually checking my emails between kneading bread when I saw about the giveaway). I think your website is very very good. It’s so so hard to make a business through a blog, and I think it is a credit to you and your husband’s skill and determination that you have made it work. So thank you, and well done.
Now, as for feedback, I think the organisation of the website is great. It’s easy to read about ingredients and to find recipes. One thing that I think would be interesting though is to have recipes sorted by the area of Japan they’re from (if that is relevant). I know lots of recipes are general to the whole of Japan, but others have very specific regions which they are associated with. It would be lovely to get to know about which prefectures specialise in what through your writing.
Your videos are also very clear, but I must admit I tend to read the recipes more than watch the videos! However I do sometimes watch the videos just for fun, but not when I need to cook 🙂
I wish you and yours the very best, and I hope you continue to find success.
Hi Nami,
Congratulations on your 7th anniversary! I’ve tried some of your recipes and they are always yummy! My favourite so far that I’ve made again and again is baked tonkatsu, easy and quick. I usually make a batch and just keep in the fridge for a few days, put in the oven however many I need on a particular day. My suggestion would be to make more videos for longer/more complicated recipes, e.g. Japanese strawberry shortcake. Your instructions are already very clear with pictures, can’t ask for more. But for someone like me, they seem a bit daunting as they’re very long. I think a video will make the recipe easier to follow 🙂
I’m looking forward to more recipes, thank you for sharing with us!
So glad I found your newsletter. Have been going to dinner with my son who loves Asian food as I do.
I told him I’d learn to make the food and he said he’d visit more.
I’ve made your ramen and won ton soup. The whole family loves the new food. Thanks
I already told you on Instagram (@_erinfae) how much i value and appreciate your recipes. I made so many while i was in tottori and cant wait to see more veg stuff on your blog 🙂 What i would *really* love to see in the coming year is…..
one of the things i love about japanese cooking (washoku, especially) is having so many different tastes and dishes. The thing i’m bad at is timing. I’d love a series of posts on getting the timing right with Japanese recipes to be able to pull off a 5 dish dinner without it taking 5 hours
If i win, I’d use the money to help me save for my next trip to japan ,3
Hi Nami!
Please enter me into the giveaway comp 🙂
I’ve subscribed to your newsletter for a while now, however, I don’t have any feedback for your blog or video. They are good as it is (for me). I like practical and simple, so sites with lots of flash, tons of carousels, pop-ups won’t get me stay too long. Yours is clean and simple. And I tend to get bored quickly when watching how to do videos, so your videos are perfect too. Not dragging and contains JUST what’s required. So, please keep on doing what you do 🙂
As I can’t give you suggestions, I’d just tell you how I found your site. I found it when I was looking for butter cookies recipe for Xmas! Google found me your Hato Sabure recipe! And until now, it’s still my favourite butter cookies recipe 🙂
.
Hey Nami, congratulations on your 7 year anniversary and thanks for the great giveaway! I love the step-by-step and how-to videos as I’m not a great cook and an explanation is sometimes not enough for me. Maybe you can review some of your great recipes from the past that don’t have videos and shoot them „retroactively. I know you already do that once in while, thank you for that!
Keep it going and all the best for many more years to come!
Cheers, Ekaterini
I started to learn japanese cooking. please continue in this way!!
I love your blog
Konnichiwa NAMIKO AND MR. JOC……..!
I COMPLETELY LOVE YOUR OFFERINGS……
EVERYTHING THAT EACH OF YOU DO IS WELL DONE…..
ENJOYABLE TO READ AND TO VIEW AND TO USE…….
IF I WERE TO SUGGEST ANY CHANGE……
THERE IS ONLY ONE I CAN THINK OF……
THAT IS THAT I PREFER NOT HAVING THE VIDEO FOLLOW ME …..
IT IS DISTRACTING OUT OF THE CORNER OF MY EYE…..
WHILE I AM TRYING TO READ YOUR BLOG OR NEWSLETTER….
I SEE THAT YOU ADDED A “CLOSE X” UP IN THE RIGHT CORNER……
BUT IT IS NOT ALWAYS THERE RIGHT AWAY…..
I USE WINDOWS OS AND FIREFOX BROWSER…..
IN THAT SYSTEM THERE IS A MEANS TO ADD A FEATURE…..
THAT ALLOWS ONE TO CLICK ON “FOLLOW ME”…..
THEN THE INSET [OR WHATEVER IT’S CALLED] DOES THAT…..
OTHERWISE IT STAYS PUT……
OFTEN SEEN ON SITES……
LIKE ON-LINE TAKE-OUT FOOD ORDERING AND/OR DELIVERY……
IT GIVES ONE THE CHOICE….
OF LEAVING IT WHERE IT IS [NO ACTION]…..
OR ASKING IT TO FOLLOW [ACTION REQUIRED]…..
IF YOU USED THAT TYPE OF CHOICE…..
YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO NOTE HOW OFTEN IT IS ASKED TO FOLLOW…..
PERHAPS YOU CAN ALREADY SEE HOW OFTEN USERS STOP IT…….
THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR MUCH APPRECIATED HARD WORK……
I WISH YOU BOTH AND THE KIDS AND ALL YOUR LOVED ONES……
GREATEST GOOD..:D
Stella Anne D.
Congratulated with your anniversary:D I love your recipes and wish I have more time to try everything:) The only problem I have is the amount of sugar that is used in a lot of savory recipes and would like to know if it can be replaced by for example honey or coconut blossom sugar.
I found the Just One Cookbook to be a great resource for authentic Japanese recipes and dishes. I found out about this blog recently through a Japanese cooking group that I have been attending. I am located in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Love, love everything that JOC has to offer. I’ve learned to cook many dishes frim watchin Nami on her youtube channel!!! Keep up the good work JOC!!
Subscribed to joc!
Hi! I love your blog and recipes. I would love to see a recipe for kyuri no kyuchan. It’s my favorite and I would love to make this at home without the food coloring and other chemicals (sweetener I forgot the name of). Keep up the great work! Congrats on 7 years. Wow!
A reader from Hong Kong, who finds your JOC amazingly addictive.
I love the videos, sometimes if I am not sure I’m on the right track it shows exactly what I need to do. The video on how to make Takoyaki was invaluable as turning those little balls was very difficult! More substitutions on what you can use if you can’t find Japanese ingredients would be great.
Thank you for your recipes and your joy ! Went to Japan one year ago, didn’t stop cooking japanese dishes since then. We find your website from Google. We are looking forward to more delicious recipes ! Thank you !
Thank you!
I always look forward to your newsletter in my inbox. I really enjoy recipes that remind me of the foods I had when I was growing up in Hiroshima, as well as foods I have tried traveling through different regions of Japan. I think it would be helpful to viewers if you mention the area in Japan that the recipe comes from. For example, okonomiyaki can be enjoyed Osaka style or Hiroshima style. Same can be said for the unique styles of broths and toppings found in different parts of Japan.
Thank you so much for your time & effort in making JOC a great source for Japanese cooking.
Nami and Mr. JOC,
Thank you for sharing your hearts and your delicious recipes with all of us. I can truly say I have learned so much more about Japanese history, cooking, and methods through your blog. My one suggestion would be to continue posting more vegetarian recipes! Loving them all.☺
Congratulations on 7 wonderful years!
Nami & Mr. JOC, Congratulations on 7 years! Thank you for sharing your easy to follow recipes and your wonderful travels. I look forward to JOC newsletters and YouTube ‘how to’s.’ Wishing you continued success.
Hi. this is kai chen from singapore. new to your websites and recipes. congrats on your 7th ani. found your site while peeking at my friends hp while she is surfing fb? i asked what delicious food you looking at. and she told me more of your site. will get to try out some recipes soon and will feedback more!
I subscribe to your newsletter. I’m interested in Japanese snacks and desserts and how to make barazushi for a large group, especially shortcuts for chopping up the ingredients. Congratulations on 7 years!
Many congrats and thanks for giving us a chance at these cool gifts!
IMHO, the site is already very user-friendly.
I love coming to your site for easy weeknight recipes! It’s always been very easy and simple to create delicious dishes that doesn’t require too much pre-planning! Thank you!
As for feedback, I’d love to be able to see more recipes around the topic of pickling and preserved eats.
Hello! I’ve been your fan for some time and your ice cream and sesame seed cookies are just awesome? I love making them again and again. About other recipes, I live in Lithuania and there are not many specific ingredients to buy, so I would love it if there would be some suggestions for replacing rare products with more western like
Thank you for all your recipes and advice Namiko san, I can honestly say you taught me how to cook Japanese food at a time when I was very confused about home cooking in a culturally and gastronomically different country. I am still here almost 2 years later, getting married in a few days and probably by now made 80% of your recipes (the proposal might had something to do with the great dinners every night haha).
I love the step by step pictures and detailed videos you post. All this is a huge help for beginners! Also, please keep introducing different kitchen tools, like otoshibuta, splatter screen…. so wonderfully helpful in making Japanese or any other food.
I have a request… Please, when you find the time post a Japanese French Toast recipe. I was so surprised by the French Toast here, so fluffy and moist. Completely different than in Europe! All the best!
I love your blog and I use your recipes on a daily basis! My feedback is this: sometimes it is hard to find ingredients or tools required for certain recipes—it would be great if you could give us more tips on where we can find them in the US!
Love your recipes and how you explain them! Learning a lot about Japanese cuisine, and regions!
First of all thank you for your wonderful videos and blog! I enjoy watching and reading a lot!
One suggestion to your videos would be to do more voiceover in the videos. It’s nice to be able to listen and see more, than reading when watching YouTube videos. Also I would suggest that you include more of Nami more in the videos, because she’s really pretty!
Kind regards and lots of love from Sweden!
I love your blog JOC! For me it’s an amazing source of knowledge and inspiration in everything that has to do with the japanese culinary culture! I would love to see even more traditional recipes as well as more articles about the japanese culture beyond food and travel and maybe some more japanese phrases introduced to us the readers… But anything is just so great here!
Thank you for your blog! I LOVE the recipes and look forward to receiving your emails. Recipes are easy to follow and make and delicious!
Your blog is wonderful! All recipes are easy to follow and i would like to ask more recipes to do with the Instant Pot. Thank you!
Max, Italy
I love your blog! Found your video on youtube when i was looking for a cheesecake receipe. Hope you will have more matcha recipes, and some sides for bento
Hi Nami,
Thank you so much for having this blog! I’ve been a subscriber for over a year now and I love getting emails with new recipes 🙂
My feedback for the blog would be to try and create more intolerance friendly recipes – such as for people with gluten intolerance or a thyroid problem (no soy – it’s a tough one!). I would also love to see a list of substitutions at the end of each recipe (e.g If you don’t have fish sauce, you can sub for Y, or you can sub edamame beans for Z) for people who are new to Japanese cooking and don’t have all the right ingredients/do this for the ingredients that cause intolerance problems (hence the edamame).
I hope this all makes sense! Oh and more bento recipes/inspiration would be welcome!
I was searching for tamagoyaki recipes and found your blog. It is really helpful and extended my recipes for Japanese food!! Thank you very much!!
You are my favorite blogger and I hope to see more Japanese instant pot recipes!
Have been using your recipes for the past couple years and they have impressed my first generation Japanese relatives when they come over for the holidays 🙂 you have also made me an Instant Pot lover and advocate as well. Keep the delicious recipes coming! Thank you, Nami!
Wow, what a great giveaway! I can’t really offer any suggestions for the blog other than maybe adding vegetarian substitutions for your recipes or more vegetarian recipes for main dishes in general, especially soups, nabes, this kind of thing. Things with kombu dashi, etc. But I love this blog! Thank you so much 🙂
Subscribed! More jazz background music please
Hi Nami!
Thanks for the opportunity to play in the giveaway!
I really appreciate your responding to my post so quickly…so thanks for that. I’m always in for a new IP recipe 🙂 !
Aloha from Hawaii…
Cal
I’m glad to be a subscriber to your newsletter. I find your content and videos so helpful to my cooking interests and skill level. I’m looking forward to more great recipes to try in the future. Do you have a recipe for shrimp sauce or “pink sauce”?
I love JOC! I’ve made several recipes from your blog and videos. My family/friends loved every recipe I’ve tried. I look forward to more in the future!
Thank you and keep up the amazing work!
Love your blog and your videos !
Such a pleasure reading your blog! I always loved Japanese cuisine beyond the sushi/sashimi craze, but only now, from your blog, do I begin to understand some of its principles.
Thank you,
Hi Nami & Mr JOC,
Love love love your blog & youtube videos!
Please do more recipes using Instant Pot for family of four.
Thanks
Love reading your website, especially the Japanese recipes. Please share more electric pressure cooker recipes.
I LOVE YOUR BLOG AND YOUTUBE!
Hi,
I really appreciate your effort. Thak you for letting us learn the Japanese cuisine in a clear & easy way ^_^
Thanks Nami,
Love the blog and the recipes. I look forward to each new email.
Dave
Happy 7th! I’m such a big fan of your blog, and get a lot of lunch and dinner ideas for my family from it. Can’t really suggest anything, because I think it’s perfect as it is. ^_^
Your YouTube videos are so detailed and easy to follow. I learned new things about cutting and cooking with kabocha, after years of enjoying it simply steamed.
I like that you share information about other food bloggers. To me it demonstrates your openness to other ideas.
Your beautiful smile tells me how much you love what you are doing.
Congratulations on your anniversary. I look forward to seeing your work in the years to come.
Hi! I am from Hawaii and I’m new to ur blog. While browsing on my computer, I came across ur blog and it really intrigued me with all of your beautiful illustrations and detailed recipes! I kept watching video after video and everything looked so delicious I wish I could try them. My family really loves japanese foods but I’m not good at cooking at cooking. Japan is definitely our most favorite place to visit. From the people to the yummy foods, it the best!!! I also am learning a lot about keeping a pantry well stocked and about different techniques and ingredients. Keep up the wonderful work and I am enjoying your blog!
I found JOC quite some time ago as my boyfriend and I love Japanese cuisine. Unfortunately I started to villainise carbs about a year or so ago and would avoid them like the plague. This meant I refused to consume rice, noodles, even high-carb vegetables. It got to a point that I was eating about 35g of carbs (from the recommended 200g) a day – even a low-carb diet keeps you at about 135g a day! I was flagging for energy and was so miserable.
I put my foot down in the end and realised something had to change. And that’s when I turned to JOC.
A week of virtually nothing but recipes from this website – hearty, nutritious and different from anything I’d put on my plate (or my boyfriend’s) for a long time – I took it one bite at a time. It’s been a struggle, but I’ve managed to get myself back onto carbs, I’ve been happier, more energetic, and I’ve even lost weight.
I even blogged about the matter: http://www.ablackbirdsepiphany.co.uk/2017/09/holiday-eating-japan-from-home.html
I’ve been using JOC off and on ever since, and just last week made the new Oyaki recipe with a sweet potato filling. It was amazing, as it always is, and I’m never, ever intimidated by the recipes because the abundance of accompanying pictures make things quite clear, and I’ve become quite brave in the kitchen now!
Hi Nami!
Congratulations on your blog’s 7th Anniversary!!
Wow.. well done in keeping up the good work, and consistently delivering good quality writings, videos, and, of course, recipes!
I love, love, love your clean, clear, easy to follow, high quality videos.. sometimes my 7 year old son (yes he’s 7 too!) watches your videos again and again, and they make him want to cook 🙂
I have an idea for your video.. for the part where you talk.. maybe instead of standing on the same spot and same position, maybe you can change the video angle or location differently, such as maybe sitting down and have close up beauty shot of your cooking and you, and maybe candid moments? 😀 or even take it to outdoor? Just an idea 😉
Anyway, i wish you go further and higher on your blog. You’re surely an inspiration for many people. All the best!
Congratulations on your blog’s anniversary! Your website is amazing and it is the first one I go to when I’m in the mood for Japanese food!
The only thing I would suggest you could add to this blog is a function to change all measurements to grams and liters. I’m often struggling with converting units, and it would be very neat if I wouldn’t need to go to a different website to do so.
Hi Ms. Nami..i love your recipe’s and blog..Thanks for sharing.
Happy 7th Anniversary!
Would like to see Teriyaki Sauce Recipes from different Parts/Regions of Japan & collaboration videos with other YouTubers.
Thanks for your awesome work!
I love how simple the videos are to follow. Really makes cooking meals when you’re in a rush that much more streamlined!
I am a happy receiver of your newsletter for years! Love your blog and recipes much! Have tried a few of them as long as I was able to get the ingredients here in Germany… ????
I would be happy to see more delicious cake and sweets recipes. As I am preparing japanese dishes a few times a week and own lots of japanese cookbooks in different languages I am now always interested in special recipes, hopefully homestyle dishes to get deeper inside the wonderful japanese kitchen….
Thanks for so many lovely and delicious recipes and videos so far! Loooooove it! ❤️????????
Hi Nami!
Thanks so much for the great recipes! In my opinion the texts are very well written and your videos great! Actually I have only one question : – when I open your website on mobile browser, a video of a random recipe is starting, but I cannot pause it. Is it a general thing for mobile browsers or is my xiaomi phone the culprit?
Thanks! And I hope to be lucky and have a positive outcome of this give away 😀
Greetings from Germany!
Heya Nami, today planning on making the tofu pizza for lunch, so looking forward to it, i love your recipes, ya made my wish to cook japanese food make true ????. Happy anniversary for the Blog, keep up the great work! <3
Hello Nami and Mr JOC,
My partner and I both love your website! It’s our go-to site for any Japanese recipes, we find the recipes more “homey” and genuine than other japanese recipes online.
Our feedback is: we hope you both keep blogging! We really enjoy the blend of life/family stories and recipes.
Aloha Nami! I enjoy watching and trying out your recipes. Living in Hawaii, the the melting pot of different cultures along with different cuisines it’s inevitable that everything revolves around food. Family gatherings are always based around food and no one will go home hungry. Since coming across your blog and videos I have a better understanding of how things should be prepared. I am a Sanse,i female born and raised here in the islands. Growing up my grandmother did a lot of the cooking while my mother was working hard helping my father with their business. Both my mother and grandmother have passed away and some of the foods you’ve done are very nostalgic to me and brings back fond memories of my mother and bachan. I look forward to what you have in store for all your subscribers in 2018. Good Luck and wishing you a year filled with lots of love, adventure and continued success! Mahalo
I love stainless steel bottles: they are a little step towards a greener world ????
Thank you for always inspiring me on what to cook in cases i cant decide! Everytime I see your blog it’s like “oh, i haven’t tried this” or “i haven’t done this in a while, i miss it, let’s cook it again”! Thank you for introducing the cuisine to our family!
I have been a subscriber for years! I love your recipes, and the photos are lovely.
Love your site, it gives me valuable recipes on Japanese cooking. I would really like if you could have an alternative metric scale in your recipes, that we can choose between different scales. I am writing a cooking-column for my Norwegian paper when I am working 100 pct.
I love your blog. I found you a year ago. My family adores Japanese food. I love that you added instant pot recipes as well.
This may be silly but I really want to know how Japanese women diet, especially without giving up rice? It’s always my downfall–cutting it down severely leads to eventual rice binges. Definitely a comfort food.
Hello! Your recipes and videos really helped me a lot when I became a stay-at-home wife and started to cook. As a noob cook, I use your website and recipes almost everyday and they are really my life savers! Your recipes and videos are easy to follow and my husband loves the food!
It would be great if you could include more instant pot videos. The instant pot is amazing and can make so many things and save us loads of time.
It would also be easier for noob cooks like me if videos are published for those recipes that do not come with a video.
Thank you and I look forward to more posts! 🙂
Love your website! I’m an international reader so my only suggestion would be to include measurements in recipes which are not just in cups- as unfortunately various different cup measurements exist – i have 3 tools which all measure 1 cup although all are different sizes!!! Not helpful for getting a perfect recipe! 🙂
Really like the breadth of recipes you have as well as the descriptions of when various foods are eaten and why. I have used a few of them too and loved experimenting! Thanks for keeping on writing, here’s to the next 7 years!
Hi Nami, I have enjoyed making your recipes and watching your videos. Thank you for sharing them and for the opportunity to win some amazing products.
Hi!
I’m a relatively new subrscriber, so I don’t have feedback yet. A relative asked me to translate some recipes on this blog for him, and I fell in love with the blog myself. Happy Anniversary from Germany!
I. Love. Your. Blog! So informative and authentic! If I could live anywhere else in the world it would be Japan. Thanks for taking me there every week!
I find your website easy to access the recipes and stories. It has a clean layout and good pictures to help with making recipes. I have no good suggestions for improvement, but I just wanted to say thank you for the quality of your website and recipes. I do have one idea for recipes: what to do in a rice cooker besides cook rice. I have an old one completely in Japanese, so I don’t understand how to use it for anything besides rice..
I have enjoyed your site and many many recipes One of my favorite was a Meyer lemon chiffon cake it has become a staple dessert in our house. And love the explanations about ingredients and history of recipes.
I love your delicious recipes.
I enjoy cooking your recipes.
Hi Nami! I have been following your blog for a long time and it has helped me with Japabese cooking a lot! I enjoy making your dessert recipes since they look absolutely beautiful! In fact, it was your Green tea and white chocolate cookies recipe that brought my boyfriend and I together 4 years ago! I would love to see more dessert recipes from you, and any unique Japanese food recipes! Thank you!
I’ve subscribed 🙂 Thank you so much for writing this blog, it has been giving me countless ideas and inspirations on what to cook!
goodmourning856@yahoo.com is the email I subscribe to your newsletter with.
This giveaway is amazing, and so is your blog! I’ve been a reader for a long time, and I hope it continues on for many years.
I am so happy! I got a instant pot for my birthday. Need to read instructions in the box and I am ready, I never leave home without my Zoriushi. It is the best in keeping things hot or cold the longest.
Congratulations! What an achievement!! I really enjoy your recipes! My only suggestion would be for more instant pot recipes. We really enjoy the instant pot buta kakuni!
Hello, recently discovered your blog because of my bento box…I just love your recipes! Thank you.
Hi Nami! Congratulations on 7 years! Thank you to you and your husband for giving so much in your blog and videos. I am very “old school” and continue to enjoy your blog via email. I haven’t had the chance to watch your videos because I enjoy reading your recipes and articles as text (^o^)
I love your blog and I think it’s pretty good already so I don’t have much in terms of feedback, sorry, but I know I would love to see more variations of classic recipes like gyoza, steamed buns, etc. and some wagashi recipes but I understand the latter can be difficult and time-consuming so it’s fine if you guys can’t do it. One more thing, I know the whole point of the blog is to bring us authentic Japanese recipes and that’s why I love it, but as a result some recipes are pretty much impossible to make as is. Of course I want the original recipe, and you already mention what can be omitted or replaced in several posts, but I guess more opportunities to switch things around would be nice. I live in a pretty remote place right now and getting some ingredients is either impossible or too expensive, which can be pretty discouraging. But you don’t have to take that into account I mean I was wracking my brain for a suggestion and that’s the only thing I could come up with!
I really love it when you put photos and videos because it really helps me a lot. I often get confused when there is only text even if the recipe is really simple so I really appreciate the efort you put in all this 🙂
Congrats on the seven years!!!! I feel that any feedback I’ll give will be positive, as I’ve used many of your recipes and they’ve always worked. I love the way you write and your instructions are perfectly clear cut. I’m always interested in the stories behind your recipes. I don’t watch the videos very often, so unfortunately no feed back there, sorry! Congrats again on the seven years and here’s to many more!!!
Blog feedback and suggestions –
I love the blog! I especially love the option to skip straight to the recipe or print the recipe straight away from the top of the page.
For suggestions, I would suggest maybe a little note or indicator to show which recipes are main meals, which are desserts, which are side dishes etc.
Video feedback and suggestions –
The videos look great! Seeing how the ingredients should all be prepared is very helpful for recreating the recipes.
I would suggest maybe incorporating little indicators of cooking times into videos – e.g a little text bubble that states “Cook onions until soft, usually 3 minutes or so” – just to help viewers better understand the cooking process.
Hello Nami and Mr. JOC!
First of all, congratulations to 7 years of awesome blogging and recipe posting! Your site is my favorite when it comes to food (and I usually don’t follow up on food blogs – but yours is the one and only exception 😉 ) and I admire all the work and love you put into it (just as if it really was a child!).
As feedback to your posts and videos: first of all, I love the way your videos are made. It’s especially great when you didn’t understand something in the step-by-step description (which doesn’t happen too often though), so you can “visually understand” what you have to do. Plus, they’re really aesthetic and just lovely to watch. (And I love the “Itadakimasu!” at the end!)
The posts themselves are always very clear and I really like the notes on possible substitutes for japanese food one might not find in his/her own area (which is great for me as the next japanese food store is quite far away). I love the personal touch of each and every post, and I find it really sweet to read the highlights (and sometimes downsides) of your week in the lovely newsletter. It makes it really personal, you really have the impression to be part of a big family. And that’s what I like most about justonecookbook: it’s personal and goes through your tummy directly to the heart.
As suggestions for future posts: well, as I said, your posts are great, so keep up the amazing work! It would be great to see “quick food” to make at home, or maybe “historical” food that isn’t as popular today as it once was but still tastes very good. Or maybe “regional food”, with different specialties or cooking styles (like “culinary travel” through Japan with a couple of recipes per region or so as a blog streak). Or what kind of snacks before eating lunch or dinner are commonly eaten. It would be great to see any of these suggestions, but I’m sure you’ll show us wonderful things either way in the future!
So, again, thank you so incredibly much for having created and tended to this amazing website, sharing your travels, life and wonderful knowledge and recipes with all of us! Thank you for that we may be part of the JOC family.
All the best to you,
Julia
Wow, it doesn’t seem that many years have past. The Blog is something or better yet a friend of Japanese cooking that I look forward to. With each one I am immerse in a new recipe experience and desire to return to Japan.
Happy 7th anniversary, JOC!
I have followed the blog and the recipes for nearly 3 years now and I enjoy cooking with your recipes. Clear and concise instructions that are easy to follow and delicious taste, I also love that you provide alternative suggestions for when the suggested ingredients and tools are not available. Beautiful presentation and attention to detail. For me, I can’t think of anything else to improve as of now. Thank you so much for all of your hard work!
Love your blog and have tried and enjoy many of your recipes!
Hi Nami and Mr JOC!!!
It’s fun always to get into the blog and see the videos of the receipes!! I miss Japan, I was living there from year 1996t 2000, and enjoy all: the food!!, the people, the landscapes! Now I’m living in a beautiful village located in the south of Chile, in the Lakes region, the village (turning into a city now) is called Puerto Varas, with a nice view to a big lake and volcanoes. After coming back from Japan I really missed all so started to look after where to find this marvelous food… restaurants, internet, … so later I came upon to your blog and videos an sticker to both!! So tried to start to cook every now and then … bought ingredients and so on.
How to suggest how to improved your blog?? It so good! In fact excellent! It shows your dedication and patience in every aspect, the photographs, the scenery, colors, combination of plates pottery, it’s realky nice to see!! All details are very well thought! Congrats!
I would add more give always!! It’s very fun!! Hopefully I can get one of those!!!
Cheers from Chile
All the best
Claudia
Each day I look forward to receiving your recipes. You make cooking seem so simple for someone like me, who didn’t really like cooking until I started following your newsletters/facebook posts. I love watching the video step by step instructions and cooking tips as well as reading about your travel adventures. I would love to cook like you one day.
Thank you for sharing your recipes, family and adventures. Look forward to future discoveries and traditional flavors.
Hey Nami! Long time reader here! I really enjoy the authenticity of your blog as I’m a huge fan of the Japanese culture, especially the food.
The only feedback I would have comes from a recent comment I made, and prompt reply from you. Maybe add a footnote to your blogs for cooking hacks in case we don’t have all the cool and necessary cooking gadgets you have. (Porridge setting on a rice cooker.) Beyond that feedback, I love your blog and often cannot wait to try cooking new recipes.
Thanks you!
Congratulations on 7 years! I remember finding your website after returning from my first time in Japan, and it’s been a staple for most of my Japanese recipes ever since then.
I am subscribed to the newsletter, so my comments/feedback about the blog and videos:
I really like the format of your videos. I mostly use the blog itself since I’m used to following recipes, but I’ve taken a look at the videos before and they’re very easy to follow. I personally like how on some recipes (I’m thinking of the omurice recipe), you mention the history of the dish which I like reading about. The ingredients pantry is also really useful when I have to buy something at the store and have no idea what it looks like, so I like how blog posts will link to that for common Japanese ingredients. Finally, I like that it’s really easy to distinguish the recipe from the page content; sometimes I just want to see the recipe and not the whole post, especially if I’ve read it before, so being able to quickly find the recipe is nice. I don’t have many suggestions since JOC has been a smooth experience for me so far, so I guess just keep doing what you’re doing! 🙂
Hi! I love your website it’s full of easy to make yummy recipes. I’m a big fan of Japanese food and it’s great the find so many recipes in English. And I really like the other types of articles i.e. best movies to watch or books on Japanese culture. Giveaways r awesome thanks ! For recipes which contains alcohol it would be nice to have a replacement ingredient (if available) for those who do consume alcohol like myself. Good job ????????
*i meant do not consume alcohol sorry.
Love seeing all the yummy recipes to try. My kids look forward to me trying different recipes every week, and they love seeing their bento lunch surprises too. Thank you for all that you do! You make our hearts and tummies happy ????

Hi Nami,
Have you seen the Pentel Energel pens with Japanese pattern designs? Spotted them at a local stationery fair. Super pretty. Would make a nice gift for kids 🙂
The items you have written are easy to understand and the ingredients are accessible. It is a quick read. Reminds me of my mother…
Have made many of your recipes& thank you for sharing them Bethel, CT 06801
I really appreciate your information on authentic ingredients, the flavor profiles and how and where to purchase them and ranking the brand names as good, better, best. This has made it so much easier to try new recipes especially since I have to order most ingredients. I love being able to cook items at home where I can control the additives, fat content etc. Love your recipes as they have introduced me to so many new food items and flavors.
Hello Nami, Mr JOC
Greetings from Singapore!
I was searching for some salad recipe to make for a potluck and I came across the Japanese cucumber seaweed in your blog. It was well received! I hope you will have more recipes ,for vegetarian moving forward 🙂
I am also learning English writing from you by reading your blog. You write very well – clear and concise . Thumbs up!
I love, love, LOVE your blog. It’s my go to go Japanese recipes and it’s so easy to follow. I’ve tried rolled omelets, musubi, gyoza, and onigiri (still have to work on this one). I even started to learn Japanese. Thank you for taking time out of your day to bring this blog to the masses. Take care and arigato-gozaimasu!
My sister in law showed me your website a couple of years ago. It’s great to see recipes of some of our favourite dishes, and we’ve found the recipes easy to follow. Would love to see more baked version of deep fried food (e.g. the baked katsudon recipe is great!), as deep frying can be difficult at home.

Originally from Taiwan but have been living in New Zealand over 20+ years
Not sure how long I’ve been watching your videos, but I enjoyed everyone I’ve seen so far. The instructions are easy to follow and lil by lil I’ve noticed my cooking skill improving 🙂 Thank you for continuing the great work. I also follow you on Facebook and that’s how I discovered about your blog as well
I read your blogs all the time
Congrats!
Absolutely love all your recipes!
paul Bacino/Omaha nebraska
Love your blog and the recipes. I like if you’re in a hurry, you can jump directly to the recipe..
Hello Nami san,
Learned alot of delicious home cooked food from your blog. Cld you please do more videos on pressure cooker cooking because I still have phobia in cooking with pressure cooker. Thank you.
Love your blog! You have beautiful pictures of the food in addition to easy to follow recipes. Also enjoy the articles on Japanese culture. Congratulations on your anniversary!
Hiya! I’ts been awhile since i’ve entered one of your contests. But in regard of your amazing anniversery i wanted to participate! I have no suggestions because this blog is for me already perfect. Keep up doing the amazing work and being the amazing person that you are!
Lots of Love
Skye
Hi Nami! I love your blog and use it multiple times a week! I started teaching myself Japanese cooking before your blog was started–in 2007–the first time I lived in Japan. Now I have 2 small children and they enjoy Japanese food as much as I do. We lived in Yokohama last year and now live in Hyogo prefecture. Japan is one of my favorite places to live and I’m enjoying the food it has to offer more than ever before, partly due to your recipes and tips! So, thank you!
Suggestions… Some of your older posts have some steps or cooking times missing. It would be helpful to have someone go through and clean things up a bit, maybe? Also, I’d love to see some more blog entries from Japan! Will you be traveling here again soon?? If you’re looking for someone to provide guest posts, please do contact me. I think your readers would love a regular peek into the food culture in Japan.
Happy anniversary!
almost a year since I found JOC and it’s been great experience
now that I think about it, it’s the start of my interest in japanese foods
if you can make the web more mobile friendly I’ll gladly appreciate it!
keep up the good work! always nice to see the story behind each recipe
Love your blog. Found it by chance looking for some Japanese recipes and have been following since.
Congratulations on your 7th year !!! You are such an inspiration, makes me want to start my own blog too!!!
I love your desserts, & would love to see more of it !!!! Kudos to the videos!! Love that they’re such high quality!!
You helped me moving first steps into japanese cuisine, and now this blog is a solid reference for all my asian cooking recipes!
Love all the content on this blog. Food especially, but following your travel logs also allows me to live vicariously through you and your family as I don’t have the opportunity to go back to Japan as often. Keep up the great work!!
My favorite japanese recipes blog! Keep it up with more videos and recipes!
So have enjoyed your recipes and Utube videos, Thank You!
My husband and brother both lived in Japan as very young boys. Their mother has been long past so have no actual recipes, and they both have definate favorite foods from that period of their lives.
I have been trying to replicate these recipes from their descriptions. I Love to cook and have found your recipes to be very close to what they are asking for. Thank You
Hi Nami!
I started watching your youtube channel about two years ago and have been loving all the recipes ever since!. I’ve come to love and understand the Japanese culture even more ever since subscribing to your blog. I’m from Wisconsin and so I don’t have a lot of access to a Japanese grocery store unless I go out of state. But I’m glad I found your blog because it has taught me good alternatives to products that may be hard to find.
I look forward to seeing even more blogs/videos in 2018! Congrats again on seven years and many more years to come!
Hello!
I’m from Colombia but I currently live in France. I follow your blog since some years ago, I was searching for a home japanese food blog and I just fall in love with your posts, they are very spontaneous and feel real. Moreover, commonly you do some research regarding ingredients and techniques!
I would love to see more fusions recipes in your blog and make from the scratch 🙂
I know that there have some posts about, but I think that the recommendations for restaurants, stores, etc are not easily to be found.
Your photos are exactly how your recipes come out. I have looked at photos of recipes on other sites and the photo does not match the recipe. Your photos make me hungry.
I love everything about your blog . It’s informative and I learn a lot . I can’t think of anything I’d change.
I love how informative your blog is , I learn something new all the time . I wouldn’t change anything .
Congratulations on your 7th blog anniversary, Nami!
I’ve been reading your posts and trying your delicious recipes for years. Thank you for all your wonderful work!
I love the new search function design since you changed the design of the website. I can’t really think of anything to improve, except that the search button on the mobile version of the website sometimes doesn’t line up properly??
Anyway, congratulations again!
I love your email newsletter and your blog. Your recipes are easy to follow because of your step-by-step instructions. My mom passed away three months ago, but she loved your miso soup recipe. I surprised her one day by cooking it for her. She told me it reminded her of the miso soup she ate as a little girl. I treasure your recipes so much now that my mom is gone because you help me cook dishes that remind me of her and that she didn’t get a chance to teach me. Thank you so much. Keep the recipes coming!!
Just one cookbook is my go-to site for Japanese recipes. I like the variety, I like your videos, and i like how you make suggestions for substitutions for items that might be hard to find outside of Japan. I can’t imagine how you would improve the site. Happy Anniversary!
Wonderful recipes! Love your site!
Your blog is my top sites I go to for recipes. Thanks for sharing ! Maybe we could have quick tips or ingredient substitutions available, but overall your content is great!
I love your blog and all the recipes. Thank you.
Hi!
I am from Yokohama and have lived on Guam for over 40 years. I have been a subscriber for a year now and love the chance to try recipes I grew up eating but did not know how to make!! It is getting harder to find Japanese foods and products here but at least have basics. Would like to see videos on making a variety of pickles…
Congratulations>>>omedeto gozaimasu<<< on your anniversary!!!
I love your recipes, tried many of them and the results were always amazing!
I’ve been a longtime subscriber and love your newsletter. Seven years, keep up the good work!!!
I am pretty new to your blog so I don’t have much feedback yet other than I have enjoyed it. My husband served in the US Marine Corps back in the 70’s and was stationed in Japan for some time. He has talked about the Yakisoba he ate over there for years and years. He loved it and always wanted me to make him some. I am Italian so I cook all the time (lol) but never really cooked much Japanese or other Asian food. So we got to talking about Yakisoba again a few weeks ago so I decided to do some more searching and that’s when I found your blog and recipe. He was thrilled! I made the recipe from your instructions and it was a big hit! Thank you for sharing!
I just love your blog. I just stumbled on your Japanese Strawberry Shortcake. Debating whether I want to attempt to make it. Sounds delish. Love your videos.
What brought me to your website was my search for homemade recipes for some of my favorite foods. I was GIDDY with excitement when my Google search brought me to you. The recipes for bulgogi, okonomiyaki, ramen noodles, and the DESSERTS! Oh my–it was a dream come true finding you are here for us! I don’t see a thing to improve on perfection. Keep doing what you do so well, and thanks for providing us with inspiration on our next meal!
Love reading your blog! Thank you!
I’d love to win!
Hi Nami,
I’ve been a fan for a couple years now and never cease to enjoy your delicious recipes! I would love to see more quick and easy recipes or those with ingredients easily found in the U.S.
Thank you!
Raneem
I love you blogs! You have some really interesting and healthy recipes! Keep up the good work! jojocross@aol.com
I’ve been watching your channel for almost 3 years I believe, and all of your recipes are so easy to follow and well planned out. I’ve tried a couple of them myself, including ramen, gyoza, and other really simple recipes. You and your husband do an amazing job keeping up the channel and the blog!
Love your page and the recipes! Many are my go-to recipes for delicious, healthy and easy meals! Congratulations on 7 years!
I love your blog-especially when you describe places you visit in Japan. So many places I would love to see. I have a suggestion for your next trip. The Itoigawa Seafood Shuttlebus https://www.hakuba1.com/pdf/seafood.pdf
This part of Niigata is so rich with seafood and other local treats.
I am fairly new to your blog but I have loved the recipes I have made so far. I love that you provide the Japanese name with each of the dishes. I would love to see more instant pot recipes, if you have more that you use regularly. That or conversions of recipes you already have (like you did with Kare-raisu).
It’s been a pleasure to read your recipes and your travel blogs.
They are not just informative, but beautifully written and fun as well! To be honest, I have a hard tome thinking of any suggestion to improve them. Let me just ssy keep up the good work!????
Great website! My feedback is to include good meal prep recipes or foods that will keep for a few meals.
Stumbled across your blog earlier last year searching for Japanese recipes. Loving the blog, the tips, and the recipes.
I am rather new to the blog and was looking for japanese recipes after having spent 4 years in Kansai. I currentlt live in Minneapolis, I am very excited to cook JApanese food like in Japan here in the midwest! ありがとう!
I love your emphasis on getting all the ingredients together first. As in Chinese cooking, it’s 90% preparation and 10% cooking. The most infuriating thing when it comes to cooking is when you forgot a single ingredient and either you don’t have it or it’s not ready.
Hi! I love your recipes so much , but sometimes for longer recipes, it’s hard to scroll back to the materials section to check to see how much of a certain ingredient, so I like the amount needed is in the instructions as well so I don’t have to keep scrolling up to the ingredients section. It would be really awesome if more recipes could be like that!
First, thank you so much for the chance! I am a subscriber. I would love to see some more substitutions. Happy seventh!
I am new to your blog, but I love Japanese food. I look forward to trying some of your recipes!
I love your blog and your recipes. They are so well done, that it makes it easy for someone like me (who is not a good cook) to follow! Please keep up the awesome work and huge congratulations on the anniversary! 😀
Easy to follow videos and great tasting recipes. Love your postings on travel sites, used your recommendations to London our trip 3 months ago.
The Japanese Cheesecake has been a great hit at family and girl gatherings.
Hello Nani. I’m new to your blog. I found the when I googled a recipe for yakisoba noodles. I love cooking and trying new and different recipes. I look forward to learning from you.
I love your blog. Thank you for sharing your recipes with us!
Hi Nami, Im from Spain and I love japanese food and your recipes help me a lot to make it easy. Thank so much for share them with us. Congatulations in your aniversary.
You’re videos and posts has always left me nostalgic for home, my mom, and obviously the food. I am entirely jealous of your trips to Japan but I’m glad I get to experience them vicariously. Your content is absolutely beautiful and well done, props to both! I can’t think of a single thing to improve except just keep it coming! I don’t think think I’m alone in saying that I look forward to your posts every time.
Thank you and best wishes in your business!
Nami San, I have a good Okinawa friend who tells me about the food she used to eat there. I’m not sure where you’re from but maybe do a “tour of Japan” series showing off the various regions specialty’s. So glad I found your blog, it’s hard to find good Japanese recipes. Thank you
Congratulations!! Been following your blog for a few years now, I found you while searching for recipe inspiration when I first got my Instant Pot. I appreciate the detailed recipe photos and videos and that you’ve been responsive and helpful every time I’ve posed a question here. Congratulations on your success! Much love from Toronto, Canada 🙂
I would love it if you do more vegan friendly stuff.
Your Vegetarian Ramen is divine and everything I make from you which I veganize is terrific. I just wanted more things that are intentionally vegan.
Your blog and recipes are awesome. I love your instant pot recipes and would be interested in seeing more. Maybe adapting some of the more popular recipes to instant pot versions.
I just started reading a couple months ago when I got a bunch of Chinese ingredients from my mom. You have been a great resource!
Hi Nami, never commented before, but I follow you on YouTube, your chasu recipe was a huge hit on the last dinner I made for friends! Here in Brazil we have a huge japanese community, but sadly the good restaurants are all in Sao Paulo, which is very far from my city, and your channel is a good way of learning how to make this delicious food =) Just wanted you to know, keep up with this awesome site and channel!
Love the your recipes. They are very well prepared and written. Tried out many of your sweets with azuki beans. They are great. I was wondering if it is possible to add more vegan recipes or advice on vegan options for meat dishes. Thank you for letting us read about all those amazing Japanese food and culture!

Congratulations on 7 years.
Hi ! I’m new to your blog so I haven’t seen a lot of your posts/blogs. I found you via Facebook through another friend liking your posts. I’m from Sacramento California. I’m hoping you can help me be a good cook 🙂
I love your recipes, they’re easy to follow and delicious results.
Congratulations on 7 years. I’ve been following you for over a year. I Love all the recipes you put out and also the special content on your trips abroad, they brought back many special memories of my trip to Japan when i was younger.
Congratulations on your 7 year anniversary! Thank you for all your hard work. I love trying your recipes! Best wishes for continued success!
Thanks for this giveaway, Nami! I love your blog and have gotten introduced to many Japanese food and beverages. I do wish that there were more ingredients available easily for some of your dishes! For now, I love your spinach with sesame sauce recipe!
I don’t have much feedback because you do such a great job! I love how easy it is to follow your recipes and the videos are well made.
Hi! I am new to your blog. I found you because I am always searching for new Instant Pot/slow cooker recipes, giveaways, and just fun blogs to follow. Have you tried cooking salmon in the Instant Pot yet? That is my current obsession. Haha! I am searching for the perfect recipe.
Congratulation! I’ve been following JOC for while now. Whenever I feel to eat some Japanese dishes, always come here to get inspiration. As a suggestion, I am hoping to see more eggless dessert in future though. Love your recipes and always looking forward to your new recipes. 🙂
I’m a subscriber. One thing to improve your blog is don’t have the videos automatically start. I find the slows down the page and I don’t always want to watch the video. But I love your recipes! Keep up the good work!
Judy.corvetti@gmail.com
Happy 7th Birthday !!
Love reading your blog, Instagram and your recipes !
Keep on doing what you’ve been doing !!
I LOVE the videos!! The one thing I think the blog could use is an interface/format update. I’m not really sure what exactly needs updating, but I just think it could be a little more user friendly.
Great blog, I always look forward to the new recipes.
Congratulations on 7 years! I love your step by step instructions with photos. I try to cook with my kids and I love that I can show them how its made first via video and have the photos too bc they are still too young to read. I always look forward to your newsletter in my inbox!
Love your blog and I’ve tried many of your recipes and and benefited tremendously from it. Your recipes are simple to follow. Yummy!
I really don’t have anything to add , your site has been my go to for Japanese cusine. This is especially useful as my son recently came back from Japan on a student exchange program and fell in love with Japan.
I love all your recipes! Your presentation is also very meticulous and I love your blog. It is very easy to maneuver around and find the best recipes for what I want to make/what I’m craving! Thank you so much! You’re the best!
Please make your cookbook available in hard copy.
Love your recipes. Thank you
I want to win 🙂
I have been subscribed to your newsletter for about 2 years maybe more and and I absolutely love it! I only look forward to more delicious recipes for me to try with my family. Congratulations on 7 years, and to many more. ????
Hi! I’ve been a subscriber for over a year now and absolutely would love if you could post even more Japanese comfort food/home cooked weeknight meals! Thank you!
Amazing blog! It’s great to see all the authentic Japanese food that’s possible to make here in the US, and you’ve been an inspiration since I moved back here from Japan. Thank you for all your delicious recipes and helpful tips. 今年もブログを楽しみにしています。
Hi! Thank you for your blog and videos – I enjoy reading them and I have used so many of your recipes! Right now I don’t have any improvement comments. Thank you again!
I have been obsessed with your blog from its second year (around then, I think). I only follow one – JOC! 🙂 I have Twitter and Instagram accounts ONLY because of this blog. As for suggestions, I don’t really have any. Five years ago, I decided to change my life by changing my relationship to food. Washoku principles in Japanese cooking, and the portion control afforded by bento meals has helped me a lot. I found this blog in my search for Japanese recipes to try and I loved it! Thank you, Nami!
I would love to see recipes from other areas more often like Okinawa!
Thank you SO MUCH for your wonderful recipes and easy-to-follow instructions!! They have been so helpful to me, as I try to re-create for my Japanese-born husband, those dishes he was raised on but which were unfamiliar to me!!!
Congrats on your anniversary! I know some recipes are pretty hard to show in pictures, but I prefer those to videos, personally. Other than that, nothing comes to mind. 🙂
Always excited to see yoir posts and learn something new or drool over the yummy food ^_^
You recipes area all very easy to follow and understand. I wish I could think of some good suggestions. Good luck and congrats on seven years!
Hi, I’m a subscriber of your e-mails. I don’t really have any suggestions. I like how you spotlight readers who have tried and commented on your recipes. I also like the addition of the Instagram posts with the tag #justonecookbook. It’s fun to see what others are trying and how the recipes turn out.
What if I’m already subscribed to the newsletter. Also, this is my comment.
Dear Nami
Whenever I am in mood for some Japanese food I look at your website first. Now I even got my son to look at your website too.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, your recipe etc. with up.
Happy 7th anniversary. Keep up the great work.
I love your recipes and your update emails that you send out. More Instant Pot recipes would be nice though! I have also been struggling a bit finding some Japanese ingredients. Do you have suggestions on grocery stores or potentially online stores where I could purchase from?
I’m already an. email subscriber and i love getting emails from you. Its great to see delicious food in my inbox. I would love to see more two person sized portions or lunches! Thanks to your blog, I can make curry all the time without a roux pack! Which is hard to find in my grocery stores. Thanks again! ❤????????
Hi Naomi! I just recently found your blog and I adore your videos! I first found your YouTube channel when I was looking for ideas to make a bento and then those matcha cookies which are delicious made me a subscriber. ????
I have subscribed to this blog I think for some years now. I don’t really have any suggestions, but I just wanna say thank you for sharing all of these lovely recipes with us, I fell in love with Japanese food many years ago, you helped me to make many dishes and showed me many new ones. I also like the pictures in the recipes, they can be very helpful.
One thing I would like to ask for, recipes using natto! I have fallen in love with it and eat it regularly for breakfast. I love it simply over rice with some spring onion, but it would be fun to try it different ways. 🙂
I just found your recipes and can’t wait to start trying them. I’m going to start with the favorites from 2017.

Hi, I think your recipes are pretty great (and very tasty), but I’d love if you made some more vegetarian ones! I try to make my own substitutions using tofu and such but sometimes it doesn’t taste that good. My partner eats meat so I’d love a recipe that you can either add meat or tofu to (so that the main part of the meal is vegetarian and the only meaty bit is an addition on top). I’d love to eat the same meal as my partner knowing his is enjoying it just as much as I am!

Hi, I am a fan of the JOC blog from Belgium since about a month and tried some recipes with success ( kabocha gratin a.o.). The contextual and cultural explanations make it great, the recipes are detailed and clear and I love the japanese denominations as a language student. The modern touch reminds me of Kurihara Harumi’s recipes. Many thanks and a happy new year.
I would love to see more Taiwanese cuisines!
Happy Anniversary Nami-san and Mr. JOC! Congratulations on your wonderful blog. I love the recipes you provide and try to make sure one is on our menu every one to two weeks.
My feedback/suggestion/request would be to keep the step-by-step photos and instructions in your format and not to go strictly to video. I am just not a video person when cooking, but I’ve seen some blogs and cooking websites that are now only doing video. I am sure it is a ton of work to do both, but you can appeal better to all types of people this way.
Thanks for all of your hard work and for providing such excellent recipes!
I forgot to say we live just south of you here in Santa Cruz, CA!
Hi! My family uses Just One Cookbook almost daily! I tried to sign up for your mailing list but AWeber says it’s inactive and to notify the site owner.
One thing I would love to see on the site are menu suggestions that help you plan and condense our grocery list! Or ideas on how You save time through the week on meal prep. I love the sections where you give ideas on what to do with leftover stock and freezing rice.
Hello Nami,
I discovered your website when I was looking up for new receipts possibilities. I never was in touch with Japanese Food before but now it is a part of my weekly meals. The best is, that I don’t have to worry about my allergies as milk products are seldom used in Japanese Food, this makes it so much easier for me to enjoy a meal.
What I would wish for, what maybe is not possible as it very specific, are ideas for the dessert receipts what replacement for milk products I can use. Of course I can try out myself and I often consult a Vegan Friend for it 🙂
I still want to try all of your receipts!
Please keep up the work!!
I love your blog – for Japanese recipes I always check yours first!
I love that you detail everything (including what utensil/kitchen gadget you use and the direct link to where you get them).
I would love to maybe see more vegetarian options. I could always omit the meat part of a dish but maybe simply doing purely vegetarian dishes could be fun.
I subscribed!
Brilliant recipes for yummy Japanese food! Many thanks.
Thank you for the amazing recipes and tips. I love your recipes and always browsing your site every time I ran out of idea what to cook for my son. Also through your site, I browsed Little Miss Bento, Bento USA and other interesting sites.
Could you introduce more bento ideas? I make lunch bento for my son everyday and had been repeatedly the same couple items and even myself is bored of them sometimes. I try to avoid sausages, ham and other processed food.
I also live in San Francisco and may be one day I will meet you on the street. 😀
Hi! Happy 7th anniversary!
First, I want you to know how much your blog has meant to me. When you say “it’s so easy” or “it’s so simple”, I don’t always experience it as written. **sigh** But! For something I can’t define in words, there has never been a recipe of a dish to my liking on your blog which I give up trying. I sweat over a recipe, sometimes. But my passion grows from each of the recipe I try, and from the stories you write, and! From the photos you share.
I had always wished to tell you also, if only you could include grams, centimeters, and Celcius on your recipe, I could save a drop of sweat. Yes, you are USA-based. But! You are sharing mainly Japanese recipes, aren’t you not?
I wonder what your version of okowa is. There should be several, I bet.
Please keep everything up, because I still have some space for my cooking passion to grow — more. Yoroshiku.
Sincerely,
Shuni
I really like your recipes and reading about different styles of cooking. I subscribe to your emails.
Discovered you recently on Facebook (6 months ago) looking to recreate some of my childhood favorite dishes that my mom would make. I’ve already used quite a few recipes. Although not all of the dishes that I’ve made are exactly like “mom’s” they are just as good if not better sometimes. Thanks for keeping up the blog and I hope to make more dishes in the future. ????
Been saving up to buy that Japanese knife!
Hi! I’m subscribed to your newsletter! I’m a huge instagram user, so I mainly watch your videos and read your posts on instagram. I love your recipe videos on instagram because it shows the technique behind your cooking. I also like your food posts from areas around the world! It makes me want to visit those places, and when I do, I will definitely try to hit some of the restaurants and places you went! Traveling to new places is so exciting, and I want to thank you for posting guides! I will definitely use it when I visit London!
Great to get recipes directly to my mailbox
My email is missmoxieatmacdotcom. I love the blog and have tried several recipes but we love the matcha cookies and the sautéed pork dish with cabbage. You really make me want to try new foods.
おめでとう???? Congratulations on your 7th anniversary! Thank you for all your hard work and sharing your recipes and techniques with us.
I love your blog and recipes, and my only suggestion is maybe more instant pot recipes? I just got one for Christmas and the first thing I did with it was make one of your posted recipes. Thank you for all your work!
Hi Naomi! I learned about your recipe from google, love it.
I actually tried tempura recipe, egg pudding( success)
Love the way you take the picture of your food and throughout explaination of each recipe
I’ve been a subscriber for a while, and really enjoy your recipes and videos. If friends ask about Japanese dishes, I know that I can refer them to your site for a solid recipe and easy-to-follow instructions. For me, I especially like the dessert recipes, which I can pair with tea. I can’t find much to say about how things can be improved. Just keep doing what you’re doing! Warm regards, Tatsuo Tomeoka, Charaku Fine Japanese Tea
Congratulations on seven years, Nami! I’ve been following your blog for, wow, six years or longer? There have been many life changes for me (moving to the San Francisco bay area, then London, then having a baby and moving back to the Bay!) and your blog has always been a constant for me. Thank you for the quick, healthy recipes that got me through tired days and “Hmmm, what’s for dinner?” nights. Looking forward to the next seven years!
I know you wanted suggestions but I love your blog as is. I loved watching my mom make Japanese food when I was younger. It’s fun to be able to surprise her by making her favorite foods for her now. Your recipes are easy to use, the pictures are beautiful and I always get great results.
Thank you for all the hard work you and Mr JOC put into your blog!! I have used many of your recipes and truly enjoy the AJI combinations. Domo!!
I think I’ve been following your blog for about 2 or 3 years now and I love all the new Japanese recipes you’ve introduced to me especially since I’m now living in Japan. I especially appreciate the little culture blurbs that you write up. They’re very interesting and informative and helps me feel more connected to this new place I’m living in.
I think it’d be nice to see you do more foods from different medias like you have been doing with Midnight Diner.
Love your recipes, just got an instant pot so I am going to start trying those also.
Love your posts and your recipes. My son is a big fan of Japanese cuisine, so he is enjoying your recipes as well!
Congratulations on your anniversary! Thank you for bringing so much delicious into my life. I’m eternally grateful.
Regarding suggestions, your channel and blog are so amazing already. SInce food photography is my hobby, it would be fun to have tutorials on plating/arranging and photography. Also, it’d be fun to see collaborations with other channels like TabiEats.
Once again, thank you for everything, Nami-san!
Wow, seven years – impressive. Well done Nami!! We’re off to Japan for our Summer holiday this year and your website is helping me to find out so much about Japanese food & travel tips/ideas, it really is an invaluable tool. Our favourite recipes so far have been homemade turkey gyozas and mushroom & spinach oyakis . Keep up the good work 🙂
Wow! Another great giveaway by the JOC family. As always love the recipes and videos.
Great website! I think the recipes with the videos are the best. Can you make all your future recipes with videos? Thanks! P.s. I am trying to win any of the prizes. =)
I love your blog. I found you via the search of baked Tonkatsu recipe and I’m hooked after that. Thank you for your blog.
Commenting. Thanks!
I love your recipes and blog! I don’t have much feedback, I just enjoy learning about new recipes. As a Japanese American whose mother didn’t cook much Japanese food, I greatly enjoy being able to learn recipes through your blog.
Hi Nami. I started following your website last year because we just got married and started cooking for ourselves. I found your website super helpful with the videos and also detailed pictures with each step. Looking forward to many more new recipes.
Congratulations on 7 years! I found this blog while looking for Japanese recipes, but stayed because of the character and charm of the posts – I love being able to follow along with the things you and your family are doing!
Any more posts on easy/quick vegetable recipes would be very much appreciated. I always need more ways to cook vegetables!
I just found your blog today while I was looking for a recipe for Tamago (which I pinned and sent to my son). My sons and I share recipes back and forth and are always on the lookout for new things to try and ways to challenge each other to continue to improve our cooking skills (they far exceed my own). ;D
I love your recipes and always excited when you come out with something new. The only suggestion I have is possibly some variety in the newsletters they feel a bit repetitive at times.
Your blogs take me back to living in Japan. Congratulations on 7 years!
Hi Nami! Congratulations on 7 great years! I have no suggestions for improvement as I think all your posts are great but a request for more Instant Pot recipes, please. Thank you to you and Mr. JOC for all your hard work.
I always enjoy reading your blog and trying your recipes! They never disappoint. Thanks for seven years of fun!
Hi Nami! Love your blog 🙂 I have made your Matcha tiramisu recipe 5 times!! Everyone loved it..wish it has a video though 🙂
I have found all recipes on Justonecookbook great to make and of course EAT! I love this type of food and the instructions/recipes given make it easy to look good in the kitchen. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge with your visitors.
Mark
I really like your thoughts on Japanese culture aside from your fantastic recipes. I love reading the details you have on specific ingredients or just various traditions (like for oshogatsu). I want to maintain my Japanese heritage for myself and my future kids so I love reading why mochi is eaten during new year aside from just enjoying the food. Keep up the good work and congratulations on another year of the blog! I reference your site just about every week for cooking ideas or recipes <3
Happy anniversary, and thanks for all the great articles, videos and recipes!
I really like your videos because they tend to be very thorough and make it easy to follow your recipes. However, faster pacing would add to the overall watchability. Keep up the good work!
The videos are very help in preparation of various delightful dishes. Thanks for your delicious recipes.
Happy 7th Anniversary!
Happy 7th Anniversary!!
I can’t remember how I stumbled upon the blog, but I think it was when I had a craving for hiyashi chuka and searched the internet for a recipe. That was a couple of years ago, and I still use that recipe! I love how you’ve covered seemingly every food item I look for, from simmered kabocha to dorayaki to chawanmushi. Now that we have an Instant Pot, those are the recipes I look for the most. Thanks for this blog, Namiko! When are you going to put out a cookbook?
Congratulations on 7 years of amazing cooking. Your recipes, videos and presentations always have inspired me to try new recipes. Thank you very much.
I really enjoy watching the video. Everything turns out delicious ????
I love trying your recipes. Everything I’ve tried has been delicious!
Love your recipes Nami san
Hi, I’m from Atlanta. I found your website when I was searching for a recipe to make green tea cookies. They turned out delicious! Thank you! Can’t wait to try your other recipes.
Happy birthday JOC! I love you blog…especially living in South Africa and we don’t have lots of great Asian restaurants around, we can only depend on great recipes online so we have good Japanese food at home.
I hope maybe for some future recipes I am looking forward to see you cooking some of the meals in Kodoku no Gurume, Samurai Gourmet and Midnight Diner! And using the fresh ingredients that we are able to get from overseas.
Congratulations on 7 years!!
I am subscribed to your newsletter.
Thank you for all the wonderful recipes! I’m from Los Angeles, and found your blog looking for donabe recipes, and instant pot recipes, and I’m so glad I found you!
I have loved Japanese food since my parents took me to a Japanese restaurant as a young child. I have tried making some popular Japanese dishes and I was so happy to have discovered your blog because you have given me a new avenue to learn techniques and discover new dishes. Thank you for always giving us beautiful videos and recipes.
JOC, Happy Anniversary! I saw that you thanked us as your readers, but I actually want to thank you! Your recipes are easy to follow are delicious! That’s why I choose to continue to read and tune into your blog!
Love your recipes. Could you do more instant pot Japanese recipes please?
Your blog is my go-to for whenever I crave Japanese food which is often! I’ve told many of my friends to try your recipes.
Love JOC! I lived in Japan for 10 years and this is where I go to find all my favorite recipes. The how to videos give me the confidence to tackle new dishes plus they are so beautifully produced that I just love watching them. Thanks for all your hard work!
Hi Nami~ I’ve been a frequent visitor of JOC for a while now! I’m also from the Bay Area, but I’m on the East Coast attending college. I was wondering if you could include more college student-friendly recipes for someone who might not have access to all the ingredients or have as much time to cook. Thanks again for giving me a taste of home and congrats on your seven year anniversary!
Hello! I recently found your blog when I was searching for a recipe for Chiffon cake. I enjoyed your video a lot. Then I also tried and did the miso chicken. Great idea! Easy to follow. I am originally from Taiwan living in New York. Will try more of recipe soon!
Rice cooker and pressure cooker are my dearests!
I am so happy that I have found your blog. Your recipes are easy to follow and the videos are helping a lot.
I especially like the points where you diy – that you do for instance sauces from scratch and you do not use bought ones.
Here in Finland we do not have access to very rare ingredients so every day family meal recipes and tricks are highly appreciated!!
Love your website! Outstanding recipes,
I visit your blog consistently for inspiration! Thank you for sharing your ideas.
I can’t believe it has been seven years for you guys! So awesome! And I would love to win one of the giveaway items because I’m getting married soon and need kitchenware. 🙂
I’d love videos or blog posts about how to get started in creating a media platform in food industry. How did you and Mr. JOC get started in food? Blog posts for future projects and possible collaborations!
I really enjoy your blog and videos, and I especially appreciate the newsletter. Everything is clear, concise, well-filmed and photographed, and you explain and demonstrate with ease and and a smile. Thank you! 🙂
Hi,
My name is Josh. I lived in Okinawa for about five and a half years. I found your blog while looking for a bamboo steamer. I would love to find a recipe for traditional ramen, my daughter’s favorite meal from Japan!
We live in Western New York.
Thank you,
Josh
Congrats on your 7 year blog anniversary! So glad I found your site. Yummy recipes and love the videos (in case I have any questions on what to do). Recently, I tried your pressure cooker recipe for Japanese curry. Didn’t realize my “cubes” was actually pre-made sauce. Tried it anyway and needed to add a cornstarch slurry to thicken it up a bit. I like making Japanese curry from scratch, but will turn to this recipe if I don’t want to do all the work. 🙂
Hi my feedback would be to include in your blog (if you haven’t already) any restaurants you would recommend at any locations you visit!
I’m a happy long-term e-mail subscriber to your newsletter and have never been left disappointed with your recipes and tips. Some of them – like Ginger Rice, Teriyaki Salmon or Gyudon – have been a staple in my cooking for quite some time now and I love trying out new things whenever I’ve got time. Please, don’t stop posting recipes of exclusively Japanese origin – those inspired by western meals are usually superb, too, but nothing beats the charms of the original, traditional and utterly delicious Japanese cuisine!
I already love JOC as it is so I guess my only real suggestion would be more content. Even if it’s just short blog posts and/or videos, it’s nice whenever I see that there’s something new from you guys 🙂
I found your blog looking for a recipe for kabocha squash. I’m in the Pacific Northwest.
Hello,
I’m a subscriber to your blog and I’m watching your videos with pleasure.
I discover and I become a great fan of Japonese’ food when I went to Japan where I learn how to prepare sushi and maki.
All my family and friends came at home specifically to eat my Japonese food.
I’m leaving in Paris’ neighbour.
Continue to learn us your recipes.
I can’t believe I’ve only just discovered this website! I love Japanese food and can’t wait to try making some of these dishes at home.
I just love the classic Japanese recipes. My mom says she’s forgetting how to make certain foods now that she’s been in the states for so long so I will often use you as a resource for ingredients we may have forgotten!
There are several things I have to special order being in a rural area. I love having your recipes available for myself and my family
I love your recipes! My daughter did a student exchange for a couple of weeks in Japan and loved it and now loves all things Japanese, especially the food!
I’m trying to figure out feedback to leave, but I’m honestly having a hard time thinking of any! I use your melon pan recipe regularly and the instructions are so nice (detailed, pictures, etc.) it’s only of the only recipes I haven’t skimmed down to put in my own recipe list– I just come back to the site every time!
I’ve been following Nami さんの blog for a long time. As My husband and I are love Japanese cuisine, I learn to cook a lot of Japanese dish through Nami’s blog. ありがとうございました!
I enjoy your story behind each recipe and really appreciate the step-by-step photos for each as well as the videos. I will copy & paste recipes which I love and save onto my USB drive. What I would like is an option to save a recipe as a PDF file so it saves time without having to copy & paste. I ALWAYS prefer a hardcopy as I like to touch & flip through pages of any book. I know you have an e-cookbook, but is there a DVD for a collection of some your recipe videos?
It would be a great way to celebrate the New Year by winning one of the wonderful prizes for this 7th Anniversary giveaway!!!!
7 nen omedeto gozaimasu!!!
omedeto gozaimasu!
Hi Nami,
Thank you for always having giveaways for your readers! 🙂
I like your recipes a lot and I have a few go-to’s. I really like that you introduce some Japanese culture in your blogs! I would like to see more blog posts about Japanese culture (which I believe are blog posts that Reese and Kayoko focus on).
The only feedback I have is, I have troubles with the webpage on my phone. It has a mind of its own when I use my phone and it refreshes every now and then.
Hi,
I found your blog through foodgawker when browsing for recipes. They have been great so far.
Thanks!
I have just recently started subscribing to this newsletter this past fall. I have enjoyed looking at this blog and have made a few recipes such as the spaghetti neapolitan from the Midnight Tokyo series. I found your blog when I have googled for various recipes over the last year and I finally subscribed to your newsletter! I live in North Carolina and have to drive two hours to the Super G Mart, but it’s worth it to be able to make certain dishes! I have enjoyed reading your blog. Thank you for these recipes!
Hi Nami! I love your newsletter and blog, your recipes are delicious and easy to follow. I make your Chashu Ramen for our friends all the time and they say it’s better than the stuff at the local shop. ???? thank you for all your hard work, the videos are especially helpful!
Your blog recipes are very easy to follow. What I would like to see is more variety. For example, maybe your spin on a Korean or American recipe? Like a cultural fusion of sorts. Otherwise, love the website!
I want to see more bento box recipes for adults on the go.
I came across your blog a couple of months ago when I searching how to make pressure cooker anko! Then gyozas and now this blog is my go-to when I want to make Japanese food. I love that you present the traditional way of doing things but also give alternatives (baked tonkatsu, broiled yakitori..). Plus the fact that you actually respond to comments it’s amazing. I’m from Portugal.
I found your blog after going on a trip to Japan. I loved all of the food I ate there and wanted to recreate some of the stuff I ate. I haven’t made a lot of things you have recipes for, but I have loved the things I have made. I can’t think of anything that needs to be improved. Keep up the good work!
Hello! Congratulations on your 7th year anniversary!
I discovered your blog a few years ago when I was looking for a Japanese recipe for dinner one night and I have been following ever since!
I appreciate your clear directions on recipes and how you make time-saving suggestions that don’t compromise the overall flavour of a dish.
Keep up the great work and I look forward to trying your new recipes in the future!
Love your blog! I’d love to see a few more Asian desserts as Chinese New Year is approaching.
I am still fairly new to your blog, which I discovered late last year via your YouTube channel. I love all Asian cuisine, being a Filipina, and I wanted to be able to cook authentic Japanese cuisine for my family and I. Fun tidbit – my husband and I both studied and minored Japanese back in college, my husband got to study abroad in Japan in Nagoya, and we’re both planning our trip there this year.
You have a fabulous blog – it’s so detailed and helpful. Thank you for sharing all this!!
Best,
Marie-Lou
Hi! I love JOC. I’m originally from Singapore, but am now living in Australia. I stumbled across your blog when looking for authentic Japanese recipes and have been following you since 🙂 keep up all the good work!
I’m so glad that I found your blog! I live in the US but am originally from Taiwan and have always LOVED Japanese food. Thanks to your blog, I’ve learned many Japanese dishes!!
Nami has given me more ideas and knowledge that only experiences can provide. The blog is so well crafted, and diversify that I don’t need to visit other sites for recipes. Even her travel posts are exciting letting us not to forget to relax in the mist of this buzzing life. This my sincere feedback. Suggestions : please don’t stop posting. ????????????
Congratulations on the anniversary! I really appreciate your recipes – thank you! I’m not sure that I have any suggestions in regards to your content, but sometimes I have troubles loading on my iphone. Otherwise, just keep up the great work 🙂
Your recipes help me out when I need to mix things up for my family. Thank you so much for sharing with us!
Hello and Congratulations on 7 years! 😀 I love your blog posts, recipes, and videos. My only recommendation is that when you do vacation blogs, I would really like to learn a little more about the history of the places you visit, or about local traditions/culture. 🙂
I love how easy to follow your blog is! I wouldn’t change anything ????
I’ve subscribed to your blog for years now. Unfortunately, I don’t find myself near Mitsuwa so often anymore. But it gives me incentive to figure out ways to make Japanese-ish dishes.
wow. I’ve been following this blog for a year now. It’s helped me in many of the cooking-blocks that I’ve had. Much appreciated.
I really love your recipes and videos. I found your YouTube channel when I wanted to make sushi for the first time. Which still went pretty bad but I just need to practice a lot. It really like your tips and additional comments for substitutes for example. Maybe you can make recipes that don’t acquire a lot of difficult to get utensils. But aside for that love your recipes and blog about Japanese life style
I love your recipes. Looking forward to seeing more Instant Pot recipes. Keep up the excellent job!
I love your videos. I found you on Facebook one day. I like that you have video and written recipes. Helps to see it done.
I love Just One Cookbook, and I found it while browsing through recipes to make. There are so many recipes here that I would love to make, but I can’t due to the lack of whatever I need. So that’s one of my advice to you. Is it possible to make a few recipes using cheap ingredients, and/or fewer tools. For example the instant pot/pressure cooker. Also this isn’t related to your giveaway, but I relate so much. I hate blow drying my hair.
Thank you for all the tasty recipes. I have tried some of them, and will continue to try more. Keep up the good work!
I love your cooking, it is simple and yummy
I cook Japanese once a week and all is copy from your receipts
My hubby love it.
you make cooking so simple, I started to enjoying cooking because your teaching
love you a lots
Angel
Congrats on 7 years!!! I love watching your videos and following your adventures everywhere! Your Instagram always makes me hungry! I think it would be neat to see if any of your recipes have changed over the last 7 years, i.e. a remake of your first posts if you’ve since updated the recipe! Or, recipes from different prefectures but of the same food, like your Okonomiyaki posts.
Thanks for all your hard work over the years! Best of luck with everything!
Congrats on the anniversary! I found your videos and blog when I was searching for Japanese recipes on YouTube.????
Hello my name is Christine Barton. I found your blog from my mom, she is half Japanese and learns more about different recepies from your videos and blogs. I’m living in Nevada currently but I’m from California.
I love reading JOC! I love cooking Japanese food (and because my nearest Japanese restaurant is over 2hrs away from me) and JOC has the best recipes, inspo and videos to further my Japanese culinary adventure!! I would love to see some more quick weeknight dinner meals!!
New to your blog. I saw your post from a friend on Instagram. Your blog is well put together. I plan on trying some of your recipes. Congrats on 7 years!
I like seeing your videos and tried making some of your recipes too.
Konnichiwa Nami and Mr JOC
I have followed your blog for more than a year and the thing that has caught my attention is that your cooking is more Japanese rather than just a general Asian cooking/baking. My advice to you:
Don’t change…keep the Japanese influence on your recipes.
Maybe add more traditional recipes…maybe some easy ones
Some more gluten free ones would be good as I have a gluten free member in my family
Add some more hotpot inspired dishes as well?
You videos are an excellent source to use on cooking in addition to all the pics you have and the recipe itself.
Keep up the awesome work!!
I love JOC! My mother is Japanese and I was raised on Japanese food so I love your recipes. I would like to see more recipes, with natto and shirataki.
I love the variety in your recipes, however it would be quite interesting if you chose some specific types of food, and started doing more in depth, multi episode recipes.
I would love to see more videos exploring Asian grocery stores and identifying different ingredients. Or even an impromptu shopping trip where whatever is fresh or catches your eye becomes your shopping plan and you show us how to pick ingredients for the recipe. I go to Asian markets a lot but sometimes it’s overwhelming with all the things I’ve never seen!
Love your work. My Pork Miso Ramen has been my family’s comfort food since I learned how to do it right from your blog. Thanks!
Thanks for having this generous giveaways so that I get to participate! My eyes literally open widely when I saw you’re giving away instant pot. This is because I truly love love love your cooking, love love love your recipes! Have been following your blog and videos for quite sometime especially when I first started learning about Japanese dishes and cooking. I have major love for Japanese food. And through your blog and your descriptions, you’ve make things easier and simpler to follow. A few awesome feedbacks will to name will be 1. You provide details description on the steps making it easier for first timer to learn to cook who are really amateurs to the kitchen. 2. you steps for each cooking is really simplified and not complicated thus easy to understand. Even if it is complicated, there is video to watch and learn without getting blur or confuse. 3. You provide alternatives to ingredient especially for people living in different country who do not have the access to the type of inhredient that you’ve mentioned. Some suggestions to improve will be 1. More quick fix meal for busy people who are always in a rush especially for dinner. 2. More meals recipes which do not require a lot of ingredients. 3. More tabs in the blog so that it will be easier when we search for the recipe if we do not know the name of the dish. 4. Recipes using healthy superfood like quinoa so that it will be more for elderly. 5. Blogs with tabs to cater for different catergories such as different aged group and lifestyle.
However I’d like to mention that your blog has already be awesome currently. Your recipes have been major loved by me and my boyfriend.
Thank you so much.
I was really excited when I first came across this blog a few years ago! It’s taught me so many different things about Japanese cooking and presentation. One of my favorite things to do over the weekend is to try a new recipe (usually from JOC)! Would love to see more Japanese home-style recipes in the future!
I have followed you on and off for over 4 years now. It wasnt until more recently that i was brave enough to try the recipes you had posted. Having never tasted many of the dishes, i was scared they wouldnt taste good, much less the same way yours would. But i am SO glad that i took the leap of faith in myself and in your recipes. It not only has helped me add more dishes to my kitchen “resume”, but it definitely gives me a lot more confidence in the kitchen. I would love to see more family style meals; more dishes for a busy family/couple. Thank you for always posting, and replying to my comments/posts. I look forward to trying many more of your recipes!!
Also, CONGRATULATIONS on the 7 years!
Entered!
Hi Nami & Mr JOC,
Thanks so much for sharing your fantastic recipes with us. I moved away from home this year and I’m missing homecooked asian food so much. I’ve been trying out your recipes and having so much fun making them and eating delicious meals.
For a suggestion, I’d love to see more video tutorials for all the recipes. I know they take much longer to make, but the way you guys film them is incredibly beautiful and just wants to get me in the kitchen!
Thanks!
-Annie
As a Sansei living away from my family and married to a Caucasian, I am so happy to connect to my cultural roots. I enjoy not only your recipes but also your travel pictures. Please continue to recommend tools and equipment. I love my Instant Pot, purchased because of your descriptions and recipes. I also like your balance of Japanese foods and other cuisines.
Your blog and recipes are very clear and easy to learn. Love it!

Hi Nami!
Congratulations on 7th year! I’ve been a fan for the past two years. Your video quality are by far one of the best, and the background music compliments very well to what you are doing, and I love how you are showing more of your pretty face in your newer videos now! Continue to inspire us, newbie chefs and professionals, with your delicious asian recipes! I hope you can branch out to more Thai, Indian, and Southeast Asian recipes in the future as well as Japanese, we are always curious to learn different dishes. Asian food is so diversified culture to culture and intruiguing, there’s so much to explore! 🙂
Thank you for your continued inspirations and for making cooking so delightfully fun. Wish you continued years of success and congratulations!
Best regards,

I so enjoy reading your blog!
Love the videos. Recipes are not to complex.
I’d love to win the instant pot!!!
I love all of your recipes and videos! They have been so amazing and I still have a bunch to try. I’m always looking for more easy ground turkey recipes.
Your recipes are wonderful 🙂
I like how the instructions are really clear and easy to follow. The pictures really help too! It would be great if there’s a app for accessing the recipes. I currently add what I like to Evernote.
Hi Nami! I’m Yuki and I moved from Okinawa to South Dakota last year (this is actually my first time living in the states!) with my husband who is currently stationed here with the Air Force. It’s kind of hard to find Japanese food out here so it’s been really helpful looking at your blog/videos! I’ve used a lot of your recipes and my husband has been loving it! Thank you for all that you do????
I started following your blog recently for your simple and delicious Japanese recipes. I’m from Toronto.
Hi! I’ve been following you for quite some tike, I LOVE your blog and recipes, and glimpses into Japanese culture. Maybe even more clips about life in Japan and such for us who have to live vicariously? Keep up the good work, and thank you!
I seldom read your blog but I do drop by from time to time and binge read without commenting – guilty, I know.. Sorry! I’m more of a IG and YouTube person when I watch your videos and simply enjoy your pictures. I’m from NYC and I recently traveled to Japan and I absolutely love it! I tried to follow some of your suggested places to visit and I’m glad I followed. My sister and I highly enjoyed Japan and can’t wait to go visit back there and explore more! Thank you for the continuous devotion on uploading videos and making me salivating. I haven’t fully master a dish yet but I hope so one day!
Love your recipes, I found your recipes off of Pintrest and you are my go to for Japanese recipes. My favorites are the sukiyaki and oyako donburi.
Love your elegant way to cook! YOu are my role model!
I came across your blog while searching for recipes of Japanese desserts to make in my little NYC kitchen. As a novice with cooking, thank your for sharing recipes with clear steps, pictures and/or videos!
From Facebook. 🙂
Found your blog when I was searching for a milk pudding recipe! Turned out great, thanks!
Hi Nami,
I’m located in LA and I recently received an IP and spent quite some time researching successful recipes or dishes that simply looked amazing and came across your blog/youtube channel. I’ve since tried a couple of your dishes and they have been amazing!! I just came back from the grocery store with ingredients to cook up another one of your dishes which I know will be a hit! I hope that you’ll come out with a cook book!! <3
Thank you for all your hard work! I first learned of JOC when I bought your e-book back in 2014. Time has flown by!
I’ve really enjoyed trying out your recipes. I look forward to more… especially quick and simple ones that I can make for work. Japan travels tips and ideas are also great. I try to visit Japan once every two to three years and love learning about new attractions, shops, etc…
Hello, from New York! I love your blog and recipes! I find your videos very easy to follow. My only suggestion is MORE recipes! <3
Thank you for helping inspire us to get back to my Japanese roots with cooking! Your recipes remind me so much of the delicious foods my Oba and Oji used to make ❤️Thank you so much!!!
I absolutely adore your recipes. Videos don’t exite me as much, but yours are high quality either ways. What would be interesting to see are maybe your day to day struggles with selecting a menu, pre-planning a meal-week, or even “quick wins” you use in moments you do not want to Cook.
Please continue the awesome Work!
I LOVE JUST ONE COOKBOOK BLOG! Nami, your recipes are delicious and easy to follow. Japanese cooking has always been my favorite and since finding your blog you’ve helped me grow as a cook. I just recently got an IP and I would love to see more recipes for pressure cooking. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us!
Your blog is wonderful! The recipies and otherwise. Thanks for sharing with the world!
Love the simple recipes and home style food.
I just subscribed to your newsletter! I have been following your facebook page! Your recipes are amazing and very inspirational! I took your advice and purchased an instant pot and I am loving it! It makes cooking alot easier.
I am from New York City. I found your blog a few years ago when I was googling recipes and your page popped up for many recipes I was looking for. I have used many of the recipes that you’ve posted and my family loves them.
Love the receipt and tried a few already. Absolute fabulous outcome.
Hi Nami, thank you for sharing many delicious Japanese food recipes with us. They are simple to follow. Made Japanese beef bowls for my family and they loved it!
I’m new to your website. I found you on YouTube and I love watching your videos. I made a few of your recipes. You make it easy to learn how to cook.
Thank you for all the great recipes that you post and no suggestions.. everything is perfect! Love following your blog!
The videos are awesome as it shows the step and consistency of the food.
I love your blog and videos! Although I grew up eating Japanese/Okinawan foods, I didn’t always pay attention to the way my mom, Obaachans, and aunties prepared it, so I have missed out on making many wonderful foods for my family. Through your step-by-step instructions, I have been able to recreate so many of my favorite dishes and share them with my family. Thank you, Nami and Mr. JOC!
Hi Nami! Thank you for sharing your recipes with us! I would like to have more ideas about instant pot recipes since I have tried your chicken and daikon recipe and it was delicious and easy to make! My fiancé loved it! And Happy 7 years JOC 😉
Congrats for your 7 yrs!! I love all of your recipes. Your recipes never fail!! Thank you always for sharing. Your recipes are always easy to follow and your posts are always easy to understand each steps. Thanks Nami!!
Love to see your post on FB everyday and love the recipes, I don’t think there is anything that needs changing. Keep up the great work!
Hi, my mom actually directed me to your Facebook page. I have enjoyed watching your videos and trying them out for myself. I actually got an instant pot due to your Facebook promotions of them, so thank you very much for that!
I subscribed. I love your how-to videos & recipes! Thank you!
I love your blog. I discovered it about 2 years ago when I just started getting interested in Japanese cooking and I found your recipes most appealing to a beginner like me. Favourite recipe (and first thing tried making) kaarage.
Love your recipes! I have tried a few! Wouldn’t suggest you change a thing. ????
Btw, I looked for the cold brew coffee maker when I was in Japan… no one knew ehat I was talking about. Where can you get that from?
I love your blog and it helps me on a weekly basis when I can’t call my mom in Japan for cooking tips because of the time difference lol. I think you guys are doing great!
I’ve done a tons of your recipes and I cried tears of blood every time I see one with ingredients I can’t find around here (Quebec). I want to try them all and become so good at it that even my vietnamese friend will hesitate between my food and his mother’s! (Who am I kidding… lol). You are my numer one go to for recipes, so much so that my friends are tagged in almost every post you do lol. Thank you for your blog and pleaaaaase don’t stop the amazing work you are doing!!!
Greetings fr Singapore!
Love your recipes and your step by step instructions! Definitely my go to when i need inspiration to cook for my husband and a 2 yr old princess. May there be many 7 years for Just One Cook Book! 🙂
You are doing a fantastic job! I honestly can’t think of how you might improve your website; but maybe some more seasonal dishes? I always look forward to those. Congratulations on 7 great years!
Congratulations and Happy Anniversay, JOC!! Thanks for all the quality posts you share to your subscribers. We trully appreciate all the efforts you put into every post, photo, or video. I’m still looking forward to another Q&A and more VLOgS. And to be honest, i also hope to win the instant pot!! Again, congrats and all the best wishes for your team!!
Hello! I am new to your blog, but I have seen your videos around Facebook and have always loved them! I am from California.
I look forward to more videos from you that I can make for my roommate and myself now that I am properly subscribed!
Love receiving your updates via email! I look forward to them!
Hi Nami! I’m from Singapore! Chanced upon your page on fb 2 years ago and have been following since as I got married and my husband loves all things Japanese! Your recipes are simple to follow and often gave me ideas and made it easy when it comes to weekend home dinners 🙂 i love your beautiful plating as I can be quite a mess when I do that. I hope to improve over time ????
Well I hope to have a chance to win the instant pot as I found it amazing but my husband laments we have quite a few pots that we bought when we moved in. So I’m hoping to win one so he doesn’t have any objections ????
Here’s wishing JOC 7 years of great recipes and many more to come ????
I love your blog/videos since they are easy to follow. But I do notice that you repeat some of FB posts. Sometimes, it’s a good reminder about what you had done. But, I wish you would have more new vids. I know it’s not easy to edit videos. Also, it’s not easy to come up with recipes. Would you do more “ordinary” Japanese dishes? Thanks!
I love your blog! I have tried several recipes. I have made the Japanese cheesecake several times and everyone raves about it. Please just keep continuing your blog and providing great recipes and stories. Wishing you much continued success for the future.
Hi Nami,
I am a Malaysian Chinese living in Virginia and have been following your work for a year. You and Mr JOC definitely make good quality videos. I truly appreciate your Japanese recipes. I would love to buy a hardcopy of your cookbook in the future, especially in Japanese cuisine. I hope this is part of your plan! Most Japanese cookbooks in US focus on the traditional (and common) Japanese cuisine but I am sure there is more.
Thanks,
UC
(I am IG and FACEBOOK subscriber of yours but not on your mailing list. I had just tried to sign up but the host site said your mailing list is not currently active.)
Hello from South San Francisco!! I’m fairly new to your blog, but I’ve followed you on Instagram and YouTube! I’ve made several of your recipes, and you’re always my go to for new ideas to try. Your instapot curry is my favorite! And I’ve made it so many times!
Congratulations on 7 years and looking forward to more!
I love watching your videos and trying your recipes. As to suggestions for you, to be honest I already love what you do, your instructions are always clear and having video to see exactly what you do is VERY helpful!
The next recipe of yours I to try is the plum wine, Mapo Tofu and seven herb rice porridge.
My favourite is the Broccolini Gomaae, so yummy!
I haven’t built up the courage to try and make the Chawanmushi yet, but I will!
Thank you for always giving great recipes!
Hi Nami!
I have been following your blog for a while now. My husband and I have been using your recipes to eat more healthily (more “real food” and less processed food), and we have already lost a combined total of 15 lbs since last November!
One suggestion that I humbly offer is to maybe consider a snapshot into what Japanese normally eat every day. I love your culture posts, and I would really enjoy seeing how many families prepare their meals for the week, especially because it’s normal for a meal to contain so many different components. I have trouble finding the time to cook/prepare rice (we don’t have a rice cooker) + miso soup + main dish + 2 side dishes.
Thank you so much for all that you do. My husband and I really appreciate all of the recipes and tips you have given us!
Happy Anniversary. I look forward to reading many more recipes in the near future.
Wonderful blog ! I have been an following your cooking recipes and Facebook for last 5 years! Keep up the good work ! Always enjoy every single episode and my family love ur recipe

Hi. This is Maggie from CA. I have been following you and your blog for a while and I truly enjoy everything! I was an international student in Japan for 3.5 years and your Japanese receipts remind me a lot when the time I was there. Especially those recommendations of how to get the Japanese style tools from different resources, love that! Please continue to provide all the good info of Japanese cooking! I also love your dessert receipts – they are easy and delicious! Amazing. Keep up the good work!
Thanks again. 🙂
I really enjoy your YouTube videos. You make things very straightforward and eat to follow.
Happy Birthday!!! Love, love, love all your videos and blog write-ups on recipes. Best part of it is your recipes are easy to follow to learn from. Only suggestion is that you make more of them ! Thanks for the opportunity to enter in the contest too.
I love your blog and recipes. I’ve tried several and all are turned out delicious. Some more dessert recipes that are not too sweet would be awesome plus quick and easy recipes for dinner would fantastic! I have twin 2 year old boys that love to eat and I feel better about giving them nonsugary desserts I can make for them. I think I have made the Meyer Lemon Chiffon cake like a dozen times in the last few months for my family and as gifts! I plan on trying more recipes in the near future. Next up is Japanese Cheesecake. Keep up the great work! Thank you!
very nice giveaway on your 7th year. Thank you for sharing all your dishes I tried some of it and my girls loves it and their all time fave is Asian coleslaw.

I started following trying to find some easy Japanese recipes that reminded me of my mom’s cooking and came across your website. I love the videos- I think it gives a great sense of the techniques etc that you’d miss just from reading a recipe!! I’m definitely coveting the instant pot for quick/easy dinners…..
I am a current subscriber to your newsletter already. I love your easy to follow recipes and always look forward to new ones. Your videos are beautifully shot!
Love your recipes and videos particularly which I find useful. You were shared by friends on Facebook. Keep the delicious recipes coming and thank you.
Hello! Warm greetings on your 7th anniversary!
I’ve been a fan for years. I’ve enjoyed watching your videos and learning new recipes.
I live in Japan with my family and your recipes have inspired me to make Japanese meals or Japanese-inspired meals and bento for my family. I was also thrilled that you have included a chicken adobo recipe in your blog. Yes, I’m a Filipino and adobo is quintessentially Filipino.
I look forward to seeing recipes on how to make tofu (and tofu products), fresh soba, tonkotsu ramen stock, furikake, fresh ramen noodles, and how to cook with uniquely Japanese ingredients like shirataki, konyaku, yuzu, sake kasu, shio koji , etc. it would also be really interesting to learn more about food-related history and culture and regional specialties especially those least know ones. It would also be exciting to learn snippets of agriculture practices/information as it’s related to food as well , example, how true is it that wagyu cattle are massaged (myth or truth?) , foraging culture , how different are dairy and eggs in Japan etc.
Thank you for your time! And thank you for inspiring all of us to cook and eat well.
More power to you and your blog!
Regards,
Antonette
I really enjoy how easy you make your recipes seem! All my attempts of your recipes especially those with Matcha turn out great.
Japanese cooking is a little intimidating for someone who doesn’t cook. Your recipes are clear, simplified and easy to understand and follow along. I love your cooking videos. It really helps to have a visual to make sure I read the recipe correctly.
I am from New York, USA. I was introduced to this blog by my friend cus I been interested in instant pot recipes. I found some really greay helpful recipes. Thanks.
Hi!
My name is Angel and I’m from Tennessee.
I found you via Pinterest. ????
My Lady loves your recipes and informative videos. She informed me of the contest, so here I am. She really wants the second/third place prize. I would also love for her to get one as well. As I will be the main benefactor of said prize. 😉 Looking forward to passing the prize from you to her, Thanks.
Hi I m from
Singapore. I chanced upon your blog while I was looking for a family itinerary to Japan in 2017. We took a few of your suggestions n route in your family holiday last June to the snow corridor and nearby. From then followed your Facebook. Love your simple recipes.
Hi Nami,
I love your blog. I love looking at your recipes for New Year’s dishes. My favorite to make is the kamaboko with Shiso leaf an d salmon eggs. This dish was a hit in our family! I am so excited when I get your newsletter I never delete them!

Hello,
I’ve been a long time follower of your work. I don’t have much feedback other than keep up the amazing work. I enjoy seeing the ways you are constantly improving your videos, which shows your dedication to your art.
Thanks for all your hard work. You’ve made my time in the kitchen so much better ????

Congratulations on 7 years of success Nami and Mr. JOC! I love how “clean” your videos are; everything seems very organized and it’s clear that you think everything through before filming. About your blog, I appreciate how the recipes are detailed and the images are relevant. Sometimes I can’t check YouTube to see exactly what I should do, but the images on the blog are so specific that I always find my way! It must take a lot of time to film your recipes and write each blog post. Thank you for your hard work! Wishing you many more years of success!
We have found so many wonderful recipes on your blog Namiko, tomorrow night we are having your Stuffed Cabbage Rolls.
Yum!!!
Thank you and Entire JOC Family
Wish me good luck
Hi, I have been a fan of yours for years and witnessed the growth you have on your channel. I loved it! You don’t have to but you try to share as much as you can with all of us, you didn’t have to. I learned that I now admire the perfume you like though I no longer have mine. I believe that you will continue to teach and surprise us in the times ahead or till you get tired. Hope not for a long while.
Since I have fallen in love with everything Japan, I have so enjoyed your blog, your instagram posts and recipes. It helps me get prepared, knowing different foods, for my trip to Japan. Thanks!
Great recipies amazing work keep doing it
Already Subscribed to Your Newsletter!
My only suggestion would be if you could try to show more authentic regional recipes from all over Japan. Im always interested in how different parts of Japanese people eat 🙂
Thank You and Mr. JOC for all your efforts in creating great videos. Love watching you and your wonderful family and love trying out your recipes. Hope you guys can continue doing this for a very long time. Have a great 2018!
– From Vancouver, Canada –
Have been following through FB. Thanks for the recipes!
Congratulations!
Don’t change a thing. I love so many of the recipes you’ve shared!
Happy 7 years anniversary! Thank you for sharing your recipies, cooking tips, your fa,mily photos and your journeys from your travels.
Love ???? all your blogs,
Hi Nami and Mr. JOC,
Congratulations on 7 year! I really enjoy your blog, videos, and instagram. I found your blog through instagram. I saw one of your cooking clips and liked many of your photos which lead me to your blog and youtube channel.
Thank you for your amazing blog!
Julie
I love Japanese food. Thanks for your tutorial!!
I live in Canada and I am originally from Korea. I love to be in my kitchen and Asian cooking is my top priority. I used to sell my Korean food in my community as a fundraser.
I found your facebook page last year when I was trying Katsu recipe and I am more than happy to follow your page! I have been buying some of Japanese must buy items for my pantry and trying your recipe. It is awesome experience!
My suggestion for your facebook page (since I use facebook more often than other social media) is like these.
1. I would love to see new recipes or ideas rather than many same repeated posting. For example if you post 5 postings a day, maybe at least couple of them can be new idea or new recipe?
2. What about limited postings a day. I think 3 or 4 would be ok. Because fb users might just scroll down when they see many same type of postings a day. I have a business page on fb. I don’t post more than 2 a day so that customer can think our news are FRESH then they will keep following us.
3. I would like to know your recipe table or map(does it make sense?) so that I can find your recipe easily
4. Participate more readers on fb comment. Contest or question and answer so that more people world wide know about your page and follow you.
Thank you for your time to read my suggestion. All the best!

I’ve been a subscriber for years
I love Japanese food. Your recipes are easy to follow.
Hello, I am from Peru. I love your videos. I got obsessed with them when a friend tagged me on a japanese cheseecake video. I think you blog is pretty complete I especially like the search option and the tips and variations you mention in the recipes… Happy 7th anniversary!!! 🙂
Hi,I’m Endriyas from Indonesia 🙂
I know your blog from 3 or 4 years ago from google about japanese blog recipe. I love your blog, but usually i’m just lurking and stalking your blog almost everyday!!
I love all recipe and travel post in your blog especially your homemade curry :).But the most important is you always give step by step picture in your post so its easy for me to understand n make you different from other blog.
So, i hope you give more your diy, homemade recipe because in here Indonesia difficult to find japanese ingredient futhermore my city is not big city so its really really difficult to find japanese ingredient.
Thank you always for your post n sorry about my english. 🙂
We love your recipes! Its are go to place to look for things to make. As for suggestions, that is a hard one. Your recipes are pretty well laid out. The only thing I can think of is maybe where possible modifications like sugar reductions or carb replacements.
First off, love your blog! It’s my go-to for any time I need to look up a Japanese recipe.
I really enjoyed when you shared all of the different new year’s recipes leading up to the holiday, so my suggestion would be to have more themed recipes like that! Could be traditional foods served at holidays posted when they’re coming up or other themes like recipes from a certain region of Japan all posted near one another. They were really informative and I enjoyed learning about the history/origins of the foods!
Happy anniversary!
Been following on FB. Recipes are delicious.
Your website has ignite my desire to prepare fleshly made food while demystify ingredients used in Japanese cooking. It’s fun to replicate at home. I really enjoy your videos and travel tips to Japan.
Congratulations!!! Happy 7th birthday JOP!!!
Hello, i am from France and i am addicted to your blog! I discovered it through facebook a short while ago and it has been such an inspiration 🙂 i would love to see a post on a full typical japanese meal (starters if there is any, main and dessert ) and thank you so much for posting about your travels, it gives me so many ideas on where to go on vacation. Ganbatte !
Hi 🙂 I visited your blog for the first time when I was looking up ramen recipes sometime last year. I kept coming back to look at your pictures but never had the time to make the dishes. I’d like to see more seasoning recipes, like how do you make something taste like mirin if you don’t have mirin at home. Thanks and I love your recipes and pictures!
Congratulations!!! Happy 7th birthday JOC!
Hi,
I have been reading your blog for a few years now but my comment is about your facebook page. Although I really enjoy your videos, sometimes I get frustrated from many repetitive videos.
Thanks
Sanaz
I’m a huge fan, and I find the videos inspiring. My husband is the cook, and he made the ramen egg based on your instructions – they came out SO delicious! Next on our list (or perhaps I should say, his list) is to make dashi.
Congratulations on your anniversary! We enjoy your blog and recipes very much.
I was thrilled to find your blog when I was looking for some Japanese recipes. I love the recipes… especially the Soba Noodle Salad, Chicken Karaage, Japanese Rolled Cabbage, and Katsu Sandwich.
I love your blog and religiously watch your videos. More easy recipes for busy moms please
Love your step by step directions!!!
Hi JOC! I lovee your blog so much. It’s my number one website for cooking recipes. I’m a Singaporean lady living in the USA. When I moved to Atlanta in 2015, I relied on your recipes to cook delicious meals for my husband! He loves Japanese food. I don’t have any negative feedback for you, so here’s some positive feedback! I love that you give small tidbits of information besides cooking, such as how to cut/chop/dice in different ways, and information about japanese products (like which dashi to buy). These little tidbits of information are super helpful for a newbie like me! Thanks for doing what you do!
I love your site/blog and recipes. Even though i live in the US, i can go to 1 or 2 Asian market that we have and find the ingredients. Do you live in the US? If so, maybe for certain ingredients, suggest some other ingredient just in case non Asian people don’t know what that Asian ingredient is? Keep up the good work and i love how you gave your own twist with chicken adobo under the broiler 🙂
I found your blog through a post from Seonkyoung Longest on IG.
I love your recipes. It would be nice to see work night quickly made recipes when you don’t have a lot of time to prep, but have a hungry family to feed.
Hi I’m Endriyas from Indonesia 🙂
I know your blog 3 or 4 years ago from google about japanese blog recipe.
I usually just lurking and stalking your blog almost everyday!!!
I love all your recipe and travel post especially your homemade curry. :). And the most important thing is you always give step by step picture so its make me easy to understand and make big difference with other blog.
So I hope you post more your diy, homemade recipe because here in Indonesia is difficult to find japanese ingredient futhermore in my city is not big city so its really really hard to find japanese ingredient.
Thank you n sorry for my english and long rant. 🙂
Not sure how you can improve (my cooking has improved). Keep up the tasty and inspiring dishes. Ok- now I’m hungry. ????
I really like things the way they are. I know any improvements you make will be positive! I enjoy the recipes and the giveaways.
It seems like you have so much data on each of your recipes already, but I am wondering if we can do something where we input the ingredients we have, and it suggests what we can make or where we are just missing 1-2 ingredients.
As people become better cooks, I think they automatically know what kind of food they can make with leftovers from other recipes, (“what can I do with half a daikon and some renkon?”) But as beginning cooks, people end up buying enough for one recipe and they have a bunch of leftover raw ingredients that will go to waste. I think the appeal of Blue Apron and other food providers is that they provide the exact amount required and people don’t feel wasteful.
Anyways! Since you have all the data already, I’d love to be able to quickly find meals I can cook that day and also filter by prep time / cook time.
Im been following you in intagram, facebook and YouTube…that’s why i seen this blog, your recipes are great..hope to win…????
I have always had an interest in from scratch Japanese cooking and your site is a much better source that any book I have bought. Thanks for having such a great site!
Thanks for sharing great recipes. I truly thanksful that I can make authentic Japanese food/sweets in Australia!
Enjoying every post you made! Your recepies are so easy to follow and never fail me! Love em all!
Thank you for the inspirations to me on preparing my family with all these lovely and delicious meal!!!
Sincerely,
Nor
Dear Nami, I’m from Australia and have been checkinb out your recipes ocassionally. One of your recipe that I used the most is Gyudon. It’s so simple to make and my kids love it! I’m a working mum with 2 primary school age kids. Simple and quick cooking is a must. For video, please add the ingredient measurement on the screen. That’s saving extra step to go to site to get the list ????
I hope to win Instantpot, it’s not available in Australia yet ????
I enjoy your blog very much. The only suggestions I might make are to show more Japanese utensils & how they’re used. Maybe info on Japanese culture. I’ve been subscribed for a couple years & enjoy your recipes & reading your blog. Thanks for all you do & congratulations on your anniversary.
I found you through Seonkyoung Longest!
To JOC couple,
Long time reader here, just subscribed! I used to collect many different Japanese cook books and recipes, but I’ve found all my favorite dishes faithfully reproduced and described on your site and haven’t touched these books in months. I love the pictures, context of the dishes, the clear instructions and the small little tips that take dishes to the next level. Omeddeto this year and I look forward to seeing both classic Japanese and new recipes in 2018
Hi, I love your recipes and blog! I haven’t been following you long enough or made a lot of your recipes, but I’m looking forward to it!
One of my suggestions would be for your blog – there is a ton of clutter on your blog, due to the ads on the side of the screen as well as on the bottom. It distracts people from reading your awesome blog/recipes!
Keep up the great work and congrats! 🙂
I think i visit your blog site almost everyday, keeping your recipes open in my browser to read and reread. thank you for making a great site, that teaches me new flavors and ways of cooking. whelana10@gmail.com
Having lived in Japan for 2 years, I really love your recipes! Very easy to follow . I look forward to continuing to get your newsletter!
Love your work and your blogs! Well done!
Nani, I’ve come to like your website since goggling for Earl Grey Chiffon. I’ve tried many, but yours is the best. Ever since then, I’ve only used your receipe.
I’ve always enjoyed coming back to JOC for Jap homecook recipes! The recipes are usually really easy & simple to follow, it feels less daunting & gives me confidence to try whipping up dishes that would usually look Jap-restaurant worthy. I like that there are videos to refer to, especially when it requires a specific/authenticJap cooking/preparation method that I won’t have insights to, having only been cooking chinese dishes. Keep the recipes flowing!
Hello Nami, I found your website like a year ago and really love it. As a student, I rarely have time to prepare a fancy meal, I’d really love to see more simple, fast but delicious recipes from you as I’m a big japanese/asian food fan!
Keep up the great work <3 <3 <3
Nothing. I like them the way they are!
Thank you for your blog. I purchased an Instant Pot last year and am always looking for cooking tips for it.
I’ve been subscribed to your jews letter for about 3 or 4 years, Have always enjoyed your recipes and posts. Congrats on seven years.
I love JOC! 🙂
I recently moved as an international student in Japan, and your blog made it really easy for me to appreciate Japanese cooking. Since I will be back in my home country in three years’ time, I would still love cook these yummy dishes!
My suggestion is to probably put what are the possible substitutes to some of the ingredients, if it is not available. This will definitely be helpful.
More power to you, Nami and Mr. JOC!
My son in law has introduced me to Pan Asian home cooking and your website. Love it!
Michelle from St Louis, Missouri
Hi Nami! As you know we love your blog! We have made so many recipes that our family has asked for more.
Your blog is very user-friendly because you give a lot step-bystep- instructions which makes it easy to follow. Your blog is also great because it introduces ingredients and method that may not be familiar to those that are not Japanese. I would love to see more local unique Japan recipes or recipes that you cook for your kids, for people with busy schedules and students. This can allow us to cook more Japanese food on a daily basis.
Happy 7 years Anniversary! These are some Awesome giveaways. Always enjoy all of Mr. JOC videos and recipes. I really hope I win! Good Luck to All!
I absolutely adore Just One Cookbook!
I love your cooking, I have learned a lot from your cooking methods, especially helpful during meal preps.
I enjoy the simplicity of your recipes and the way you edit your videos. I live in Hawaii and there is a strong Asian influence in the food. Your pantry staples and tools have been very helpful.
I love your recipes but I mostly see them by following your facebook page.
About the videos, maybe spend less time on describing the ingredients or make them more like tasty’s videos?
I come to your website first every time for Japanese recipes! If you could include more descriptions of the specific Japanese products that we’d need to find in an Asian grocery store, that would be great. Especially how to pronounce the name, sometimes I need to ask an employee for help finding something!
Hi,
I like the way how you organize your blog by ingredients, meals type, etc. I also like how you have step by step pictures for your recipes. Please add more instant pot recipes. Thank you for sharing your recipes.
I always love your recipe! Especially those cooking using instant pot!
I haven’t watched any of your videos but I come here for all my Japanese recipes. My mother is Japanese and never taught me to cook and I crave all the stuff she did cook. Your website brings all that to reality for me. I have made the Japanese beef curry, Japanese potato salad, Japanese strawberry shortcake, and creamy crab koroke (not the exact title for your recipes). I also enjoyed seeing you travel to Okinawa… another child hood memory and I hope to visit soon. Thank you for doing what you do.
julie
Love your videos and Facebook posts! Wished I could get some of the ingredients here though… but always so inspiring and I will make the recipes for those ingredients that I can find… keep it up and thank you! I am always forwarding your posts to like-minded friends who need inspiration. Thank you for making our meals tastier!
I love your blog and have made several of your recipes!
I absolutely LOVE the recipes you share. I am half Japanese and my beautiful Japanese mother (the most amazing cook I’ve ever known) is long gone. I have such a desire now to cook these wonderful recipes and you are my go-to for everything authentic! <3 Thank you from my heart for sharing with us all!
First off Nami, I LOVE your blog. I especially love seeing all your content on Facebook video and YouTube video. It is always such a great help. I would really love it if you can release a new updated cookbook for my collection.
I also think if you have a section of all your favorite brands you like to use for your food items and ingredients would be amazing. Maybe a blog of all the different soy sauces because every time I go to the market I get so confused on which soy sauce to buy etc. so many choices!
I also love your donabe and instant pot recipes and use those quite often. The photos you take for your food are beautiful..
I think the more you focus on just Japanese home cooking – things your mother and grandmother makes and what your kids love growing up is the best route. I love eating good where it create nostalgia and happy memories with family and friends at the dining table. Even the most smallest recipes just brings back memories which I really love.
What about a meal plan series? Where you have all ingredients we need to buy on one grocery trip and then meal plan for the week? For healthy meals that we can make that’s authentic and easy for everyone to prepare at one go?
Would love to win the knife!! Ahh!!
Thank you for sharing all your recipes. They’re so detail and also so yummy. Can’t wait to try more recipes.
Thanks for your wonderful blog Nami and partner. Every time I see an update in my inbox I can’t help but click on it straight away to browse through the new recipies and ideas. I love your YouTube clips as they are super clear and simple to follow. I also love the way you stay true to authentic Japanese cooking while making it easy for western cooks to understand! I always go to your sukiyaki and udon recipies. ありがとうございます????
I like how simple and easy your videos and how on the pages of you recipes you add some history and information about the recipe. I can’t think of any suggestion except for to keep making more good recipes.

Hi, first of all Happy 7th year Anniversary of your blog. I wish more and more years to celebrate ???? I came across with your blog from a facebook post. Someone had share your recipes. My name is Sheila, I’m originally from Indonesia, but now living in Torrance, California. 🙂
Love your blog and photos! I’ve tried many of your recipes and they never disappoint! Would love to see even more instantpot recipes and quick meal ideas! Perhaps also some recipes that are only 4 or 5 ingredients only? Thant might be neat. Thanks again!
I have been following you for about a year now(mostly through web searches).I quite enjoy your recipes, most notably the fact that meals don’t have to be huge. The flavors always hit me as immense, and that is in a good sense.By following your recipes too I have expanded the different foods I eat.Thank-you for showing me a new world of food!
Hello, I found your video because a friend of mine shared it on their facebook page. I’m from Los Angeles but currently lives in Las Vegas!
Thank Nami & Mr. JOC and the JOC team for all the hard work. Love the recipes, videos, travel info, movie/tv drama suggestions, etc. Looking forward to many more years of JOC entries. ❤️????
My only feedback is more recipes! I guess I’m especially interested in every day Japanese cooking-I can find recipes for takeout staples anywhere online. But for less well known foods, it’s nice to have a source I trust (for example, loved the series on New Years Foods). Thanks for all the hard work!
Hi Nami!
I am 1 generation with limited Japanese language, but love to eat Japanese food. I was so excited to find your blog about Japanese recipes in ENGLISH! and so well done with lots of background information, important details and beautiful photos and videos that help me make the dishes. My feedback would be that it sometimes takes a very long time to load your page on my mobile devices. I look forward to future recipes and videos.
Love your blog – congratulations on 7 years! As I moved out of my parents’ home not too long ago, I miss having my mum’s home-cooked meals often. Many of her recipes are in Japanese, but as I can’t read the language, it’s hard to know how to recreate some of my favorite comfort food. I came across your blog through some Google searches, and it quickly became a favorite! I’ve used your recipes for ozoni, soboro-don, and mapo tofu so far. I’m sure I’ll use more in the future!
Your blog is great! I’ve used many of your recipes and they all turned out wonderfully. Thank you!!
Congratulations on 7 years! I’m so glad I discovered your blog! Your green tea ice cream has become a favorite with my friends, family, and colleagues!
I don’t really have any suggestions – I almost never watch videos, but I do love the blog.
I love your blog. My friend and I have been learning Japanese, and I love to learn more about the culture of Japan (one aspect of the culture being food). I frequently use your recipes to make food for my family and friends. Thank you for all the hard work you put into it.

Lyly
I really like JOC very much. I am an South African who has recently visited Japan for the first time. I was so impressed with the Japanese culture and cuisine that I challenged myself to start cooking my favorite Japanese meals and JOC helps me a lot. Al that I really need now is the ultimate INSTANT POT.
Zeta (from Africa)
Found your Japanese curry pressure cooker recipe on Facebook and couldn’t be happier! I made it with pork and was so pleased at how it turned out without me tending it on the stove. I lived a few years in Japan and have always wanted to incorporate more Japanese recipes in my cooking.
I learned about this blog for 2yrs so guess I am pretty new! I like the recipes not being too hard to follow and a lot of family style dishes. I would like more about lunch box ideas, in both recipes and layout/display designs! Also topic like Japanese meal plan for a week which can be prepared over the weekend. These are especially useful for busy moms. I love this blog so much, so please keep writing!
I love JOC because your recipes are easy to follow and most importantly delicious! Thank you for sharing so much about food, Japanese culture and your family with us!
I found JOC after a friend make dinner for me using your recipes and follow your Instagram and blog. Lots of video tutorials and photos make it easy to attempt. Thank you JOC for making my home in Hawaii much more delicious 🙂
HI Nami, Love your blog and videos!!!
I have been using your recipes to prepare Japanese food at home and they are so delicious,
Two suggestions I had in mind is
1) anyway you could develop an app for your website? That way would be easier for us to use 🙂
2) anyway you could teach us more about how to prepare sashimi at home?
Thanks a lot,
Jessica
Love your blog, please post more Japanese instant pot recipes.
Hi, I’m from Australia, love your blog. My husband and I always love Japanese food so I have tried a few recipes from your blog/youtube channel and they were great. I just wanted to thank you so much for having this blog! There have been many times in the past before I found JOC where I couldn’t find a good Japanese recipe in Imperial measurements, and you’ve helped me so much. My family enjoys the dishes I make using your recipes (a favorite is the Yoshinoya Beef Bowl, though the Teriyaki Salmon was also very well received)! Your videos, clear pictures, and concise instructions have definitely helped me make these dishes close to the way you make yours, even for a novice in the kitchen.
The descriptions and history of the dishes really encourages me to want to make all of them! Thank you for your constant updates and wonderful recipes.
I remember finding your blog when I was looking up Japanese recipes on both Youtube and Google! As for suggestions, even though this is a Japanese cooking blog, I would love to see more blog posts about other Japanese things you think people would be interested in, like traditions you celebrate or stories about your life in Japan… or not haha 🙂
Again, thank you so much!
Silver_112099@hotmail.com
Sacramento, from Facebook that’s how I heard about your blog.
I really like your videos and appreciate your work as a way to share our culture in an easy way. Making it accessible to all.
It would be cool to see Milk allergy friendly deserts and other things. But, I am definitely a niche audience. ✊️????
FINALLY a WORLDWIDE giveaway!! Yes, I’m IN!
What more comments to give to your blogs/facebook and more (totally forgot in my first comment)?
Nothing but more of the good stuff really. It’s all there, the self explanatory videos, the write ups (also containing metric sizes, YAY!).
Your blog is actually one of the few that caters for foreign readers for ingredients also. Being Japanese in the US you know not all things are locally available and that point of view is very clear in your recipes, love it!
Thanks for the easy-to-follow recipes and greats videos!
Love your website, recipes and videos! Keep up the great work!
Hi JOC Team,
Happy Anniversary!!
This blog is totally awesome, especially the videos! More videos or step-by-step photos will be extremely helpful 🙂
I made your matcha roll cake for Christmas dinner dessert. I added red bean paste to the filling and it was a hit. I would like to know about more Japanese-type desserts? Yaki manju?

I love your recipes, some of them are easy to follow. Mu suggestion is to make more of easy 30mins recipes and to include where we can get the ingredients especialy if they’re oriental/asian recipes. I also love your Instant pot recipes!
Hi! Im from the Netherlands and been following you on Instagram for a while now! Don’t have much feedback other than continue another 7 years!
You guys have an awesome blog. I love reading the recipes and watching your videos because everything is explained so well and the recipes are so approachable. I honestly don’t have any recommendations right now. 🙂
I’ve been reading your blog for a few years now, and I really like your videos and recipe. I hope to see more simple and fuss free recipes, especially ones using the Instant Pot. Thank you.
Love your blog and easy to follow videoes! I’m not much for following recipes but JOC seems to be a great go to as a guide. Thank you for being around for 7 years and hoping for many more years to come!

Hi Nami-san,
I’m a reader from Singapore and I have been using your recipes whenever I crave for Japanese food. I especially love your low-calorie recipes as I am on a diet, and they are just so delicious. Of course, I’ve tried out other recipes and loved them too.
Thank you so much for all recipes and I hope that you’ll come up with more delicious low-calorie recipes in future!

Looking forward to many more recipes this year, yammm 🙂
I tried your Melon Pan recipe about 2 weeks ago & they were absolutely amazing. They tasted just like the ones in Japan. Now here’s my request. I’d love it if you came up with a chanpon recipe! I’ve been craving it recently 🙂
Thank you to the entire JOC team for all the great content you guys put out there. I would love to see a in 15 minutes series or something and recipes for instapot! Super curious if you use instapot for Japanese recipes.
I enjoy your blog, because I appreciate that you are Japanese from Japan! There are too many recipes out there that are not authentic. I really like seeing your posts that detail your trips, complete with photos. Thank you!
Hi! I appreciate the historical background and other information you provide with your recipes, as my mom probably doesn’t even know the history even if she were the type of person to share that with me!
One thing is that I often save recipes to a note platform, and I appreciate when blogs provide to sets of instructions, with and without step by step pictures
I love your recipes and blog! You are my go to source for washoku! The videos are wonderful and I don’t have much criticism on that. Under the recipes tab, I wish it was easier to find and see recipes. No good ideas that I can think of, but that she te only area I can think of room for improvement. Thanks for this wonderful blog!
I enjoy your recipes. I’m glad for a place to start learning how to make Japanese food for my food cart guests. Thanks
I honestly love everything you post. I can’t really say what else I would like to see because you open my eyes to so many different things as it is, though one can never have too many matcha recipes haha.
Hello! I found your blog about a month ago looking for instant pot recipes, but stayed for your great Japanese recipes. I’m from Vancouver, Canada. Love your blog! Keep up the great work!
Love that you are keeping Japanese Legacy cooking alive! My 91 year old mother is so impressed when I use your recipes! We love buta kakuni, okonomiyaki, gyu-don – everything!
Here’s my request – could you make motsunabe & post it on your blog? Thank you for a great website. I enjoy it every day!
Gochisosama!
Also – akemashita omedeto gozaimasu!
We are a military family and have been stationed in Japan twice. I loved the food and missed it so much I wanted to learn to make it myself. That’s how I found your site (searching for Japanese recipes), and I really love it! Thanks for your hard work!
I am so happy to stumble upon this site. I love Japanese food and I’m trying to cook at home. Your recipes and videos really helped! Especially loves the Japanese desserts section
Hello Nami.. happy new year 2018 to u and your fam. I’m from Indonesia and I’m not a new subscriber. I love your blog, love to read recipes and see videos that you’d post. Try them in my kitchen of course.. i hope in this year 2018 your blog still be the best blog that everybody loves to wait and see..
I would love to see more soups…i love soup! Im from washington and i stumbled on your youtube channel when i was looking for a japanese cheesecake recipe!
Congratulations on your 7th Anniversary! Wishing you all the best and more! I love your posts, videos and recipes. I like how, through your videos, you make it possible for me (and your readers) to recreate the dish you feature. Thank you for sharing your recipes and empowering me to attempt making your delicious Japanese dishes! Your videos are so perfectly presented! Amazing!
Nami,
I’m so foolish! I’ve read some of your blogs before and you’ve always mentioned Mr. JOC. and somehow I began to think that your huband’s name is JOC. LOL!!!
Today, I just realized it is Just One Cookbook. So funny!
I love all your cookings and your art of cooking. I understand that is the Japanese way of doing so. I don’t have much suggestions but to keep up the good work!
I would love to see a fusion of American foods with your art also more Instant pot recipes!
Thank you and Happy 7th anniversary! Keep up the good work!
I love the work you put into the photographer of the food. It makes everything look so delicious and beautiful. I’m more likely to try a recipe when it looks beautiful negater a lot of love and effort went into it. I’m more wary of a recipe if the presentation of the food is sloppy or haphazard.
I love your blog! I followed the Step-by-step video on fb every day and set JOC to “show on top” on my fb feed. The quality of the video is also impressive. Have tried many recipes Anson love how simple they are! Thank you so much for all that you do. Can’t think of suggestions now, only compliments 🙂
Congratulations for your 7th anniversery!!
Hi there! I’m from Canada, I was searching the perfect recipies for making red bean mochi, roughly about a year ago. I tried making the mochi from your recipe for my sister’s grad party, and they were a success! After that, I browsed around your website looking for more delicious recipies to serve my family, and they as you can guess, were also a success! I later on found out that you had an IG account and decided to follow you from there!
A new fan from Brisbane, Australia. Found your blog through a friend who shared your post on Facebook.
Congratulations and Wish you all the best!
????????????
I love how elegant your videos are and how delicious your recipes are, the stories and helpful tips you share on your blog. I would love to see more videos for recipes on your blog (although I’m sure you’re always hard at work on that already!) Thank you for sharing your recipes!
I love your blog as it is, but one thing I would put on my wishlist is a way to favourite recipes so when I’m making a dish, I can quickly access my list of go-to recipes to find the one I plan on making. Although all your recipes are amazing, there are a few dishes I find myself returning to again and again and would love to have them more readily accessible.
Hi Nami,
Thank you so much for having this JOC : ) I found your website when I was looking for tonkatsu recipe. I love the simple video, easy to follow instruction, and super cute music background.
I really love Japanese food and keep coming back to your website to look for recipe of food I saw on drama (do you know Kodoku No Gurume?) or some simple recipes that I can make quickly during the week.
I like how your blog is so organized and clean, which made it’s easy to look for recipe. A recipe can turn into a story, and from the story there are little corners where you taught me more about Japanese cuisine.
I think one thing I found difficult when following recipe is the ingredients. I know you gave us many alternatives but sometimes it felt like my ingredients are not as good.
I’m currently a student with a busy schedule and have to cook for myself. Would you consider working on a weekly meal-prep project? Like from the grocery shopping plan to what to cook for the week, storage, and organize. I tried to incorporate more veggies in my food but sometimes they don’t last as long. I think it will be a great project for whom don’t have much time to cook/plan meals for the week but still want to enjoy a good meal : )
Again, thank you so much for JOC! I have learnt a lot!
Hi, I love your Japanese recipes and have used many of them. My family’s favorite is the pork belly and soft egg for raman. Keep up with the good work!
I love your blog and recipes. They are easy to follow and the food is delicious.
jizumi29@hotmail.com
I’m new to following your blog. I came upon your page while searching for a baked katsu recipe. Since I’m originally from Japan but grew up overseas, cooking Japanese food is something that so relish. I love sharing my native cuisine with friends and your blog is just a great addition to my web resource. Next to looking up recipes on Cookpad, your blog is my go to now. Thanks!! I also love that you use the pressure cooker. It’s one of my favourite kitchen tools.
It would be great to hear Nami interact with the audience more in the videos..less music more explanation.
Love your recipes! The only suggestion I have is maybe more use of speeding up/fast forwarding in the videos.
Oh my goodness, this is exciting and I love how easy and tasty the handful of dishes that I have made so far! It is also easy to follow along and am looking forward to making more!! Thank you so very much! I love your blog!!
I’ve really enjoyed having this resource for Japanese cooking — especially because many of the recipes are “from scratch.” I try to avoid processed foods, especially sauces and seasonings containing msg and processed sugars which, unfortunately, are ingredients that you find in many of the pre-package Japanese food items imported to North America. Finally being able to eat homestyle Japanese cooking here in Canada has brought back so many wonderful memories of the times I have lived in Japan and it’s such a pleasure to share these tastes with my friends and family. I wish this resource had existed in the mid-1990s when I first went to live in Japan and my only knowledge of the cuisine had been garnered from an old Time Life cookbook and the film Tanpopo.
I’m relatively new to your blog – I found it through google when searching for Miso Glazed Eggplant (one of my absolute favourite Japanese dishes!!). My partner and I are now cooking Japanese cuisine at least weekly to help improve his health and your recipe for baked katsu is our go-to recipe.
Thanks!
Cait – Perth, Western Australia
I was born in Japan but have spent most of my life in the states. JOC makes me feel closer to the culture through cooking the wonderful and delicious recipes!!
Your blog is my go-to when I need the recipe for Japanese dishes! I don’t have any feedback because everything is working fine for me.
Thank you for all the amazing recipes and videos! I
I happened to find your website through a Facebook video and decided to try your oxtail soup recipe last week and loved it! I plan on combing through your other recipes to see what else I can make!
Love all your recipes! I’ve been following your blog for a few years now. Keep it going!
I love catching up on JOC’s videos and recipes. They are easy to follow and taste delicious. Sometimes it’s difficult to find the ingredients in our city, and having more options for substitutions would be helpful. Thanks for all your hard work in making our lives easier in the kitchen!!!
Love watching your videos on FB. As a fellow Japanese I enjoy seeing many Japanese’ dishes and look forward to trying them out. I live in Canada.
Congratulations on your success. I’ve enjoyed picking up recipes that my Mom never taught me. It’s been a pleasure to share your blog with folks worldwide on the Hafu Japanese FB group. Your Japanese market/grocers list is widely appreciated. Kampai to many more years!
Hi Nami
Thanks for sharing all your recipes. I have benefited a lot.
One humble request is to have more easy & quick-fix recipes..

angie.enderton@gmail.com
I wouldn’t change a thing. Keep doing what you’re doing! I love it all!
Hi,?I came across your FB page when a I wanted to make tonkatsu. And indeed It was amazing minus the oil! Am new to your blog.
Thank you for your amazing blog! I started following your blog a few years ago when I was still a beginner cook. Now that I’m more comfortable with cooking, I still find your recipes really delicious and easy to follow.
As feedback/something that can be improved for the website, I would suggest using an interface where the reader can switch the portions of the recipe. (E.g by inputting “2 portions” instead of “4 portions”, it would automatically convert the amounts of the ingredients for you).
Thank you!
I.love your recipe! Can you please have a way where it is easy to locate all your Instant Pot recipes? Perhaps a specific tab/locatiom on your website?
Thank you.
Trinh
Congratulations on the 7 year anniversary!! 😀 Thank you sooooo much for your recipes! I have a sweet tooth, so I love making the desserts that you have. My favorite dish is dorayaki even though the anko takes forever to make because I don’t have a pressure cooker, but all the hard work is worth it! It’s really hard to come with feedback for your website because I think your website is perfect! It’s really easy to use and navigate and the recipes are easy to follow. I like how you post pictures with the steps of the recipe which makes it easier for me to follow.
Love your blog so much, especially the pictures step by step. Every recipe I have tried has been successful.
Congratulations Nami and Mr HOC on your 7th year! To many more 7s!????
When I first tasted one of your recipes, I felt like I was back in Japan. I taught English in Tokyo many, many years ago and have loved the culture, cuisine and country ever since. I have many of your recipes in my family’s favorite recipe book. When I meal plan, I keep coming back to your recipes. I would love to see more gluten free recipes as my daughter is celiac. Thank you for all your hard work and the yummy recipes!
Congratulations on 7 years. You are my go to blog for all things Japanese. I have loved all the recipes I have tried ????
Love your recipes!
I really love your recipes and videos. They’re thoughtfully made and quite simple. I’m a big fan of the Barefoot Contessa and I find that your videos have an eastern reminscent of her style of cooking. Thank you for continue making these videos/recipes so easily accessible for busy moms (& dads).
I love reading about and trying all your recipes! My favorite go-to for a relatively quick meal is the Oyakodon, I make your cheesecake recipe for my mom’s birthday and my friends love it when I make your Nama chocolate recipe. The site organization is fantastic and I love the way you can filter by time or ingredients. I would love to see even more how-to’s especially decorative cutting techniques. I hope you continue to share your delicious recipes with us!
I’m your instagram follower for almost 3 years,enjoying your recipe.thank younfor sharing & happy 7th anniversary ????
My instagram is @myglorioustreats????
Hi Nami & Mr JOC – I am a Malaysian living in Australia, and have been following your blog/Youtube channel for a few years now. I love your videos as the steps are clear and easy to follow, and the music is soothing. I’ve made a few recipes over the years – the Japanese cheesecake (my favourite), green tea madeleines, lemon chiffon cake, tempura, baked chicken katsu, spinach goma-ae, onsen tamago, onigirazu and wafu pasta to name a few. I’m planning to make the matcha swiss roll next! 🙂
Given we lead such busy lives these days, and are short on time to prepare healthy meals, my suggestion would be for recipes where the preparation can be done ahead of time (e.g. on the weekend) or where they can be cooked in bulk and stored for the week ahead.
Thank you for the wonderful videos and keep up the great work! 🙂
I love the authenticity and simplicity of your recipes. Your blog and videos are inspiring! My suggestion would be to keep on making such an amazingly good work! I would also be interested in more examples of healthy japanese recipes that call for organic whole foods. I believe that learning about the benefits of home cooking and traditional japanese ingredients would be great!
LOVE your website Nami! Keep up the great work! I hope I am a winner!
A subscriber to your newsletter. Love how you share information about Japanese culture and food and your recipes are easy to follow and they tastes good too. Thank you.
Congratulations Just One Cookbook! More years to come!
irssanchez@yahoo.com
My suggestion is kindly indicate also the name of the kitchen tools you’re using and where to purchase them.
I have been a huge fan of your recipes.
Will you pls, show how to make tsukemono, the ones I find at Japanese res?
I have tried to make it by using the instant powders sold at store. but have not been satisfied. maybe a demonstration how to use this store sold powders?
Congratulations! I never get tired of your wonderful recipes. You’re awesome!
I found your videos through facebook! I’m interested in Japanese cuisine and just randomly saw your video, then one video led to the next! I’m from Canada! I love your videos and wouldn’t change anything about them! One suggestion may be just put the ingredient list in the facebook description. However, I understand you want people to visit your blog, so it’s not a big deal!
Dear Nami,
Your blog saved me when studying abroad at the Japanese west coast. I would go to Harashin and not have a clue how to prepare all the great stuff that I bought there…Kabocha salad became my favorite in winter. Now that I’m missing Japan often, I look up recipes (like the chiffon cake which we would eat in our favorite restaurant all the time). My favorite recipe is gyoza (we made it last nye) and I love your little videos in my timeline on fb.
I could go on and on, thank you JOC and keep up the amazing work 🙂 happy 7 year anniversary from Germany 🙂 Lara
Hi! I’m from Italy and I found your blog on Pinterest, and I fell in love with it instantly, I love trying recipes from all over the world and you’re my go to when it comes to authentic Japanese food, I wouldn’t really change anything in your blog, I think it is perfect as it is now.
Thanks for providing always interesting and great quality content as well as lovely Japanese recipes! I love bento boxes so I would like to see this more (vegetarian or with an option to make vegetarian, if possible) 🙂
Wow! This giveaway is really generous of you! I love your blog and videos, they are always so clearly explained and visually very easy to follow. Besides when I don’t know something I can always ask and be answered. Really appreciate that. Thank you!
Hi, I’m Mercedes, I live in Spain, I love Japanese recipes and in your blog I can follow them without problems. You explain very well each step. A hug
HELLO from Seattle,wa! I am enjoying your tutorials and hope to learn how to make japanese cusine.
Hi there! I am third generation Japanese, Hawaii born and raised and grew up eating Japanese food. It was always my Mom’s cooking, or Aunty’s cooking or my Grandma’s cooking. Each having their own way of doing things. After coming across your site, it is refreshing to see “how to” videos and recipes of favorite dishes I grew up with. I look forward to learning new skills and making these myself! Doomo arigatoo gozaimasu!!
I’m subscribed to your newsletter (for a long time actually) and thank you for all the wonderful recipes esp those with matcha or red bean! Yum!
I am quite new to your blog! Recently a friend raved about a recipe she made from your blog and sent the link. I have been following you on Instagram since and feasting my eyes, and occasionally my tummy…….
I love your recipes. I was missing some of the traditional foods we had while in Okinawa and I stumbled across you. Some things are the same but what’s not, I improvise until it tastes just like from that wonderful island. Thank you for sharing!
I’m from Broome Western Australia, we learn about your blog through Facebook. Your video and recipe are very easy to follow and quite interesting to watch. My family find that your food aren’t yummy and easy to make. Even Sean my youngest (14 years old) can folllow Andrew make your food. Many thanks!
Hello. Founding your blog and videos on YouTube when I started learning japanese 3 years ago. Until now I tried a lot and erverytime it is so good. My only problem is that our Asian supermarkets here in Germany are not as good as yours in the US it seems. But I wanna say thank you for all the tips even for trips advices 🙂
Hi. I came across your blog years ago when I was searching for a recipe or two. Came across the blog again very recently when I was looking for particular recipe (can’t recall what it was). I only use instagram daily so I was happy to follow you on that.
It’s awesome that there are videos of your recipes, but even without, your blog instructions and pictures help. =)
I found your blog via a friend. She shared recipes with me. I also follow/like your blog on Facebook, where I often see active posts of new recipes to try. I appreciate being able to find Japanese dishes I grew up eating.
I like the way every dish is presented, and the little background stories and comments about them. Very enjoyable.
Awsome cooking recepies! Easy to understand and to make yourself. Been looking for a blog like this for so long. Hontou ni arigato gozaimasu!
I love your blog! Thank you so much for posting such wonderful recipes. I love Japanese food and your site is my go-to site for Japanese recipes. I usually use only organic ingredients in my dishes. So, my suggestion would be… if you ever have any substitute suggestions that are organic, that would be very helpful. Thanks!
I’m so glad I discovered you over 3 years ago. Your recipes are my all time favorites. As a lover of Japanese food and culture, it’s so great to have you sharing with us all.
Hi Nami! I just absolutely love your blog and as a recent college graduate, I became a caregiver before I go to graduate school. I take care of a 90 year old Japanese-Hawaiian grandmother who loves the food I make her, using your recipes!! Anyways, one suggestion I have is, can you publish more dessert recipes? We both love sweets and I’m sure it would make her very happy! I learned how to make mitarashi dango using your recipe and it was soooo yummy.
Arigato!
Ashley
Thank you for the chance to win one of your amazing giveaways. I’m from Australia and recently discovered your blog from Facebook. Love love love your recipes and how you fo your video. Very detailed and love how you give tips as well. Congratulations for the blog turning 7 years!
I’ve been following JOC for many years and am glad to see how popular this site has become! I was really glad when you commented on my cabbage rolls on instagram because it really shows that you care about your audience and value their feedback.
I remember giving you feedback on more Japanese culture/background story on different foods, and you have definitely incorporated these comments and explained the background of many seasonal recipes like Nanakusa Gayu and Kashiwa mochi.
Some more comments I have:
As a student in the US, what I can make is often limited by my budget. If there could be more budget-friendly recipes with easy-to-find ingredients, I will definitely be more willing to try your recipes. I know that a lot of your recipes are already like that, but it would be helpful to add a filter in the website’s search bar.
Also, I like to batch cook a lot on the weekends, and I would appreciate it a lot if you can include more freezer-friendly bento foods, and some tips for portioning and freezing food. I have tried your tamagoyaki and croquette recipes before, but some other ideas would be meat wrapped mushroom/veggies (you have an asparagus one I think!), konnyaku steak, kimbab, rice with meat recipes using rice cookers etc (foods that are easy to portion).
I’ve enjoyed the videos on knife skills, and would love to see more on how to make flower shaped carrots, eggs, daikon, beets etc – all those pretty foods in bentos.
Lastly, namagashi recipes please!!! Would love to learn the basics like making gyuuhi, nerikiri, and shiroan.
Thank you and love your website!!
Congrats on your blog seventh birthday ! I have one in Italian myself and I’m inspired by your work. What I would like to see is regional recipes, with local ingredients, that would be amazing! Keep up with the good job!
???????????????? I love your recipes!
Thank you for teaching the world simple easy Japanese cooking AND helping others learn Japanese traditions in using ingredients. Food is incorporated as a way to share in nature, culture, and life experiences,
Debbie Furumoto Homolulu, HI
Your website is so awsome, there is no need to change or improve anything! You are like a trusted family friend as your recipes fill our home with deliciousness and joy. Keep up the good work!
I found your blog fairly recently, but from what I’ve made so far it’s honestly amazing. I’m from Houston, so we don’t have too many options when it comes to Japanese cuisine besides sushi places. So your blog has honestly been my savior.
Only suggestion is that you continue for another 7 years or more because I’m greedy and your catalogue of recipes is honestly great. If you ever release a physical cookbook one of these days, that’ll be a great day.
It will be nice if you can share some quick recipe for new mummies to settle their lunch and dinner. As it will be very helpful for new mummies.. I had been searching for ideas for very long wonder how japanese mom prepare their meals.. do hashtags them for easy reference.. look forward to it..
I would love to win. I never won anything in my life.
Happé Birthday to JOC ! I’ve been following the blog for several years from France. I especially like the step by step pictures in your recipes. But I think there is way too much ads on the website… Isn’t there another way to monetize the blog ? It really disturbs and slows the reading.
Keep up the good work 🙂
Congratulations on 7 years of greatness! I remember the first time I stumbled upon your youtube channel is to search for okonomiyaki recipe. Then I discovered this blog, then instagram. Oooh I really love the recipes, easy to follow and presented with clear and beautiful pictures. Best of luck for many years to come! ❤(ӦvӦ。)
How wonderful that you’re celebrating 7 years of your amazing blog! I’ve loved reading your blog, following your adventures and learning from your recipes these past few years, and i look forward to many more years of that. Congrats!
Love your recipes and simple ingredients! I’ve enjoyed trying recipes for both savory and sweet. Thank you!
Hi Nami, thanks as always the contest!
I’ve been following you for a couple years, which made me fall in love with Japanese cuisine. Your trips’ resumés are interesting, too. I don’t really have any suggestion for the blog, given that it is perfect as it is. Maybe, the only thing I’d like to see more on this blog, are bento recipes: I know there are already a lot, but some of them are a little too time-consuming, and I feel like other food could fall in the bento category but I just have a hard time understating what’s easy and tasty for my lunch box and what Japanese use to pack into it.
Thanks for everything and keep going on!
Hi, I’m still new to the blog (I’ve been following you for a few months) so I cannot really express any valuable opinion. As requested from the contest, though, I found your blog via Youtube (in fact, this is where I follow you the most, I love your cooking videos), thanks to a recommended video. By the way, I’m Italian. I hope to win something this time, thanks for the prizes Nami!
Happy 7 Years to JOC! Congratulations! I love your easy to follow recipes on your blog and in your videos. I can’t really think of any other ways to improve your blog except maybe include the cost per serving for those that are budget conscious or include a difficulty level (e.g. for beginners)? Otherwise keep up the great work!
This is such a great website. We found it after a trip to Japan on 2014 and were looking for recipes to recreate some of the food when we got home to Scotland.
Suggestions for the website? Sometimes the recipe is away down at the bottom of the page, maybe it would be nice to have a shorter page/section just for the recipes. I like the stories though,
I honestly forgot how I found your site it was so long ago but I’ve loved it ever since! The only thing I can honestly say I wish I had more uploads to YouTube as well. I spend probably more time than I should on there and I’d love to get lost in just watching your videos on there. Also, maybe a video of your favorite places in SF?! I’m from the Bay too! 🙂 Thank you so much!!
I love your recipes, pictures and tutorials. You make things easy to understand, even though it may be completely new. Thank you for helping me try new things. I especially enjoyed following your recipes for osechi ryori during New Year, and last night, I made your Tan-men ramen recipe. Glad to sign up for your newsletter, and I follow on Instagram as well.
I really enjoy watching your YOUTUBE video! I left Japan before I leaned Japanese cooking from my MOM… Thanks to your video that I can cook traditional Japanese food!
ありがとう
I love your blogs, I found your videos in YouTube that’s why I started following your blogs. So informative….thank you. I’m from California btw.
Hi Nami and Mr. JOC,
More power to your blog and youtube channels! I am always on the lookout for easy yet authentic Japanese cuisines as my husband is a fan. And because of your recipes and step by step videos, my husband always says my cooking is better than some Japanese restaurants here. Looking forward for more quick and easy Japanese recipes!
Hi Nami! I love Japanese food and was fortunate to learn about your recipes via social media. I only tried a few recipes so far but I will definitely do more of them later as my husband and I start a new family. Thank you!
I came across your blog by chance and love reading and following your recipes. They are listed with clear instructions and step by step pictures that make it so easy to follow. I’m amazed also by your numerous recipes posted each day. I simply love and look forward to following your blog via Instagram, YouTube and FB. Please keep this going for as long as possible and thank you for the effort.
I am from Hong Kong but I currently live in Germany. My husband and I really enjoy japanese food, we love your recipes. I found your site on facebook. Some of my friends are subscribing your page, that’s why I did it too. I hope you will continue sharing your authentic recipes and we will be expecting the next 7 years together. Once again, congratulations.
I love your videos, maybe a bit better lighting would make them even better!
I just find your blog on Facebook, and I love it , love all your recipe and your cooking they all look great and yummy. I very want to make some of your recipe. Thank you so much and you done a very great job , have a very happy 7 year Anniversary and hope I can win Giveaways ????
I’ve been trying to think of a suggestion and I’m drawing a blank! I think it’s great as is! I first discovered your blog 4 years ago. While watching a Korean drama I thought Mapu tofu looked pretty tasty and wanted to try and make it! After browsing I found your recipe. I was amazed at how concise your instructions were, how practical your pictures and videos were! I have no complaints. I also love your gyudon recipe! It’s a hit with my son!
The only thing may be to have more instant pot recipes…and this is only because we just recently got hooked on it and would like to use it more.
Hi Nami, congratulations on your blog anniversary!
I can’t think of any suggestion except for more delicious recipes, hopefully with easy to find ingredients and tools 🙂
Anyway I recently bought a printer and found print button in your recipe page really helpful, rather than making a mess on my phone screen while cooking, I can just print the recipe instead and throw away the paper once done.
Also the servings slider is really nice too, so I don’t need to calculate things myself ;P
Hi! Entering the 7 yr contest. Have already subscribed a while back. Love your cooking and videos. If I were to give any suggestion it would be more simpler sweets and snacks (on the go) like your creme fraise blueberry scones. That is me and my boyfriends favorite sweet treat and I make them all the time. I am always bringing them to gatherings and people love them because they are so simple , clean and easy to hold and eat for social breakfasts/ brunches or on the go.
J.ludwig@hotmail.com
First came across your recipes on Facebook. Then went to Pinterest to follow. Love how simple you make it.
Hi Nami, am Irene from Indonesia, first time I found your blog in September 2015. It was the day I started my first lesson cooking sushi. I love Japan and its food, and your blog really helps me develop my hobby. Your recipe is very easy and simple, even I who have no experience from cooking class whatsoever can make delicious Japanese cuisine. Sometimes my friend even asked me to be a their Japanese cuisine chef at a small party they held. For me your blog is like a book of life lesson for me, seriously, it means that much to me. Terimakasih banyak 🙂
Also, you have the same name of my fav character anime, Nami from One Piece 😀
Hi Nami! Thank you for doing a giveaway. Honestly, sharing your recipes is already so generous of you. I would love to see how you make Japanese coffee. 🙂
Congratulations! Thank you for sharing delicious recipes ❤
It’s wonderful to learn through your blog how to cook so many recipes that I love in a simple way. It’s easy, perfect and delicious. Every time when I try one of your recipes, it leads me to the days when I lived in Japan. Thanks so much and wish you success!
I’m from hongkong originally and living in France now. I turn to JOC when i crave for hearty homecook meals!!
Since I started to study Japanese I became very interested in what/how they eat.
You blog is a very good summary of the Asian food culture. The recipes are easy and the videos make it all very helpful. I already made a lot of your recipes and planning to do so in the future! Keep up the good job!
I have been watching your videos for about 2 years now, and reading your blog as well. I was interested in Japanese dishes, and your videos were filled with love to cooking, so I got hooked.
My first recipe I tried was Japanese Beef Curry, and I fell in love with the recipe – so did my fiancée. First try out of the recipe was when we started dating. Ever since he has always asked me to cook more of it, and now that we live together there are always the base ingredients in the fridge for curry – just in case the need for curry starts. I even learned how to make the recipe gluten free by your instructions!
I love how you respond to instagram photos and comments on your videos. It must be hard! For the feedback, I would ask for many wonderful things to write about in the blog, but I still haven’t read everything there already is! I wanted to share my first moment with your recipes, and also thank you for couraging me to try out cooking foods, that I have never tried before – I used to be scared of cooking, “in case something goes wrong. Your recipes are easy to follow, and now every time I see your new recipe I want to try it out! Even if I don’t have the instant pot or the rice cooker.
Thank you so much.
I’m quite new to your blog, so haven’t made anything yet, I’m still working up the courage. My family really enjoy Japanese cooking, so your blog is fantastic. We’re in Manchester UK. Thank you for sharing all your tips!
I’m quite new to your blog, so haven’t made anything yet, I’m still working up the courage. My family really enjoy Japanese cooking, so your blog is fantastic. We’re in Manchester UK.
Hi!! I love your blog. I came across it when I was looking for pressure cooker recipes, and you have loads! Even though I have a stovetop rather than an electric one, the recipes are still easy to follow and easy translatable. I am Chinese Malaysian living in London, and the multicultural cuisines you write about simply blow me away and I love seeing your updates on facebook.
I so love your recipes. & step by step photo imstruction & Utube videos. Simple & easy to follow. Looking forward to new videos in your newly renovated kitchen which is every cook’s dream kitchen!
Hi (: I like the amount of detail included in the blog posts. I came across the blog when googling and found your great honey soy chicken recipe. A request would be to make tofu ice cream! In Kyoto they served it with sorbet and it was amazing. Thanks
Hi!
My suggestion is that you continue doing such a great job! I’m a blog reader that enjoys with your recipies and others related with the Japanese culture. And also I’m a subscriber of your youtube channel.
I just can say thank you!! 🙂
I Love this Blog!I would love to see more vegetarian receipts.
I love that I can type a vegetable into the search bar, and tons of recipes pop up, as well as clear videos of how to cook it! As a foreigner living in Japan, we can’t thank you enough.
I appreciate your tips on healthy Japanese cooking. I get tired of all the white rice and white bread in Japan.
You are one of the first blogs I came across and depended on when I first started trying my hand on cooking a few years back. I have always loved Japanese food since I worked in Japan for 1 and a half year and was amazed by the diff kind of flavors Japanese cuisine brings. Your recipes and detailed instructions made it so easy and enjoyable to cook for a beginner like me. And they were all spot on! And though now I co-own an Italian restaurant (I am not the chef tho 🙂 ), I will always be armed with the techniques and simplicity I have learned from your Asian blogs and videos. Suggestions? I wouldn’t change anything, with your mister (JOC) as a team mate, I am sure you guys (recipes/videos) will just keep getting better and better! I wish to see you guys in person tho…please come to Manila 🙂
Congratulations on your 7 year JOC anniversary! Thank you for all your wonderful recipes and hard work. Your recipes website is well written with easy to follow directions along with step by step pictures. The YouTube videos are high quality and professional. Keep up the excellent work. ????
I would love to see more Instant Pot and other Asian cuisine recipes on your blog.
Love your blog. After searching for quite sone time, I finally discovered it a fee years ago and now always consult it first, if I want to cook Japanese.
I am pleased to leave a comment for you. Can you offer more recipes for basic sauces and other things. It is so much nicer to make sauces or relishes or even flat breads and things than it is to buy them – usually not tasting as good if bought! I love your pickled ginger and wonder if you have more similar recipes. I don’t look at videos much because I can’t afford the internet time! Always happy to read your newsletter. Best wishes, Gay
Hi JOC Family,
Been a reader for almost 5 years now. Your recipes are my go to if I want our family of four to try something new. Please continue to create recipes. Congratulations on your 7th year anniversary! 🙂
I found out about your blog by researching Japanese recipies online. We are currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
I love the Just One Cookbook recipes and escpecially love that I can watch a video to get a feel for the process and later am able to simple read or print the recipe itself without needing to rewatch the video to write everything down ^^
Hi Nami!
I have been watching just one cookbook for a couple of years now, I love your videos and recipes! I found out about your blog through your videos, and I have tried cooking some of your recipes (gyoza, miso black cod, onsen tamago ,just to name a few) and it has always come out perfectly. I usually cook for me and my boyfriend and he loves the dishes too so I want to thank you for your recipes!
I am from Indonesia and I am currently studying here in the US as an international college student, which I believe is something you had experienced before 🙂 I moved here about a year or so ago and your blog posts definitely has helped me with finding the right ingredients to cook with while I’m here.
As for suggestions, I really don’t have any! You’re one of my favourite chefs on youtube and I love how relaxing your videos are to watch and how easy it is to follow. Thank you so much for sharing your recipes 🙂
Cecilia
I been a fan on your blog and videos for such a long time. I discover your videos on youtube initially when i was looking for healthy home cook recipes. Your videos and blog post are so detailed,I think i have tried nearly every recipe you have shown and my fiance is truely grateful 🙂
I am also a huge fan on your travel post too. Would love to see more travel related blog post in the future. Your Japan travel blog was so informative and i manage to try quite a few of the restaurants you recommended.
Love your recipes! I use them all the time
Your videos are amazing!Really loved watching them.It helps me a lot.Thank you!
Hi Nami! I can’t quite remember how’s i come upon your website but after trying a few recipes that work really well – I’m sold! Suggestions to your recipes and blog posts – I do quite enjoy reading the content of it but find that whenever I’m reading on mum iPhone – it takes a while for all the content to load (possibly because of the many advertisements) so perhaps if you can be even more succinct in your content that will be even better
Many thanks
Hello, my suggestion and my desire is to see more recipes like vegan type and more japanese desserts.
Id love to see more traditional Japanese desserts!! Also maybe some Japanese snacks that’s your go to?
Hi, I am a big fan, and I have used your recepies a lot???? Simple to understand and delicious food! The pictures and videos are very good! So, keep going????
Love your authentic Japanese recipe! I made spicy tuna roll and my picky husband loved it! I am still waiting for Hokkaido Milk Bread recipe. 🙂
I am so happy I found your blog. I think you do an exceptional job with your videos and recipes. And, because of you, I am ordering my Instant Pot this week — can’t wait. There are so many recipes I want to try and just wish I had the patience to make something new everyday. Maybe I’ll work on that as a weekly goal and work up to every other day. Thank you for the work and love you put into your blog!!
Hi JOC team,
I love your recipes and they work out well for me each time.
I went to Koyasan before and had those Buddhist vegetarian set lunch. Would love to see a short series on how to recreate those kaiseki vegetarian meals
Keep up the great work!
Happy anniversary! I have even subscribed to your newsletter for over a year, and I love reading about all delicious Japanese (and other) recipes that you post. If there is any content I would wish for, it would probably be some more baking recipes (I love baking and making desserts!), or a guide on how to make Tonkotsu Ramen. Tonkotsu Ramen is my favorite Japanese food, and I cannot visit Japan without eating it at least once. That said, I think you are doing an amazing job with JOC, and I look forward for another interesting year!
I love your blog! It’s my go-to recipe site. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for all the recipes – I feel much more confident in cooking meals that are healthy, wholesome and full of flavour.
Thank you for the blog! I have made many of your recipes, and they’ve been great. I really love when you share bits of Japanese culture regarding food that we’d probably not know unless we were in Japan.
This is my favorite japanese blog!!
I love your blog and instragram posts. There are always useful informations and/or story about the dishes add to it.
I would love to see more dessert and make in advance dishes (with instant pot) posts.
I love watching your cooking video. I help me understand easier how to. Please do talk during the video as well 😀
Also, please do have more travel posts with places and restaurants you visits (with links that corespondent to those places would be great!)
Anyway, amazing blog. You did such a wonderful job! Thank you for your time and thoughts to show us how to cook better at tastier at to enjoy among family, at home ^_^
Thank you.
I’ve always loved the easy preparation methods that Justonecookbook provides! Made a couple of dishes which I always crave! you can see them here, https://www.instagram.com/p/6ae0mqD01-/?taken-by=nnetterz and here, https://www.instagram.com/p/6WB6D2D002/?taken-by=nnetterz (:
Justonecookbook is always my go-to Japanese recipe website for soup bases. I cooked sukiyaki pork soup for my boyfriend when he visited me, and he said it was delicious.
For suggestions, maybe create short videos (like on facebook) to post on Instagram? so that we will know when a new video is out on your youtube channel (: I am always excited to share these beautiful easy recipes with my friends.
Love you!
Congratulations on your “7 year old child”!! I have enjoyed following you and the changes as you have guided this “child” through its developmental years. May we see many more to come.
Your oyakodon recipe is my go to meal for an easy and tasty dinner – I can’t count how many times I’ve made it! Your baked katsu was also a game-changer for me – I love katsudon but can’t justify making it too often because of the amount of oil, but your baked cutlet ensures it’s just as good and far healthier!
I would like to see more Japanese dishes with instant pot.
Congratulations on your 7 year anniversary and thank you so much for doing thia giveaway. I’ve been following your blog for over a year now and the first recipe I’ve made back then was your steamed buns. Love how clear your recipes are and one of the things I really appreciate is when you include step by step photos on the instructions – super helpful, even my mom was able to follow along and she doesn’t understand English. <3
Can't wait to see what 2018 will bring for JOC! 🙂
Hi, I absolutely love your recipes and have been sharing your site with my friends. My only feedback would be to add more videos to the recipes. They are so well made and better help the viewer understand the piece sizes, different methods, etc. Overall though, your site is great and I always look forward to that next recipe or that post of your voyages. Keep up the good work!
I really enjoy receiving your emails!
Happy 7 year anniversary!
I found your blog when I was searching pinterest about japanese cuisine and since then you’ve been one of my go to inspiration websites for such. I was abke to learn about new products through your pantry section and I sincerely hope it is a section that will grow – would love to know more about other asian pantry staples.
One recipe that also really inspired me was the bento box one – not only I started sending to my little brother schoold some awesome lunch boxes, I also created something really fun during work https://www.instagram.com/p/BS_Tvehhybw/ 🙂
Happy 2018! Thank you for doing this giveaway.
Hi, it’s not that long since I subscribed to your newsletter. I found your site in Pinterest, followed you there then in Instagram. Thanks for sharing a lot about Japanese food. It definitely is an interesting site and knowledgeable too. Congrats and God bless! I am from the Philippines by the way.
Hi Nami and Mr. JOC
Congratulations on reaching 7 years on your blog. I can definitely feel and appreciate all the efforts put in from all the years. Once again thank you so much for hosting this generous giveaway and here’s to many more years of the JOC website and social media! ^_^

Hi Nami, congratulations on your. 7-year blog anniversary! Your blog is a wonderful trove of resources.
I enjoy receiving your newsletters and seeing what you come up with. You are already doing a fantastic job with the blog and videos 🙂 if i had to offer feedback, i would probably suggest that you include in your recipes tips on how to repurpose the leftovers. For example, if this dish had leftovers, how else can it be served or changed to make it different for the next meal?
Otherwise, i would say your blog pretty much has everything covered. Keep up the great work and thank you for all the effort you put in 🙂
Hello! A beautiful site you have. Please upload your videos in Instagram also. God bless and thanks! Congrats on your 7th anniversary!
Congratulations from Italy, I’ve been following your blog when I found your recipe for teriyaki chicken and I’m still following your recipes since then, keep up the good work!
Hi Nami!! I’ve been a loyal fan for 6 years+, and I want to say I’ve learnt all my basic japanese cooking from your blog! I still remember the sparkles in my husband’s eyes when I first served one of your recipe dishes for dinner, and we were both amazed by how easy it was to follow your instructions and the balanced flavor of seasoning were just perfect. I was starstruck and was so happy to read your comments about my attempted green tea soufle on Facebook; and the giant bowl of spicy miso ramen on instagram. I will always be a loyal fan to your blog and please continue to share your amazing recipes with us! It was the Google search word ‘quick dinner’ that brings me to your site and I’ll never forget the joy of cooking you bring to my life. Being a noob cook 6 years ago, your blog taught me how to prepare simple, healthy and delicious dinner for my family and I’m thankful for that. If you ask me, I’ll love to see more of quick dinner recipes, and Bento-friendly side dish recipes. And I look forward to many more brilliant recipes from your blog. Thanks Nami.
I found you on Facebook. I really like your videos and your recipes look so yummy. So far, I’ve only been brave enough to make the dashi stock but I just got a pressure cooker and I’m excited/nervous to try it out!
I love all your recipes, but can’t eat gluten. I love that you have some gluten free options!
The only problem I have is finding some of the Asian ingredients in Canada. I may have to break down and order online! Lol. Mainly the Dashi and or

Congratulations on your 7th year anniversary! Love your recipes and videos.
Greeting from Bangkok, Thailand???????? I’m a Thai newbie wifey in Aug 2017. My husband is Japanese who always want to eat Japanese food. I’m keep watching your videos many many times before cooking and while I cooking also. I remember the first menu is miso soup. Congrats on 7 years!
Thank you for 7 years of awesome recipes! Love earth and every one!
Love this site!
Enjoy how you can simplify recipes and they can still be tasty!
Would be nicer if advertisements are reduced on the blog or at least pushed to the bottom of the page instead of in between the text as it can make it hard to follow a recipe or read an update.
For videos, would be easier to follow if you can include measurements of ingredients each time it’s incorporated.
Hi.
My wife and i, love all your recipes. We really enjoy everything we see on youtube, FB and instagram.
Keep up the good work and Ganbatte.
Greetings from Denmark
I love your blog and YouTube videos! I have been following for a couple years now. I like the simplicity of your recipes and how you make it easy to understand. I can’t wait to see what else you have to bring to us!
I love all of the foods you publish on your blog. I think a recommendation that I have is possibly exploring some fusion cooking options from time to time. If you happen to run across a Korean/Japanese recipe, or Chinese/Japanese recipe, it could give us something new to try out. 🙂
Thank you for all your wonderful recipes and cooking advices,
This site brought smiles back to my life when I was in a difficult period. I love the clean presentations and warm deliveries. Please keep sharing!
Hi Nami and Mr. JOC,
Congratulations on your 7th anniversary. Time sure goes flies huh?
Thank you for all those awesome recipe, you even inform the subtitute for some ingredients which not allowed for some people.
I’ve been try some of your recipe and my favorite are okonomiyaki, yaki udon and miso shiru. Thanks to you that now I always had hana katsuoboshi, miso and udon at home.
Good luck and all the best
I love every part of what JOC does- the blog, the videos, your Instagram, and the newsletter. I am a quarter Japanese and your blog help reconnect me to food I had with family as a child and helps me learn more about my culture. Thank you!
Love your recipes…great videos
Hi ! Been following your website for a while from Montreal, Quebec, Canada ! 🙂
I don’t have a specific comment/request for JOC, but I always check this website first since 2010 (-ish) for anything Japan food related. Made a few recipes and suppose to try the homemade curry roux one as soon as I’m Feeling better this week ! 🙂
Still more of a crockpot over instantpot fan, but would like to try a few of your instantpot recipes, so I wish to win one of them 🙂
Hi! I love all the homemade recipes I’ve found on your blog. Easy to follow and great links to make the different sauces/soup bases that are needed. I’m from Vancouver and definately use your blog for Japanese go to dishes! Keep posting!
Hi Nami, I really enjoy even just watching ur cooking videos during my leisure time. Ur recipes are simple yet delicious, especially suitable for a family with young children like mine. Keep the yummy recipes coming!
love from Malaysia
I started following you when I moved back to California after living and teaching in Kyoto for 20 years. Your recipes and videos are easy to follow and the most delicious that I’ve found since being back in the US. It makes my 2 kids feel good to eat authentic, home cooked Japanese food since we all miss Japan so much.
Dear Nami, I‘m from Germany – we communicated via fb and Instagram already – and ever since I visited Japan (some 15 yrs ago) I crave for Japanese Cuisine.
Your Blog proved to be the perfect one for me, because the recipes are presented in a clear and informative way, including alternatives on ingredients and preparing methods if possible.
Also it doesn‘t only include recipes for japanese food, but lots of delicous things from all around the world.
JOC has become my permanent advisor and not only a few of your recipes have found its way into my every day meal routine.
Thank you so much for your work – greetings to Mr. JOC and your children too!
I couldn‘t imagine what to do if your Blog should be taken off the net one day! Keep the recipes and stories coming. I am with you!
Best wishes, Isabel
Hi Nami!
I’ve been following your blog for a couple of years now, and after buying an instant pot, I would like to see more recipes that can be done using only the instant pot!
Aside from that, continue doing what you’re doing 🙂
I’m excited to be a subscriber to your blog. My question is which Japanese food items can I purchase at the nearby grocery store and which items should I get at our Japanese grocery (Mitsuwa) which is an hour away.
Apparently I speak about you so often, my aunt asked if my friend Nami was coming to dinner. I so enjoy your blog, videos and recipes. Happy anniversary!
Hi! I like that many of your recipes have videos . That really helps out if you are unfamiliar with the techniques. I also like the product recommendations in some of your newsletters. Most recently I made your kabocha gratin and the whole family loved it! Thanks!
Hi JOC!
I am from Minnesota and I found your blog/website through Facebook. I’m still new to Japanese cooking and just want to thank you for providing us with easy and delicious recipes!
Love your blogs and videos and your gestures, love watching you cook
I’ve been following your blog for a couple years now and i’ve been so happy with every recipe I’ve tried! I’ve always loved Japanese food but was always too nervous to try making it mostly because the recipes I’d seen looked so complicated. Your blog and easy to follow videos gave me the confidence to try them finally! So thank you!
Thank you for your great blog. Love your recipes.
just subscribed!
Nami–you are so deserving of the success you’ve had with JOC. You and Mr. JOC create wonderful content and inspire many to try Japanese cooking. I know my cooking abilities have skyrocketed since finding your blog a few years ago. Thanks for everything! Can’t wait to see how you continue to grow! <3
Hi Nami and Mr. JOC 🙂
I found your blog by chance around a year ago while I was looking up Japanese cotton cheesecake recipe. I would love to tell you that I succeeded in the first attempt 🙂 I’m a Vietnamese in love with Japanese and Korean cuisine and as I’am currently studying in Finland and eating outside here is quite expensive, your recipes are really helpful when I starve these food, especially your Okonomiyaki. I am also in love with your kitchen. In addition to the content, the lighting and color of your kitchen make me feel peaceful 🙂 I hope there will be more quick recipes for busy people.
Thank you for your time and efforts! And happy 7th birthday JOC <3
Hi, subbed to your email!
Congrats on 7 years! I’ve been following this blog/channel for years & tried so many of your recipes 🙂 It got me into Japanese cooking & has made stuff like kombu & mirin be staples at home.
I think the best feedback/wish I could think of would be to do more vegan/vegetarian recipes! I suffer from IBS so the only animals I eat are seafood (excluding fish)… So I usually veganize your meals, but I’m not the best chef so I know it could be better if someone who’s good with flavours would make the recipe first 😉 I would be extra interested in a vegan Nabe to be added to your nabe collection 🙂
As for meals I prefer to make, it’s definitely easy meals! I don’t like having 50 ingredients & 3 hands. Being able to make it on a weekday is a huge plus. Since I live in Europe, it’s impossible to find some ingredients (like enoki mushrooms), so I do like it if there’s alternatives to the more uncommon ingredients (outside of East Asia) that’d taste just as good… I love the email updates on videos, since that’s the only way I can properly keep track.
All in all this is a really good site, and has greatly enriched my kitchen, so I hope it keeps at it 🙂
I really like your site and have tried many of your recipes. I would love to see more japanese food recipes using instant pot.
Cela fait 3 ans que j’ai découvert votre site très riche en contenu avec des recettes fabuleuses pour amener un peu du Japon chez moi 🙂
Je vous souhaite une bonne continuation !
I don’t remember how I started following you but you are my go to site for all my Japanese food. I have tried the shrimp salad, teriyaki salmon, dashi broth and sushi rice. Keep up the great work. Thank you.

It’s been genuinely helpful to find recipes in this blog. Literally, I sit in my computer every weekend to look for recipes to prep for the upcoming week and been doing it for almost a year now. Thank you for providing these delicious recipes and all the tips! I had no idea it had been 7 years since JOC existed! Thank you for keeping it updated!
I always loved ramen and Japanese food but I have only eaten when I’ve gone out. So when I finally decided to make my own ramen, I found your recipes and absolutely love them! I’ve made it for family and friends and they all enjoyed it. I am very excited to try out other recipes and some more traditional Japanese recipes. I am always open to more recipes for other ramen flavours (tonkotsu?). Thank you for the great recipes!
I have enjoyed JOC ever since I first stumbled upon it – particularly your cheerfulness and positive attitude! If I could make one request though: as a vegan I would appreciate a few more vegan-friendly recipes! Thank you!
Happy 7th Anniversary!!! and hoping for many more years of great recipes. I love your blogs and YouTube videos!!! Please keep up the great work! It helps many busy single moms! My only request is more recipes with Instant Pot. 🙂 Thank you!
I love your blog and Facebook postings. Your recipes are so much fun to eat and taste delicious too! I can’t think of anything that I would change. Keep up the great work!
Love all the videos and recipes you post on FB (mainly where I follow you from) they are easy to follow when making recipes for the first time and trying new foods.
I absolutely LOVE all the video you’d made. Needless to say the vedios are well made and have all the details .You also take times to explain why things are done certain way on the blogs and share the history of the traditions of Japanese food culture . And the best part is you always always reply to questions we asked, thank you very much for doing so, That made me feel we are not just your fans , we feel like we are your friends .
Looking forward to see more new recipes and ideas you bring back after you travel as usual.
*just a question … will there be more instant pot and rice cooker recipes ? ????*
❤️❤️❤️
I’m from germany and I think I encountered your blog various times when ever I searched for japanese recipes. The first one I tried was the okonomiyaki I think. The instructions where great, easy to follow and the pictures illustrated it really well. The first try was a huge success so I bookmarked your page and then tried more recipes. I really like the structure and style of the page. The search function works well and every recipe does not only come with clear and well illustrated instructions but also with a lot of interesting information.
Since every recipe I tried was quite a pleasant and fun experience with good to great results and I still want to try out many more recipes from you!
Add on to my previous comment…would love more keto-low carb Asian recipes 😉 eatting keto for several weeks and I’m missing my korean food something awful!
I recently started following you on FB. I have pinned som of your recipes to try. Im from NC.
Thank you Nami, Mr. JOC, and the JOC team for taking the time to craft together this blog; I have always shied away from cooking Japanese food (my favourite cuisine) since I was afraid that it would be too complicated; just how did does the cuisine manage to achieve the perfect balance of temperature, texture, flavour and art? Thanks to your blog, now I know and I use it everyday. If you can, I would appreciate it if you hosted a live show (maybe on facebook?) in which we can ask questions . Thank you!
I love your blog. Thanks for sharing your yummy recipes!
I think the only thing I’d like sometimes is more approximate cook times. I think it’s the chicken teriyaki recipe where it asks to cook in the sauce until it reduces by half, but I’m just kind of bad at that and would like approximate times. Thank you for this giveaway chance! I love the recipes I’ve tried from you so far!
I just found your blog. I was watching Midnight Diner for the third or fourth time and decided to look up some of the recipes from the show. I’m from Memphis, TN so comfort food appeals to me.I found hot pot for one on your site. I’m really excited about making the warm mushroom salad I found here!
I’ve always turned to your channel and blog because it’s straight to the point. Not only in terms of content but also in terms of the way the video is edited— It’s clean, modern, and very simple to follow.
My only feedback is maybe do a bit more collaborations and show a perhaps Japanese twist to other cuisines ?
I love your blog and make recipes from multiple times a week. I’d like to see more complete menu ideas for hosting as it would be done traditionally in Japan.
Thanks Namiko
Thanks for providing authentic Japanese recepies which are easy to follow! We especially enjoyed japanese cheesecake, mapo tofu and nama chocolates.I suggest you keep up the good work ..maybe also provide link to alternate ingredients for those hard to get in non Asian countries! Bernice
Your blog was the one I first used when I started to cook Japanese meals. I like the variety of food and the fantasy you have. Sometimes I mix Japanese and Italian cuisine (I’m Italian) and all my family enjoy the dinner! Thanks!
I found your blog last year and it’s set as my welcome page when I sign on my computer. I love the richness and simplicity of your recipes. Thank you for all you do.
Hi,
I think your Blog/YT is already awesome! I’d love to know recipes that are cooked in modern Japanese homes today. But I also love the classics so either I cant wait for more recipes! 🙂
All the best
I’ve read your recipes and/or watched your videos for only a few months. I recently found a Japanese market about an hour away and it’s let me try recipes with ingredients I couldn’t otherwise find. I found your blog/videos in google searches for Japanese recipes that, believe it or not, I’d see in anime and then search to see what it was. If it sounded good, I wanted to try it out. 🙂 As for where I’m from… I live in a small town in South Carolina.
I love your blog! It’s easy to search for recipes and easy to follow, especially with the videos that are so professionally done.
My suggestion is to add more side dish recipes, and include how they can be stored. I find side dishes to be so useful to add variety throughout the week and can be done on a Sunday, so that on the weekdays I only have to cook one main but have a variety of food on the table. Would love it if there are more side dish options since I only know very few…
I follow JOC on Facebook! I’m from the island of Saipan but live in Phoenix, AZ. I love your range of recipes!!
Hello from South Africa 🙂 Just found your blog and love your easy to follow recipes! It’s great having a go-to place for authentic Japanese food.
Congrats on 7 years! 🙂
I love your blog and recipes! It doesn’t really need improvement, but I would be interested to learn more about the history or background of the dishes you make. Like a mini culture lesson through food.
Thanks for doing what you do! 😀
