Unlike other Japanese castles that were reconstructed/rebuilt, Fukuoka Castle in the present day is just a ruin. In its place is Maizuru Park with an athletic stadium, soccer field, and baseball field. There are still some of the original Fukuoka Castle structure standing; however, the majority of the castle has decayed or fallen apart over the years.

The original castle was built in 1601 and completed over 7 years. Of the 47 guard towers, the Tamon Turrent, Kinen Turrent, and Shiomi Turret can still be seen today.

The castle was built on a hill and even though the buildings are no longer there, you can still take in the awesome views of Fukuoka City from where Tenshu Tower used to be.

Hi Nami and family!

I’m planning to go to Fukuoka and finally making your travel blogs useful (Been eyeing/bookmarking them for a while!) It’s very detailed, informative but not overwhelming! Just like your cooking videos! Also scrolling through your blogs/pictures — lovely family!
