Dried noodles (by HIME) and fresh noodles (by Sun Noodles).
An import from Chinese-style noodles, ramen noodle is the most popular and recognizable noodle of all the Japanese noodles. These Japanese noodles come in various forms, shapes, and lengths. Most of them are made of four basic ingredients: wheat flour, salt, water, and an alkaline agent (kansui). Whether it’s served in a hot broth or stir-fried, people just love ramen for its springy texture, ability to soak up flavors and the smoothness factor when the noodles are slurp down.
Although pre-cooked instant ramen seems to get all the craze worldwide, you can actually make a really good bowl of ramen noodle at home with dried or fresh ramen noodles. Check out our Japanese Ramen Guide here.
Where to find the Best Fresh & Dried Ramen Noodles
One of the best fresh ramen noodles you can find in the US is by Sun Noodles. Sun Noodle started in Hawaii and now they have two more manufacturing factories in LA and New Jersey. You can find various styles of fresh ramen noodles in the refrigerator section at Japanese grocery stores or some Asian grocery stores. Some of the packages come with prepared sauce just like the instant ramen.
If you couldn’t find fresh ramen noodles, you can also look for dried ramen noodles. HIME Dried Ramen is the brand that I enjoy. The noodles are straight and sold packaged in bundles. You can find HIME Japanese Ramen Noodles on Amazon too.
